Haruhitastic a dit :

The clan remark was in reference to people with the same fur. It's not "the same thing" at all.
In regards to it being a popularity contest, a lot of people who won on EN I've never really seen before, either
Shamousey was in the lead for the zebra fur, yet it seems now someone else won. And if a sentinel/map crew with a large following due to his module work doesn't win, it's pretty obvious it's not such a "popularity contest."

The words "clan" and "tribe" mean the practically the same thing so unless you wanna argue with the dictionary.. And didn't you already say those people won by exploiting a glitch? Like you said that right in this thread so which is it, are they nobodies who just happened to get a lot of points or did they cheat?

Haruhitastic a dit :

You explain in the second statement you made why exactly it's stupid for you to make this point.
Case in point: school elections and "class president." There's no reason for those too, but they have them. Why? Because it's fun for kids to come up with stuff for campaigns.

Lol no, because class presidents actually do something. It's not just a campaign and then they sit there for the rest of the year doing jack just for funsies, they have things they do around the classroom and the school. They have responsibilities because that's what class president is for, it's like when classes have something that kids take home for the weekend and look after, it's not just for fun it has a reason and that reason is teaching kids responsibilities and other things like that. Do you even have class presidents at your school? Sorry, but it doesn't sound like it tbh..

Haruhitastic a dit :
These things are capable of being discussed but the issue is they quickly turn trollish or into an argument, which falls under the rule of keeping chat friendly.

How (and why) would they (need to be) discussed though? x-ism/x-phobia aside, how are kids from different countries all across the world going to discuss half the things real politicians, mayors, presidents, etc discuss? It wouldn't even make sense if they were just from one part of the world because they still won't have real world experience about well, ANYTHING political really, because they're kids. They're not able to be discussed because from what I've seen, most players (myself included) don't know enough about politics to even discuss it to begin with even before it turns into trolling. And the fact it does turn into trolling just proves that no one really cares about politics to begin with or else they wouldn't turn it into a joke.

Haruhitastic a dit :

Go back a couple pages, all they do is pick the next fur on sale.

I know that.. I was saying hypothetically, not that it's what they're going to do. I already know this whole thing is just a stunt for them to get more money, which is why people who haven't cashed out on furs can't even do anything, because why would they add things into the game for kids who can't afford to pay them? Oh but wait, I actually did spent money on buying a white colour ages ago, yet I still don't have the option to participate so I guess that's wrong, it's not for everyone who gives them money, just for those who give 'enough'.

Tho it's real cute seeing kids beg other people for fur just so they won't be left out. That's certainly not horrible at all. :3

I can already smell the paid membership from here.

People who can't speak publicly in a community because they come from another country should also be excluded from being a mayor candidate.

Are you jealous of foreign players who have become mayors in your server? It is obvious that you are xD

The election system does not restrict foreign players for being a candidate or mayor in a different server as you may have realized that some of the players have become candidates or mayors in servers which are not their own. For this reason, i find your comment xenophobic because even in a virtual game there are people like you who act with a xenophobic mentality.

I think it's more to do with them not belonging on that server than it is xenophobia. Those from larger servers shouldn't be able to become a mayor candidate in a smaller server just for less competition and therefore greater chances of becoming mayor/president on the smaller server.

I have become a mayor in the Japanese server with my giraffe fur, and there wasn't any other candidate with the giraffe fur at all. I wanted to join the elections in the Japanese server because i love Japan. Furthermore, i got 22 votes so what is wrong with it? Can you explain this to me? Btw, in my main account i didn't even have the giraffe fur so i can't vote for myself. Mods can search for the people who voted for me, i wouldn't mind.

galaxywaves a dit :
Lmao no, it’s just a clever system Tig came up with out of nowhere that’ll make a feature community-driven instead of automatically-generated, you’ll see it’ll be fun and harmless

This is how I think it will turn out eventually as well. I just wish this wasn't so rushed. I would've much preferred a 2 week delay if that resulted in a properly functioning system. I perfectly understand everyone's frustration with the fact that so many aspects of this are broken or otherwise not working as intended or at least in a way that makes proper sense. I get so many questions about the election system and frankly I don't really have any idea as to what's going on about it anymore either.

Some of the issues being discussed here are easily explained though. Using "Clan" within the election system is just Atelier 801 surfing on the popularity of clan based tribes. Clearly they are offending or at least confusing a bunch of players with this, but overall it's probably a very effective way of making the election system more popular.

It was also pretty clear right from the start that some people would perceive this to be something that's very easily associated with racism. After all, people are being grouped based on the fur their mouse is wearing. It's nearly textbook, the only difference is that if you pour enough money into your account you can have any fur you want.

What I'm personally missing here is some way to make sure candidates are representative of their community. I think Epifistu's suggestion may be too rigorous (since there are plenty of people that speak certain languages or are from certain countries but live abroad), but it makes a lot of sense to me that if you want to be JP mayor, you should at least speak some Japanese. Requiring political candidates to originate from the country they're a candidate for is very common practice in the real world as well, so I do consider it very quick to judge (perhaps even convenient) to immediately call him xenophobic based on that. Anyway, one way to ensure that candidates more or less meet this requirement is to simply exclude candidates who speak the wrong language in their slogans (we currently can't remove candidates or slogans but I believe really hope we will be able to).

