Macro users

I've just been in a funcorp room with anti macros on, players getting frozen for using macros. But I also remember that there was a post somewhere that said using a 3rd party software in order to get an advantage (for example macros) would be considered the same as hacking and the players would be banned, however, no one was banned.
Why's that?

I don't know how reliable this is, but the Transformice Wiki just states that since macros don't manipulate the game client, they are not illegal per-say, and therefore allowed. Players cannot be banned for using macros. They're just highly frowned upon.

Using macros or filterkeys to obtain any kind of advantage in game is considered cheating and will be sanctioned just like any other hack.

Yeah, it makes no sense, there's a tool that freezes players using macros in funcorp rooms, and if they keep using it the most they do is banning them out of the room when it's completely illegal to use that and they're considered hackers as well. I can't understand why they aren't banned. That's also why records are a hard thing to manage rn.

As far as I know, moderators do not consider the output of a Lua script valid evidence to ban people solely on.

As for why they didn't get banned, I assume mods had enough stuff to do as is rather than to constantly babysit a FunCorp room that does well enough on its own with freezing.

This isn't a definite answer, so take it with a grain of salt.

i wouldnt say it is babysitting a room when every 1-2 minutes a new guy gets frozen for cheating

what's a macro

how does that even work? is there a way for me to try this myself?

So in my opinion the use of macro is not very effective in this game so there is no point in dealing with this issue.

you say that yet some of the people are probably able to effectively use it to some extent. the fact that there have been floating couple threads regards this proves its still a relevant issue for ppl wanting to get rid of it. i think its for the better for them to resolve it considering its still exploiting, giving them an advantage over the rest majority of players.

Any form of hacking (aka 'cheating' by using a third party program to gain advantages) will NOT be tolerated and can result in a PERMANENT ban. So you better think twice before you start flying across the room like Supermouse, because you will lose your account! Don't even think about using a different account to cheat -- we will find you! Linking to cheats and/or asking for cheats are also against the rules and can result in a mute or ban from the game.

i think that this rule is not active yet cuz ive seen lotta players doing wj very fast and nothing happens to them!! And everybody knows that its so easy to know when somebody is using macro/filter

It has always been active. That's a part of a thread that's existed since 2012.
The players that walljump fast are probably very experienced. There is a clear difference between macro and just being good at the game.
If someone walljumps fast but has some trouble here and there with it, such as falling, then chances are, they're legitimate.
However, if someone is flawlessly walljumping with hardly any mistakes, then it's probably macros.

Just because they're good at the game doesn't mean they're using macros. I've played for 8 years and have gotten pretty decent at walljumping. Does this mean I'm using macros? No, it doesn't.

dude i pretty know the difference between being "pro" and being hacker. if u dont know how to identify a hacker, i can tell u how, just wait for some chocolate map and u will see some or lotta players using macro/filter.

People in my favorite minigame are using a third party software such as an autoclicker and they use it to get an advantage and start teaming with the autoclicker and making it unfair for others

is something that is part of windows that I can enable without having to download literally anything "third party"? i don't think it's fair at all, but it isn't necessarily a "hack" either

windows built in filterkeys is ok. the delay isnt short enough to be abused in the way the third-party filterkeys is.
