I think it's just a bug. Shouldn't really change the flow/use of the forums. It's a mini bug that will hopefully be fixed soon.

Try quoting someone with the issue and tell me it won't "change the flow/use of the forums."

Yes, I was getting whispers and my name was showing fine. Maybe it's the characters, like you said.

Quoting tags will result in plain-text. As far as I remember, it wasn't like that until now.
