Griffinscreech and her group searched around the shadows for shelter. "Found anything, Griffinscreech?" Moondance hissed through the slow sound of thunder. "Nothing, Moon" she responded. "What about you, Ice?" Ice slowly looked at her. His icey blue eyes bore into hers, making her shiver. She always had trusted Ice, but his dark mood always made her uncomfortable. "Nothing." He answered. "Maybe we're looking in the wrong place." "What's the right place then?" "Remember when we passed the plains, over the hills? I tried to tell you there was a Giant's house nearby." Griffinscreech sighed. She had seen the house, too, but the strong scent of Sharpclaws made her quickly change her mind. Sharpclaws are too big a danger for the team. "I found something!" It was Wild. "It is big and hollow!" Griffinscreech dashed over to where his voice was coming from. When she reached him, she stared into the hollow tree trunk, where nearby were some bushes and ferns with berries. "Good job, Wild. It's a hollow treetrunk. Everyone, in!" She had to raise her voice, the thunder was growing louder within every second. "Bluecloud, what are you doing!?" Griffinscreech shrieked. She was heading away from them, not towards them! "I think I saw a strawberry bush nearby! It could feed us for the night!" Bluecloud yelped back. Bee brain! Thought Griffinscreech. She'll get herself drowned! The rain is too strong for any of us! Thinking fast, she ran over to Bluecloud and pulled her by the scruff. Bluecloud let out an indignant shake before getting to her paws and running into the trunk. Griffinscreech followed quickly and hid with her. Compared to the outside rain, the trunk was warm and comfortable. But Griffinscreech felt as if she was being watched. "I think we're not alone." She whispered. "I dont feel it's safer here than it is out-" Before she could finish her sentence, they were ambushed by wild mice. They must live here! Griffinscreech realized, noticing how dry their fur was and how well-fed they were. We must have entered their home! Griffinscreech fought back, trying to shove off the grey striped mouse that was holding her down. We're losing She thought in panic. "Retreat!" She screeched. They all dashed towards the hollow tree's entrance, only to be blocked by three bulky mice. The fight stopped. Griffinscreech's team looked around, baffled, when they were shoved deeper into the hollow tree. Just then did Griffinscreech notice the tree was tilted. It dug into the ground, opening into an underground tunnel where there were younger mice and their mothers, elders and seniors. The mice who were pushing them into the camp pulled them onto a large flat stone. "Why did they bring us here? It's the heart of their territory!" Wild whispered fiercly to Calamity. "I dont know any more than you do." She replied. "I dont know what'll be of us!" "Ive heard of Wild-Mice before." Moondance hissed. "They're brutal, from what I've heard." "Well, we better get out of here before we're Sharpclaw food." Ice chipped in. "Can you all shut up? We might find out sooner if we listen, then we might get out!" Griffinscreech muttered impatiently. She didnt like this more than they did, but they didnt have much alternative, when there were guards at the entrance and lots of other trained mice. All the mice in the cave noticed them. Some looked hostile, others looked friendly, others confused. "What are they doing here, mummy? Are they prisoners?" a tiny mouse asked, to which a large light-brown pelted female mouse replied, "Let's wait for Shaman's word, then we might find out." Shaman? thought Griffinscreech. What's a Shaman? Why do they need to wait for him? A shadow fell upon the cave. Silence swept through the camp, and they all stood up and bowed their heads. A large mouse, larger than all the mice in the cave, with markings all over his body, tail item and feather came out of a semicave in the wall. "What is this commotion all about?" -------------------------------------------------------- Chapter Two - Prisoners "Well?" The large mouse's powerful voice echoed around the stone walls. Griffinscreech shivered. 'This must be the Shaman they were talking about' Griffinscreech looked at the mouse in awe. 