actually, given you literally apply by responding to the topic, I'm almost positive now that this is a late april fools joke.

Damn this topic makes me sad, it's either informed adults/mature players realising how terrible this actually is, or kids leaping at the chance to be part of a "secret spy network". 10/10 for manipulation.

Key things to note here: This was already done in the past, by experienced and trusted Moderators. Those Moderators have since left/been fired by Atelier 801 and now they're stuck, so they turn to inexperienced but willing kids.

Those who do start looking for these sites will run into the situation where a LOT of the hack links out there have keyloggers with them. They'll get their transformice accounts stolen, or worse. Whereas before you could trust the mods who would do this work to actually know a thing or two about the internet, you'll have eager kids trying to prove themselves by "reporting the most hacks" and getting their accounts stolen/computers virus'd. When their parents want to know why their computer has stopped working "I was finding hacks for tig", for a company that is so otherwise stringent about the "child labour" laws, I find this incredible.

Some kids who aren't part of the "Anti hack brigade" will probably take it upon themselves to do the "Anti hack brigade"'s work anyway, and look for hacks as a way to impress the admins and get into the team. A good few of them, when rejected from the team will probably find hacking fun and will start hacking themselves, or maybe sharing links with their friends.

Fact: Tig couldn't keep up with hacks before when he had a few Moderators sending him links every few days. Why does he think that with a team of people spamming all sorts of links daily he'll now be able to miraculously fix them as soon as they appear? Mods have been kept waiting for months and months for hack fixes in the past, obviously with this team that wouldn't be feasible, so what will change?

I'd hope that these pages and pages of replies criticising this move would change the admin's mind or at least prompt a discussion, but if I know anything about the admins I know that they do not listen and this is all pretty much futile. I only write here so as to have a record to look back on and laugh about when it all goes wrong.

Too bad the first rule for the brigaders is "use a Virtual Machine, here's how to install it, and never use your main account on it".

Uhuh, I wonder how many children will follow that exactly. Also, doesnt fix any of the other issues outlined by EVERYONE in this thread...

It's almost like you came up with this idea yesterday morning, oh wait... You did

okay this actually made me laugh mdr etc

but in all seriousness i agree with lew for the most part, i can only see this going down in flames. i mean at the very least if you're going to go ahead with this (which you are because hurr durr admins don't listen), recruit people who are 18+.

edit: alternative solution fire sydo and have the mods who quit and actually helped you guys come back???

I think we can safely assume they're not going to hire 12 year olds. With this many applications it will be easy to sort out the few people capable of following instructions, including the use of a virtual machine.

That being said, Lew does have a point. It always seemed to me that the problem when it came to combatting hacks wasn't the amount of working downloads being reported, but the speed at which these reports were being dealt with.

If you're going to have this many links reported, it may be worthwhile to make sure that double reports get merged, so there aren't any duplicate links out there. Basically a database. That should save some work.

Let's face it, if we step past the idea of AMG A SPY ARMY!!!!!!1!!!111!

and realise what this means... Kids will be going over the internet in the name of Atelier801. They will be downloading hacks if that is what the hack needs, because they have to be tested apparently. There are odds of a virus or a keylogger or anything coming with the file and getting itself stuck on the computer. From my experience with viruses, that's not fun or easy to get rid of (ahem, it cost me my computer once).

But naturally, the kids won't know this until it's too late (Who runs a virusscan everytime they download something? And who doesn't just click away the "This may be a virus" popup from their virus scanner?). By then, the entire safety of the computer has been compromised and someone else has access to whatever happens on the computer with the virus.

Now if a kid shares the computer with their parents, and the parents use the computer for monetary business, this could get fun. I hope you guys planned on making the kids sign a contract that will ensure that no matter what happens, atelier801 can't be sued?
Good.

I'll just sit here and watch this thing fail.

Would a sandbox not be better? That seems like a waste of time and system resources when somebody could just download and use a sandbox.
I'd expect people added to hack brigade to know what they're doing anyway in regards to viruses.
