To add onto your idea, how about these: -When making your account, you are required to add a date of birth. If you are below 13, then "child friendly mode" is automatically applied to your account. -If your message contains any bad language, the entire message will not appear in chat AT ALL. Let me explain why I prefer this over the standard "!@#$" that replaces dirty language: When I was in 3rd grade I picked up a book from the school library. It was a diary styled book, where you read the main characters' entries to learn about the events in her life. In the book, there would be several times that a phrase such as "She's a !@#$%." and "I !@#$ing hate her" would appear. Being the innocent child I was, I asked my teacher why that was there and what it meant. He just told me a blunt "Those are bad words". My innocent self replied "like stupid?" and he said yes. Long story short, It fooled me for a while, but as I continued reading the book I noticed that there were different character lengths, and that they did not match up with any of the bad words I knew. Thus, my innocence was spoiled. This is why I don't like it when games show !@#$, because it just prompts curiosity. Kids can literally ask "what does !@#$ mean" and someone will tell them to turn off the filter. Not showing the message at all is safer. Anywho, /halfsupport because it is a good idea but the game IS intended for 13+ in the first place, therefore it's play at your own risk. Edit: One more idea: How about just adding another server where cursing isn't allowed? Like a "Christian Server" or something. You could apply the "child friendly mode" rules here. It'd work but it's a lot of money and the current servers tfm use are known not to be the most reliable, so I don't think tfm would go for it. Dernière modification le 1506983160000 |
