This is a series of TFM poems I'm working on...and they are all related to the topic "Standing Alone". I know I'm not the best writer out there but I do appreciate critique!
This is my first poem: Pitch black

The darkness
My solace
I walk on the solid ground
Apprehensive
My footsteps echo across the silent room
Why?
I have to push forward
Leaving behind a shadow of my existence
And emotions, flooding the gates
And memories, swelling the lake
I have to run forward
The wind past my face
Whispering secrets
Into my ears
I trust no one
In the darkness
Dashing across
The path of life

The darkness
My company
My companion on
This lonely journey
Accompanying me
In cannons, in rain
Past the confines of gravity
It knows no boundarys
Past times I was frantic
Down the weather-beaten road
Face bent from the harsh
Lashing of the sun
Now feel comfort
In the quiet darkness
As I hope
And hope
For one day...

The darkness
My friend
My saviour
Yet my possessor
Should one day
I break free
From its tight grip
Fragile as my first wobble is
I might
I just might
Find a true friend
In the piercing light

The darkness
For now
I sit with you
And wait
And wait
And wait.

Twilight

I'm gone a long way since I started
The journey with my only friend
And now danger looms on the horizon
Twilight is coming again

Of unspoken silence, the enemy grows
And glows a quiet rage
Of Earthen wrath, the colours at war
Like a deadly battle mage

Of Hellish glory, the sky burns
Licking wrath with a fiery tongue
And my heart, so cold, is being alight
By the breathe of heaven's lungs

Tonight twilight shall descends once more
And I prepare to venture out
Maybe this time I'll survive, or die, who knows
The angel of death rules without

Guilt.