'Who else could it be?' She looked around for any other possible leaders. All mice were bowing their heads, still as stones, waiting for a command. The powerful mouse took a step forward towards the team. "Who are you, and what are you doing in our land?" He queired. His chest was puffed out, and he was standing tall, showing authority over them. Arrogant brat! Griffinscreech thought indignantly. He's no better than us! We're just... smaller. When the team didnt answer, the Shaman took another step forward. His eyes burned with icey fire. The fur lifted on his spine, his ears flattened back, and he put his arms in front of him. Slowly, amazingly, something started to appear. Suddenly, a flash of light made the group flinch back from the brightness. The huge mouse was holding a round object in his paws, black, smooth, powerful. He had summoned a cannon. Griffinscreech's team fear grew. They couldnt possibly take on such a powerful mouse, let alone escape from it. Griffinscreech was just as afraid, but bravely pulled herself together and stood up as tall as she could, and replied, "We didnt mean to enter your home" She squeaked carefully. "We never even knew you lived here. With all respect, I dont think a Bigtooth or Sharpclaw would. We were only looking for a place to rest, food, and water. If we may, we will leave right now." Shaman's eyes shone with brief sympathy, but his gaze hardened within a few seconds. "Surely youve heard of us. There are thousands of Tribes around the woods and cities." "Tribes? What are you talking about?" Griffinscreech sounded utterly bemused. "What am I talking about, she says! I never thought I'd meet such a bee brain. Tribes are large groups of mice leaded by one leader, the Shaman." He explained. "There are many Tribe Groups. We're part of the Elemental Tribes group. We're The Tribe Of Flames And Fire. There do exist other Elemental Tribes. The Tribe Of Water And Rain, The Tribe Of Wind And Breeze, and on forth. Tribe Groups live in peace, only who are in the same group. Enemies are other Tribe Groups, like the Speed Tribe Group." He took another step forward, and said, "I think I have told you enough." A bulky guard came up to the Shaman. "Should we take them to the Cells?" He squeaked, deep respect in his voice. "Yes. Give them food and water, and only put two in each Cell. I do not want them planning any schemes." The group huddled together, while being flanked by guards who lead them over to a small cave entrance. Once they were in, they saw it was larger inside. Carved, as a matter of fact. Did they do this themselves? Griffinscreech looked at the smooth stone walls. Or did one mouse do it alone? Was it the Shaman? Griffinscreech was put in a semicave with Ice, Moondance was in another with Bluecloud, and Wild was with Calamity in another cage. Once the guards were gone, Griffinscreech told the others her plan. "We have to get out of these cells." Griffinscreech squeaked quickly. "These walls are too smooth to have been naturally created. They must have carved them. If they could, we can too. Check for any possible holes in the walls or cracks in the earth. They could mean the ground is softer there." They all scraped at the walls, attempting to dig out. Surprisingly, the walls didnt give way. In their desperate attempt to free themselves, they didnt hear the guards carrying berries to their cells. "It's no use!" One of the guards noticed their scrabbling, and mocked them. "We carved them with shells and stones. You wont manage empty pawed like that!" Whilst he spoke, he passed each of them one berry for both mice. The group looked at each other, eyes glittering with defeat. "We probably should rest, to keep out strengths up." Bluecloud whispered. The group grunted their agreement, and each found a corner to curl up and rest in. Griffinscreech sat down, trying to think something out. The Shaman wouldnt let them out any time soon, and we have no absolute way to get out. In the middle of her thoughts, she heard a voice. "Pssst! Over here!" A strange mouse fiercly whispered at her. -------------------------------------------------------- Chapter Three - Plan To Escape Griffinscreech's ears twitched towards the voice. "Stop dawdling! We havent much time!" The voice hissed again. This time Griffinscreech stood up and looked outside, at the floor and walls. Weird. Am I hearing things? No. She decided after a moment's thought. I definitley can identify a mouse's voice to my own thoughts. "Where are you?" Griffinscreech asked the unknown mouse. "What do you want from us? Are you a guard?" "Up here!" "Up where?" "Idiot! Up above your cell!" Her eyes darted upwards, and she saw the flash of leaf-green eyes. She scrabbled over to the edge of the cage she was stuck in, attempting to stick her head out to get a better view on this mouse. "I know how to get you out, but you need to be quiet, and you have to follow my orders." He whispered again. "How do we know youre not a traitor to us and an ally to them?" Griffinscreech suspiciously glared at the green-eyed mouse. "We dont even know your name!" With an exasperated sigh, he muttered "Im Owl. Happy now? No, I dont belong to the Tribe. I'm a Lone Mouse. Ive been helping prisoners out of the Tribe's paws for many