Why is this needed?

Well, if you are doing a
[img] or [url], you would want to know whether you made a mistake or not. Even though it's just a small feature, it's pretty useful

When I mess up the BBcode in a post that has a lot of > or <, I have to correct it and change the >/<'s to the normal ones. It gets annoying.

The thing is, people might not want to make a fool of themselves because they made a mistake, so they would like to know the right way to do things. I am one of those people. And yes, it may be useless to you, but you have to think about others aswell!