From the voter's side, I also think some restrictions are in order. These elections are all being held simultaneously, it makes sense to only be able to vote on one election. That means not just on one fur, but on one fur in one community. So if you're Dutch (NL community) and want to vote for a JP mayor, that's fine with me. But then you cannot also vote for an NL mayor. This isn't too strict so that people living abroad can still vote in whatever community they feel closest too, but should discourage farming as it disables you from voting in your own community.

Obviously those are just my ideas, your guess is as good as mine as to what Atelier 801 is going to do next.

^This, because having a brasilian ( I just picked the biggest community) player coming in a small server with his friends that could even bring him 3-4 voes will make him automatically mayor instead of the players of that country, i know it sound stupid, but this has brought a lot of racism in my community in a single day, and i'd more likely see this update sink in hell than go through all of that racism everytime there will be an election.

a dit :

I'm still quite against it, because:
PRO: You can't spam votes and whatnot
CON: If a big tribe decides to make someone mayor in a small community it will be really easy for them anyways. If it's a really huge tribe /group of players, they can go in one server, spot the fur without candidates, candidate themselves for every single fur and raid a whole "country" leaving the real players of that servers in minority, when it's time for them to elect the president.

Edit: Seems like they elected the presidend but we didn't vote for anything :-\
IDK what to think, this has been so rushed and no fun at this point

if anything, like other useless updates that they've implemented and tested the waters with, they'll delete it and never use it again.

If you want mayors to vote on the next fur to be on sale.
Why not allow ALL players to vote, instead of just a specific set of players? Wouldn't that be a lot better for the community instead of relying on these people.

The reason colours cant participate is that's an overlay onto the mouse, not an actual fur. They will have to recode how the entire shop system works.

Hahahha, the person Epifistu tried to define is me, aka, Xvicki :D

I was playing in the German server and i wondered whether i could join the elections in the German server or not so i decided to try it. I became a candidate with my halloween fur. When i became a candidate, there wasn't any candidate with the halloween fur. Next day, i got 4 votes and there also 2 new candidates too. Also, a friend of mine voted for me and i got 9 votes in total. I really don't know the other people who voted for me in the German server. By the way, other candidates got 0 votes; therefore, i became a mayor in the German server. To be honest i don't even think that they are German either.

I joined the elections in the German server for fun. I don't even care if i am excluded from being a mayor. I like playing in the German server :)
Almost every player and mod of the German server hate me. I always steal their firsts in rooms vanilla1 and vanilla2 of the German server. I like driving them mad to be honest. Epifistu knows me well from the German server since we have played a lot together in the same rooms. And now i saw Epifistu's message about me which made me think that "MISSION COMPLETED", again i drove them mad lol.

Actually, i don't want to criticize Epifistu because he just shows the common German mentality in the German server that they can't welcome different people. I don't mean all the people in the German server, but most of them are like him.

Yeah, i can't speak in the German server due to the language restrictions, but some people there voted for me lol. Go find them instead of crying here. I didn't even make a propaganda to persuade other players to vote for me. All the vote i got is just 9, and you are even jealous of it, Epifistu.

Unless you're on the BR Server. Then the grey fur is a mayor.
I'd suspect that colours were able to be mayor, but due to how buggy the election system is, it didn't work unless you got really lucky.

Not necessarily.
They wore a fur then changed to a colour. They remained in the voting. In the same frame that I was in the... orange/black/white striped fur thing (gazelle??) when I changed to zebra fur. So they at least did own one fur and ran.

If you think my posts are rule-breaking then by all means, report them.
I was making a statement that JP deals enough with stat-padders and foreigners stealing their firsts, spamming them as shaman and trolling during maps that invading the server and running for mayor only makes the server a more hellish place to be for them.
And truthfully, I agree that if you can't speak the language, you shouldn't be able to run. It's unfair for the people to elect someone and want to ask them questions about the system (which have been happening) only to get "sorry me no speak your language."

Also, if you have an issue with the way I speak as a Helper, then address it to Ratacp or Shambelbabel, or better yet, privately message me.

Don't worry, i have already reported them, but i don't think that any sanction would be put on you since you are a "forum helper". lel
Look at the way the forum helper talks in the forums.

I do not even see any statpadders in the JP server and the most crowded room i have seen in the JP server was 8 people. A statpadder doesn't play in a room with 8 players. I only saw like 3 japanese players in the JP server, they are crying for stolen firsts? lol It is generally americans who cry for firsts though. I have never seen a Japanese player cries for firsts. Unlike europeans and americans, Japanese players are so mature.

Read my messages again please. THERE WASN'T ANY CANDIDATE FOR THE GIRAFFEE FUR EXCEPT ME!

That's because japanese players can't play in their server because of the foreigners going there and ruining their game, so almost all of them left for playing togheter in private rooms or in en.
But i think this discussion is kinda OT.