moons." He glared back at Griffinscreech. "Now, will you cooperate or do you want to stay here? Night is approaching, we need to be ready by then." Griffinscreech thought for a moment. Should I risk trusting Owl for freedom, or wait for the Shaman's word? She shook her head. I dont believe I'm doing this! "Okay" Griffinscreech's voice came out sharper than she intended, and it echoed along the prison walls. Owl shot her a infuriated glance when two bulky guards came in. "Who are you talking to?" A dark brown guard asked, with a hint of a snarl in his voice. "Oh, I was, er, just talking to myself." Griffinscreech stammered. She gave a tiny glance upward and saw Owl's eyes full of frustration and annoyance. Sorry! She thought whilst the guards flashed distrusting glances at her and company before trotting off. "Youre a smart one!" Owl squeaked sarcastically once the guards were out of earshot. "Alright, hear me out. Once midnight strikes, the guards will swap spots. In between that time, there is always around 8 minutes. That should be enough to run outside. Before the swap happens, we need to get the cells losened, or else we wont make it out. In order to do that, you need to use water and shells to loosen the dirt and stones out of their spot. Sounds like a plan?" Dubiously, she softly clawed out a loose stone from the wall. "Alright, but I dont know if it'll work. We haven't too much time, and we dont have water nor shells." Owl looked into Griffinscreech's eyes. "I'm always prepared. I have moss filled with water and some shells with droplets of water in them as well." How did you manage to carry all that? She wondered, looking at the big wads of moss Owl was carrying down to her cage. She decided not to ask and got on with it, grabbing the moss he passed down to her. "Should I wake my comrades?" Griffinscreech quietly murmered to Owl. "Would be best if you do, and then tell them what's going on." Quickley, she prodded Ice awake and told him what was going on. "You what?" He hissed disbelievingly. "How do you know we can trust him? You barely know who he is!" "Calm down, Ice. We need to wake the rest and tell them what's going on. We need to do this, for our sakes." "Alright. I dont like this, but let's give it a shot. Now, have you any idea how to wake the others? We cant prod them awake, and we would alert the guards if we talk them awake." "We could use the moss. Splatter water on them." "Okay, let's try." They quickly splashed water droplets on the team, with the help of Owl, and they managed to wake them up. After repeating the plan to the team, Owl passed them moss and shells. "Dont dig in too deep." He warned. "If the guards check on you and they see gaps, they'll reinforce the dens and you wont be able to get free." After they managed to make the walls softer and easier to push, they cleaned their paws to leave as little evidence as possible. "Are we ready? Okay, let's go." -------------------------------------------------------- Chapter Four - Runaway Owl quietly slithered down from above the cell, and quickly dashed over to a corner, to where he vanished. A few moments later, he popped back up, and now that Griffinscreech's eyes were adjusted to the dark, she could just make out the outline of a hole in the wall. Lucky that the guards havent blocked it. "Area's clear. The moon has nearly risen above head, and the guards seem to have left." Owl's eyes glittered with satisfaction. "Let's go. Remember to make holes only big enough for you to get out, and leave as little evidence possible." The Team began gently scraping out the stones and dirt. Once enough space was made and everyone got out, they rapidly cleaned their paws. "We should hurry." Bluecloud whispered. "We wasted enough time getting out of the cells and cleaning our paws. The guards are bound to be back in place soon." They filed behind Owl, who lead them quietly to the entrance. Their paws made small patter sounds, and they splashed on little puddles that had formed overtime by rain. Griffinscreech nearly tumbled over on one of them, deeper than it appeared. Owl glared at her. Wild and Moondance looks around wildly in shock when a small cry came from a semicave. "Shh, dear one, it was just a bat, or perhaps an owl." "Mummy, what if it was a Sharpclaw? Will Shaman wake up to protect us?" "Yes, young one, now go to sleep. There's a bright day awaiting for you." Bluecloud looked at Calamity in amusement, and mouthed the word Nursery! They pricked their ears alertly. They could hear the soft snoring sounds coming from the semicaves. Bodies of large and small mice stirred in the nests. "Hurry, we havent much time" Owl whispered in a voice so low she almost thought she'd imagined it. Griffinscreech flicked her