I'm almost positive they made that announcement and never actually did anything with it -- in other words, no.
They never took any of the suggestions in that thread, as far as I'm aware.

The Purple/Black and Yellow/Gold Berries are not exchangeable, you have to get them all by yourself.

I love this event but the Golden/Yellow fruits are so rare and hard to get.. so annoying -_-

That's sad to see that the admins don't give as much love as before.
That's why there's less than 15k people online per day, like.. it's dying... slowly..

Oh well, hopefully when they'll be done with Deadmaze, they'll start to do better events, and not repetitive events

You don't. You're supposed to collect the berries and you may unlock a new title/cartouche/etc upon reaching a certain amount of berries collected.

Even without the rewards this pachinko style event is something I enjoy, perhaps making it slightly shorter could help but this event is nice.
