I don't think so, My lotus was just a stump in the ground, I watered it and it became the unbloomed pink flower.
So they do work.

yeah it just stay as an unbloomed pink flower i used 3 water cans and 2 frets and it didn't even bloom, It seems this is the only flower that need to be take care of thats why it is "colorful onion" ? aka rare

Maybe it could be some kind of Enigma, Where you have to give it a certain amount of time, or plant a certain amount of lotuses, or give it some specific care, or something like that

It does it helped me once to kill the green colored bugs once (not sure it was weed or bugs but I think it was bug)