ear in acknowledgement. What he said was true, yet they needed to go slower if they were to not wake up everyone. Picking up pace, they trotted over to the hollow tree trunk entrance. Owl stopped abruptly before they went inside, so abruptly that she nearly crashed over him. "Whatsup?" Griffinscreech quiered. "There are no guards in sight! We have little time to get out." "I saw something. Over in the trees, in the sky. Somewhere above the woods." "What could you have possibly have seen? All I see is a full moon and stars." "I saw a flash of light!" "Youre insane. Let's go!" She lightly pushed him. Owl shook his head as if to clear it, and padded on. Once outside of the tribe's camp, Owl picked up a bit of pace. Cold air hit them. I suppose the Tribe's prison was better than out here. It's freezing out here. And it's getting brighter the more the moon rises. We shouldve waited for a night with no moon. We'll be clearly in sight like Ice's pelt in the middle of a meadow of roses! As they picked up pace, steadily going faster and faster, a shrill screech sounded behind them. "The prisoners have escaped!" -------------------------------------------------------- Chapter Five - Eeerie Glow "Run!" Owl shrieked. Even though they were far from the Tribe's camp, they could already hear the thundering of lots of mice running through the forest, and battle cries rang through the air. The group started darting into the thicker parts of the forest, where the shadows were darker and the brambles were denser. They could clearly hear the enraged howls coming from behind, and the screams and the words traitors and filth. Griffinscreech looked back and her eyes filled with shock when she saw a glow. It was the same glow that had appeared when they only just entered the tribe's home, the glow of summoning. Did they reach us that quickly? It cant be true. But they are fitter than us! She argued with herself. Nevermind it. We have to run faster! The light flashed and a cannon was launched at them. They picked up pace, fear in their eyes at the thought of being hit with one of those powerful cannnons, but they were starting getting tired quickly. "Halt!" A deep, rough voice sounded from behind them. Owl tripped over a rock and they all tumbled over. Griffinscreech fell on Owl while the rest stopped before piling after them. "Sorry!" Griffinscreech muttered while she got off Owl. "Owl?" A familiar voice rang clearly. They whipped around. Shaman was staring at Owl with infuriated eyes. "You're the mouse that has been freeing all the prisoners, havent you?" An ominous note crept into his tone. "Yes." Owl stood up and faced the shaman. "I always have and always will." "You know there are consequences for that, if you have spied us for so long." Shaman's eyes glittered in the dim nighttime light. "And you have nowhere to escape to. Give in now, and your punishment wont be as harsh." "I never heard about anything about what happens in Tribes." Owl's voice was steady, and his eyes fearless. Griffinscreech felt a flash of admiration for his bravery. She wouldve been frightened out of her fur. "I have only helped mice whenever the help was needed. And I wont give in without a fight." Griffinscreech stared at him with wide eyes. We're outnumbered, and they know how to fight! When did we agree to this? Ice flashed Owl a distrusting glance, and Bluecloud and Calamity exchanged horrified glances. Shaman opened his jaws to rebuke at the Multi-browned mouse. They were closed with a snap when an eerie, loud screeching sound arose. All mice covered their ears. It increasingly got louder and louder, until covering ears did nothing to muffle it. Shaman's eyes were wide in terror, and he screeched, "Retreat!" All the guards and fighting mice started scattering, leaping the way to the camp. Griffinscreech and Owl hid together in a berry bush, and the rest hid in bramble thickets and between the roots of trees. If you want to get an idea, like the Slenderman sound: At once, the forest air seemed to stop, the bushes stopped being ruffled by the wind and the night was still. Unnormally still. The screechy sound abruptly lowered, to become a softer sounded noise. The Team slowly crept out of their hiding places, eyes wide in fear and terror. "What was that?" Wild asked, horrified. "I can assure you it was loud" Moondance joked, though his eyes had a haunted look. A large bright flash came from above. The eerie sound became loud again, and there was a loud explosion sound coming from somewhere in the woods. The mice scattered once again, with new shock and pounding hearts. Their eyes were round in horror and their fur was on end. The woods suddenly seemed like a death trap; they were dark, silent, and eerie. A low glow came from what seemed to be a tree length away. Owl and Griffinscreech, pelts touching, came out of their hiding place, their fur fluffed up like a Sharpclaw's. "Look over there!" Owl pointed at the dim glow with his ears. "Let's see what it is." Too frightened to argue, Griffinscreech pressed her fur against his and followed. As they got closer to this light, it became a bit brighter, and the ground seemed to dip and tilt underpaw, with cracked dirt. Their eyes widened in awe when they saw the item clearly. "It's a star?!" -------------------------------------------------------- Dernière modification le 1410570240000 |

