This isn't as practical nor serious of a suggestion as my others; it's just extra. It does, however, have a purpose. Please read thie entire post before commenting.

P23 - "Official" Tribehouse Category
A lot of people put a lot of effort into making good, outstanding tribe houses. The P22 category is a real category albeit it isn't taken very seriously. Sadly, most tribes are stuck with makeshift houses because they aren't aware of the amazing ones out there as the P22 category is filled with not only substandard houses but also random maps simply exported as P22, including but not limited to bootcamps.

What can we do? We can award the makers of amazing tribe houses with a "permanent" tribe house. While tribe houses are technically permanent as-is, these would be tribe houses of upstanding quality and which could not be edited. This would serve as both an award for tribe house architects and also as a category for tribes to find the house that they find most comfortable in without sifting through the endless crumby P22 maps that exist, most of which not even real tribe houses.

How can you make this practical? Here is the problem with the concept of permanent tribe houses: what use will they have? Well, aside from simply having a nifty list to look through on CFM, I've thought up a VERY simple and effective in-game feature to take advantage of this category: setting a "random official house." In other words, when setting your tribe house, you'd have the option between setting a map by @code or having the server randomly select a house for you through the quality maps listed in the P23 category. Since these maps would all be of greatest quality and comfort, it wouldn't take too many tries to find the map your tribe is willing to call home.

What defines "greatest quality and comfort"? Herein lies another problem: standards. Obviously we can't just pick a house we like now can we? That would create a definite bias. This'll be tough to decide, but let's start with proposed guidelines:
• All guidelines for P1 apply (alignment, originality, etc.)
• Should be a house or home of some sort: we aren't looking for gameplay so much as a place to relax and hang out with your tribe. Gameplay should come second to comfort and isn't necessary.
• Should accommodate a large tribe: confined maps and collision maps are a no-no.
The rest could be arranged and defined by map crew and members specializing in the architectural art of tribehouse-making. The largest problem with this suggestion, of course, is deciding which maps are worthy. The easiest way to do so would be the same way you do so with existing maps: test them. There could be a room specifically made to test these maps in where they won't interrupt the natural flow of gameplay in public rooms. This wouldn't really be an issue as there are already testing rooms made.

Opinions?

Vvarriorw a dit :
Not in rotation = not Official though.

Since when does the term "official" apply explicitly to rotation? Bootcamp, survivor, and vampire survivor maps are "official" and they are not in standard rotation.

P3/P13, P10 and P11 aren't in what you call "standard rotation" but still, they are still in their own rotation (P3/P13/P3/P13 or P10/P10/P10/P11). P22 are only a type of exported maps. A tribehouse doesn't mean TVs, sofas etc. A tribehouse can also be a No-Shaman map or a bootcamp. And at the top of that, do you really think the Map Crew will take charge of this? I personnally don't think so.

Just one small question: If your map is "P23'd" will it count as a higher perm?

And P23 would be within their own rotation. Let's stop arguing semantics, shall we? Stay on the subject of this suggestion, not what you think official means.

Also, map crew members specialize in different areas. Do you think the map crew would really take charge of vampire survival? Well, before it happened, you'd probably say no. But there it is.

I'd prefer your opinions on the suggestion itself and not these extraneous details.

This sounds like a great idea, but if you submitted a th map for the P23, since you wont be able to edit it, would a copy of that tribehouse stay in P22? This way you could pretty much just edit the original map, but if it was in P23, then it would stay the same as when it was accepted, but the one in the P22 status would change, so you could still make modifications for your tribehouse if it was set by @code. This is really the only problem i saw, not being able to edit it.

Other than that, this sounds like a nice idea. Support.

Support other than the concern that I won't be able to edit the tribe house after it gets P23. That would be annoying because when new updates for tribe houses come out I do have to edit to accomodate those changes (ex. video player) and sometimes I have to fix flaws or change a bed colour for a member of my tribe, or other various things.

No permanent/"official" map can be edited and with good reason: one could easily make it a completely different map or even a crash map or blank map. Similar reasons you can't edit P3-P13. However, you could request a map to be P22'd for edits. That's how it works already with P3-P13 edits.

Sounds kinda pointless to me, if you were really that desperate for a nice tribehouse you could just go manually find one on cfm. And if i'm not mistaken there's a thread somewhere in map editor forum for tribe houses

I like this!
Because many maps [Mechanism, racing etc] are exported as tribe house, but they are actually NOT a tribe "House" maps. So yes, I would like to see the real house maps. ^^

Fxie a dit :
boost

Boost is the new bump o/

I think it's a good idea because people such as you, wecwec and other people who spend time to make quality tribehouses, don't get any praise apart from the people in the actual tribu. This would atleast be worth all the effort taken to make a tribehouse. I think it would be a good idea but mapcrew already struggle perming maps as it is, if you add another category for them to look through, it will just cause problems as they may not look at it then map makers may get annoyed etc.
But I like the idea.
