Does it, though? Anyone can use a rainbow gradient generator and pose as a child. Generalisations and stereotypes are just as bad as trying to read rainbow coloured text, honestly. :^)

Its a generalised steriotype yes. But then again in most cases it can be considered the truth. Its a steriotype based on heuristic expienced based patern observing. Ofcourse there are the people posing as a kid and people who have their wacky preferences. But if you pose as a kid I doubt you want to talk about intellectual things to keep your cover safe.
Then again, I was only providing it as an reason for people to keep doing it, and not as a true basis. In general, it would be recommended to keep your text visually appealing and easy to read. This is a forum, not a art class with open interpertations.

Also I never said I was doing the steriotyping, the thing is if you act like a little kid on the internet people will asume you are a little kid and everything that comes with it. It's a thing people do in general. Ofcourse there are individuals that don, but I am talking about the majority. So if a person sees very bright and rainbow coloured text. How would he/she think about the person who wrote it? And how will it effect the way they interpertate the message?

To remove that bias, you want to be as clean as possible without any indication of what/who you are.

Just because you don't want to use rainbow, doesn't mean that it automatically becomes law that everyone else shouldn't either. Sure it can be an eyesore to type like that on the forum, but doesn't mean that everyone who uses rainbow is a little girl.

I don't think you got my point really. The thing is I don't steriotype, others do and will. Its a think everyone does. And think about how the way you act and treat things make others think about you. They don't know you, but they want to not be unknown to you. So people make up the rest of the story based on the little information they have about you. In this case its coloured chat.

Last time I checked, what got us here was the language and profanity in the game in relation to the average age of the player base. Not children masquerading as adults.