Chapter Six - Hazy Prophecy Owl stood stiff legged beside Griffinscreech, jaws gaping as he saw the burning rock, which had fallen on the damp forest earth. "Are you sure? It could just be-" Owl started "What's this?!" Owl and Griffinscreech spun around at the shocked scream, only to relax a moment later when they saw Bluecloud's hackles upright and her eyes wide in awe and horror. "It could burn us alive! We have to run!" "I agree, there could be hungry Redfangs, or Adders lurking around the woods." Owl's eyes were serious, ears twitching and alert for any sort of danger, whether from the Tribe or from the Forest. "We should go under cover for the night, look for food, and then you should be off. This isnt the sort of place for travelers, specially with Battle Mice trained and prepared for anything." Griffinscreech glance back at the "star". She felt a tug towards it, a strong pull to be near it. This isnt a normal star. It should be shining up above, in the sky. Why did it fall? I havent heard about this ever before, and I've met more mice than I have fur! Something flashed in her vision. Her fur lifted up on her spine, and her paws were frozen to the spot. She saw a mouse standing on a large and high rock. Her mouth moved, but no words seemed to come out. Rows upon rows of mice bowed down to her, admiration and awe in every eye, and they moved only when she was looking straight at them, seeming to give orders. Am I dreaming? She gaped at the powerful mouse, narrowing her eyes in attempt to make out more detail. Big and powerful, with the same markings and feathers Shaman had. She wore a hat, which was hard to make out, and had brown-and-white fur. Is that...? Griffinscreech gave the mouse another look. It cant be. She told herself firmly, looking elsewhere in the crowd. The mice were all huddled in a clearing, which had bramble bushes as walls, to keep predators out. She glanced back up to the powerful mouse. It's gaze turned towards her, sharp as stone, and Griffinscreech held her breath in fear. Can she see me? If so, why isnt she doing anything? The mouse's gaze passed her, and Griffinscreech took a deep breath, sighing in relief at the fact she wasnt visible, but even that sent a shiver down her spine. Her vision seemed to blur, until she was staring into the star again. "Griffinscreech? Griffinscreech! Are you alright?" Owl's eyes were full of worry, as he tried to get a responce from her. Bluecloud was staring, fearful, and beside her came up Ice and the group. "What happened?" Ice's voice was accusing, and he stared at Owl with an angered expression. "What did you do to her? Tell me, traitor!" Ice's hackles raised, his mouse claws sharpened and his teeth bared. "No, wait!" With an effort, still a bit fearful from her vision, she shoved herself in front of Ice. "He didnt do anything. I promise." "Then what happened? Why were you stiff? I saw fear in your eyes, and shock. I'm sure I saw correctly." Ice's eyes were full of anger, but worry hid behind the courage as he looked into Griffinscreech's eyes. "Im ok, I promise." She decided not to tell anyone about the vision. Not yet, not there. "We should find shelter. Night's setting in quickly, and we're all hungry." Authority crept into her voice as she commanded her group. "We'll need to find food, and quickly. Bluecloud, you have the strongest nose. Go with Wild, Moondance, and Owl. Ice, Calamity, come with me. We'll search for a place to stay in for the night. Let's all meet back here before the last light from the day fades away. Dont get lost, and dont get separated from your patrol. Let's go." Darting into the shadows, Griffinscreech, Ice, and Calamity looked around for possible shelters. "It cant be that hard." Calamity murmered, half to herself, as they trudged through the dense undergrowth. A familiar scent hit them. "Guys, can you smell that?" Ice whispered, his eyes filled with deep anger and fear. "The Tribe! Are they back to get us?" His fur fluffed up and his eyes narrowed. "I doubt it." Calamity's matter-of-fact tone slightly seemed to reassure Ice. "They must be patrolling. They cant possibly worry about a small problem like us, when the screech of the star shocked them so much that they had to retreat." Griffinscreech saw she had a point. "It's better to be safe. Let's head the other way." Griffinscreech told them. They padded away, and found an abandonded Rabbit hole. "Good, I suppose this will work for a settlement. Let's go tell the others." |

