Grump's eyes flashed in wideness, i-infected!

I look over at Grump, noticing her shock. "What is it? He isn't that hurt. It's not like an entire pack of wolves--" I start to say, but am cut off. "We get the idea, Frostpaw." Hollyfrost gently meows.

Grump shook her head,"u-uh j-just make sure the wound doesn't spreed and infect him,"

"I think it'll be okay, you two. If Sparrowclaw says he'll be fine, I think he will." Spottedfur meowed calmly. "But it would help to wrap it quickly before we go. Where's that leaf again?"

I grab the leaf into my jaws from the ground. "Here," I meow, laying the leaf in front of Spottedfur.

"Good, good, thank you," Spottedfur meowed. She picked up the leaf and padded over to Sparrowclaw, gently wrapping it around the rash. "There we go. It should start to heal naturally, but it'll take a while."

"Wait-- isn't there some kind of gooey thing (like a lotion) that can make it feel good? Or at least remove the feeling of needing to itch??' I ask, kneading the ground.

"I'm... Not sure," Spottedfur mumbled slowly. "Unless honey... But no. That probably wouldn't work. I could make a paste out of a few herbs, but I'm not quite sure what to use. What do you think, Frostpaw?"

"...Dock??" I guess, twitching my whiskers.

Dock: A plant similar to sorrel. The leaf can be chewed up and applied to soothe scratches.

"Great! That should work perfectly." Spottedfur paused. "But– we still have to go get some, because I'm pretty sure there isn't any in the medicine den."

"Where would we find it??" I ask, concerned.

"I think there's a patch of it growing not too far from here, back closer to the river." Spottedfur trotted off in the mention direction, motioning for Frostpaw to follow.

Frozenstar gasped for breath as she tried not to go crazy in fear.
Fang kept meowing,"it's ok Frozenstar their going to be fine,"

Spottedfur trotted quickly towards the river, scenting the air as she went. After a bit, she picked up the familiar scent and followed it to a clump of dock on the riverbank. "Here it is! Help me grab some, Frostpaw!" She stuffed her snout in the dock and plucked a few leaves.

I do all I can to keep up with Spottedfur, then she stops. I do all I can to stop, as well. I screech to a stop, and I quickly start snatching leaves from a dock plant. "mmm-phkay. mmph now??" I mumble through the bunch of leaves in my mouth.

Spottedfur tilted her head, looking at Frostpaw with a strange expression. "What..? Heh. Never mind. We'll just take the dock back to Sparrowclaw, make the paste, then take him and Grump back to camp." She hesitated, then added in a hushed tone, "I've got a feeling we should've headed out to the new camp a long time ago." She turned around and padded hurriedly back towards the clearing, again flicking her tail agitatedly.

I regretfully look down, and I nod. "Why does there have to be so much pain, and suffering?" I ask.

Spottedfur sighed, closing her eyes for a moment. "What would the world be without pain and death? There would be no consequences. War could be waged without a single life lost, but there would be no winner. Two forces, ever fighting, never stopping." She opened her eyes again. "Without suffering, pain, and death, we wouldn't be medicine cats, would we? Only warriors, living a life only for fighting."
