Real fullscreen mode (suggestion to make game a lot smoother) |

No that is not what you are thinking about when you see the title. Not making the game bigger. Short description: Transformice needs a fullscreen button which works like in youtube, google street view or facebook games (just an example). It can result in a better fullscreen experience and a big lag reduce. Detailed description how it works: So we know that we have dat fullscreen button which is very helpful to make out of map objects visible. But what it does - it just enlarges game to fit it into the browser window. But the bigger problem is - it decreases performance of the game. There are some really heavy maps, which make whole game lag and unresponsive until fullscreen is off. This is an explaination of my suggestion to make a game less laggy: Don't you ever noticed that a high quality 1080p video in youtube is playing smoother in fullscreen than in a browser? Or navigating in google street view? This is why: Lets open youtube.com and play a random video.. Then right click on the video and press "Stats for Nerds". This is what you see when video is playing in a browser: ![]() When you turn on fullscreen it says "Press Esc to exit fullscreen mode" That means the flash player gets into a real fullscreen mode. And give a look at the same stats table: ![]() So as you can see rendering acceleration turns on, which results in a big performance increase (for me at least). That is what I want to be implemented in TFM. So here my explaination ends. I hope you all understood and consider to give me a support. Please note that the info shown in the flash player may be different for you (for example chrome uses integrated flash player which always uses rendering acceleration but in fact it is even slower than standart player for me atleast). Also it can depend on every player's PC specs. (You should post in this thread showing what the stats table in youtube telling for ya) And I am sorry if everyone spent their time reading this while it is not technically possible (I hope it is) Also another note: official standalone has whole screen fullscreen mode, but it is different and turning it on doesn't make game smooth at all.. (there is no "press esc to exit fullscreen mode" message as I noticed) Supporters: Haruhitastic Voke Firebluestar Epicshawty Non-supporters: Abdeltif |

To be honest you probably used too many technical terms for the forum to understand. I also have noticed the lag you describe and this would be wonderful. So definitely supporting. |

Thanks for your support. I added a short description for those who don't understand or are just too lazy. |

Okay, now explain it to us, dumb people. Maybe I'll support then. |

Pixelatedfun a dit : Yup, that is what I wrote in OP for people to understand where that information comes from Abdeltif a dit : Please explain your decision :) Voke a dit : As I said in OP, flash player in fullscreen mode should deliver better performance, because hardware acceleration turns on and that means you video card comes into play and takes some load from your computer processor. Result - less lag? I just recommend to read my main post one more time and carefully.. Then you can try to test by yourself (but well, again as I said, some people won't see any advantage cause everyones PC is different, that's all) http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/full_screen_mode.html "By assigning a value to fullScreenRect before going into full-screen mode, you can trigger a hardware-scaled view of your video that plays back your video with even better performance. Because hardware scaling involves using capabilities of the user's video card, Flash Player will fall back to the original software-rendered full screen if the video card does not support this feature." http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html "By default, Enable Hardware Acceleration is selected to improve the quality of playback in Flash Player, particularly the performance of full-screen playback." Feel free to ask any questions cause I know this is not easy to understand :) |

So it covers the whole screen instead of having all those purple areas around the playing area? /support |

/support. Its like how it removes the purple boxes outside the map and the chat, gameplay & above bar is the whole thing? |

Firebluestar a dit : Outoflock a dit : ^ this. That actually does new option called "zoom in fullscreen" which makes whole game bigger but performance loss is noticeable and you lose fullscreen advantage completely (you cant see objects/cheese/hole outside map area) Epicshawty a dit : Removing whole bottom bar doesn't seems to be a good idea but that could be an option if someone likes it. Anyway if you want to know how it looks (screenshot from official standalone when fullscreen is on) ![]() Outoflock a dit : Remember, the whole point of this is not how it looks but how it should affect game performance. Lag is the thing we need to get rid of. |

I have a feeling this will be pretty complicated to do for flash content that's running through Adobe Air. Just to be clear: all you want is hardware acceleration right? |

Lemodile a dit : Exactly. Full hardware acceleration can be achieved only when running flash content in fullscreen. Adobe Air is needed for standalone only. Playing TFM in browser doesn't need Adobe Air to be installed. |

k mods may consider this as a necrobumping, but I'm glad this thread was finally added to the official suggestion list. So I guess this thread needs to be alive again. Other TFM players and all staff should pay attention, cause this can destroy our worst enemy - lag... I believe :) |

This seems like a great idea, but wont enlarging the mice to fullscreen lower the quality? /half support |