Chapter Seven - Rat Encounter They trotted back to where they said they’d meet, right beside the star. The meteor had already burnt out when they got there, put off by the humid whether. Bluecloud and her patrol were already there, waiting for Griffinscreech and the others. Good, thought Griffinscreech, They found strawberries and blueberries. “Good job! We also got lucky; a rabbit hole isnt too far off from here, plus, it’s abandoned.” She told the others what she’d found. All others squeaked in satisfaction. It was a good place to stay in for the night, specially since Rabbit Burrows were usually dry, except when the forests flooded, which rarely happened. They padded to the burrow, slowly but surely, carrying the berries. They were exausted by the time they got there. “I thought you said it wasnt that far!” Wild glared at her with annoyance sparking in his eyes. “We only got more tired going back and forth to keep all the berries with us!” Griffinscreech defended herself. “Anyway, we’re here, We’ll be able to have a good night’s rest.” The group nodded in relief. As they settled down to eat, they picked up an unfamiliar scent. “What’s what pungent odor?” Calamity complained. “It’ll rot my nose!” “Mine too.” Moondance added. “It’s worse than Sharpclaw spit!” The group nodded in agreement. Soon, they heard the patter of paws, bigger than a mouse’s, but smaller than a Sharpclaw’s. They enchanged glances and looked to where the burrow deepened. Red, beady eyes stared straight at them. They cant be adders. Please, let them not be adders! Griffinscreech shivered. She stared, horrified as a group of rats appeared from the dark burrow. Griffinscreech and the others posed to fight. Rats could, and would, kill and eat mice. They even had the guts to attack Sharpclaws! Their sharp teeth glinted in the moonlight, and their eyes were unreadable. They were never trustworthy; if you turned your back on them, you’d be a sharpclaw’s meal “Owl. Nice to see an old friend.” The leader rat seemed to be speaking to Owl. Out of all of Griffinscreech’s group, Owl was calmest. “Yes, nice to see you to, Sharp. How’s your group been going?” Owl’s tone was friendly when he spoke to the large rat. “Good, good. I see youve brought friends with you,” Sharp added pointedly. “What are their names?” As Owl introduced the team, Griffinscreech rounded up the rest. “Should we trust them? Theyre Owl’s friends, after all” Bluecloud muttered, looking at the rat to make sure he wasnt listening. “No. Mother told me rat’s were untrustworthy as sharpclaws! I’ll get rid of them.” Wild turn around to confront the rat leader, but Ice pulled him back. “Are you mad? They could easily kill us! Griffinscreech, what do you think?” Ice added in a softer voice to Griffinscreech. She narrowed her eyes indecesivley. “We’ll trust them for now. But be ready if there is any trouble to come.” The group nodded in approval. They turned back, and Owl padded over to Griffinscreech. “Are you sure we can trust them?” Griffinscreech squeaked uncertainly. “Of course we can! Theyre who helped me carry the supplies to the Tribe’s Prison,” Owl sat down close to her. “That’s how I got enough material to get you guys out!” Griffinscreech twitched her ears. They might save their lives as many time as they want, but that didnt make her trust them more. But all she said was “Ok, I suppose. We’ll trust them for now. Either way, we all need to eat.” “Right. Come on, let’s eat on what we got.” Owl added in a louder voice. “Sharp, do you and your group wish to eat with us?” “No. We already ate.” Sharp rasped. “You and your friends may feast. Goodbye.” Sharp’s group and him thundered back into the burrow, leaving Griffinscreech’s team uneasy, but more relieved. They settled down to eat, finishing half of the berries they’d brought. Griffinscreech took a corner of the burrow to rest, and the rest did the same. “Should we have a guard?” Ice queired. “Anything cou-“ “Do you not trust Sharp and his group?” Owl interrupted, obviously offended. “I mean, not just that they could attack us in our sleep, but other creatures outside could find us too.” Ice added hastily, but that only flamed Owl more. Even though furious, he didnt challenge the white mouse, and simply nodded. “A guard would work. I’ll take the first shift.” Owl sat at the opening of the Tunnel as the rest settled down to sleep.
