I did send in a application, but I was just saying that you shouldn't expect me to be chosen. I have applied before, and I got refused. But either way, it wouldn't matter too much.

Even though impure qouted I must say that Impure actually once helper me when I asked for it some time ago.

You can't give a professional opinion on food if you have no idea how to improve it yourself. Every player in this game can judge whether maps are good or bad, but that doesn't mean all of them can decide for higher rotation nor does it mean that they can provide adequate feedback such as ways to improve (>"my grass ground looks ugly" <"make the width divisible by 40"). You must be experienced at making maps to provide such feedback as well as an opinion regarding the quality of maps given the limitations we have. In TFM, mechanism maps are revolutionary if they do something that might be simple as hell in every other game.

The biggest reason this statement is laughable, though, is that map crew is supposed to HELP users with their mapmaking needs, and this humor is multiplied by the fact that most of the map crew now is on /silence all the time.

Overall, I think everyone who finds this statement laughable thinks it because you can't help somebody cook if you aren't a cook yourself.

I think that you are right.

I think they are just few that really helped me, Includes Whiskypickle, Hobo and hatz.
Others, without saying names, dont help.

No one can help to cook without knowing how to cook.
I think the requirements should be atleast 1 perm map (preferably 2) and 20/10 p1.

I wont feel good if someone that barely have 1 deleted map would say to me "This map sucks"

We're not looking for someone to tell users how to create a ground in the map editor. That's barely the reason mapcrew was created for.
All we're ever aiming for is someone who can give suggestions to improve the gameplay in maps. Keep it interesting, fun and have it's own uniqueness.

Yep, you don't have to be the greatest map maker to know what makes a map fun to play or boring.

- Being a small team we are only recruiting people that speak English. In the future this restriction may be lifted.
- We are looking for people that can review maps and assist with the rotation. You don't necessarily have to be a map maker to do this.

Can we get passed this age issue already? Cptp nor any other similar staff member made the rule, the admins did based on their interpretation of some French law. If you want to dispute go speak to the admins rather than post on this thread expressing your discontent.

To be honest I thought the map crew was made for two reasons: to judge the quality of maps by TFM standards and to help mapmakers.

You don't necessarily need to be a mapmaker to know how good a map is by TFM standards, but a lot of people seem to think the worst art maps are P1-worthy underestimating how easy they are to make. That's just one example, of course. There are also mechanism maps that might seem immensely simple to someone who can't make maps.

However, I believe that if the map crew DOES exist to help people and give advice on how to improve (as the application implies by asking us to tell the mapmakers how to improve their sample maps) experience with the map editor is a must. You can't tell people why their mechanism map is broken if you don't know how to make one, you can't tell people how Rype's glitch works if you don't know (and a lot of people explain it as if it isn't as simple as "nails are connected at 0 rotation"), you can't tell people grass and stone grounds have edges at lengths divisible by 40 only if you don't know this, you can't tell people how to improve their art maps if you don't know how they're made, etc.

Given, you can definitely judge the quality of maps without being a mapmaker. Particularly P3 maps if you're a bootcamper and P4 maps if you're an experienced shaman. But helping people is much harder for not only the helper but also the helpee if the helper isn't a mapmaker and you're helping the helpee WITH mapmaking.

Also sorry if I come off as rude in any way, I'm not trying to insult anyone I'm just voicing my opinion. I won't riot because someone who isn't a mapmaker is in the crew, I just don't believe they'll be able to help users very much without the tools to do so.

I know people tend to think I'm attacking them when I say something so bluntly but I'm not. Just this is my opinion, and this is why.

I bet that Impure is going to be a mapcrew ^_^ So is Fxie.
