I know it's rather optimistic to believe this would ever be changed since it's a pretty big part of the game since the start, not to mention it's probably somewhat difficult from a programming perspective. But the fact is, particularly since Flash died and a lot more standalones started being used by players and introduced even more desync issues, headsurfs are no longer the funny mechanic that people are supposed to learn to deal with. They are an unpredictable, chaotic and unfair mess if you try to play with players with a significantly different ping to yours. I'm talking about survivor in particular where we would obviously like the game to be as smooth as possible in order to survive. Again, I'm not complaining of the headsurfs as a mechanic, it's more about how the game perceives them (and other laggy players) and I end up getting headed no matter where I go because players are lagging all over the place and the heads are, therefore, laggy, unpredictable, and cannons are basically teleporting all over the place as well as a result. Matches with more than 4 players from different servers in 1 room are largely unplayable and I feel I am being punished for having a significantly lower ping than my friends. I cant name any other game where one laggy player can have as big an effect on the whole lobby (by affecting the gamemode's objects for everyone that's non-laggy) as he can on TFM. So my suggestion is either lower the effect of mice's heads colliding with objects (particularly heavy objects such as cannons) or fix the desync issues more in the game since 2020 despite there being less players. |
