Many people in TFM eventually quit the game or make new accounts while the old account stays and no one is ever able to use the name again. Take Ponz for example, remember in 2010 when he was #1? now he doesn't even play. So my question is, should the unactive accounts be deleted so their names could be used again.

This is a great idea it would make players more active to this game and make more users available to use
I support this

Suprodo a dit :
Some sites/ games delete inactive accounts to keep the servers from clumping up with too much memory so players can experience minimal lag in-game. I absolutely support the deletion of inactive accounts that fall under the requirements such as:

  • No email tied to the account
  • Less than a week played
  • 50 or less gathered cheese

If Transformice were to delete inactive accounts and free them to the public, I think it would be brilliant to keep those old usernames locked away only for users who change their usernames. It could motivate players to spend some money into the name change, which is also good for the admins.

You make an excellent point, maybe have a certain amount of time of inactivity like a year or something before deletion

Shouldn't be deleted. Cuz people have back up accounts but they never have the time to log on.

I think the inactive accounts should be deleted because some people use those accounts to troll and later the dump the account.

I don't support it, what if the unactive player comes back and sees that they're account was deleted? They'd have to start all over from the beginning

why delete the account if inactive?

A few reasons why a person might be inactive:
  • People don't want to play Transformice all the time so they play another game.
  • They would not have a computer anymore with the account on it for some reason, but then they get it again.
  • People had to go away from the computer for long for some reason cause other people won't let them.

for all those reasons, I think it's highly, HIGHLY unfair to delete an inactive player's account.

I don't support it. What if the people who are innactive come back later? Have you thought about THAT? :D

Yeah that's my reasoning as well.

taxical a dit :
I think that the "NAMES" of unactive account should be changed and free to be taken, but the accounts no. They should just change the acc's named to A252526 or something, all accounts that haven't logged ons ince 2013 or something

Fewfre a dit :
Since my thread got closed for being to similar (not surprised), posting my suggestion for this here (note: this suggestion DOES NOT delete accounts, but simply frees up names):

Should inactive usernames be up for grabs?
Topic: Should inactive accounts have their username (display name) up for grabs, both for new players and in anticipation for the upcoming name-change update?

Active (must meet at least one criteria)
-Logged in within 6 months of last login date
-High stats (over 50 cheese?)
-High total play time (over 5 hours?)
-Fraise purchased (real life money invested perms the account)
-Email validated

*All of these must be false for an account to be considered inactive; thus if even one of these is true, an account will be safe*

What happens to these accounts
These accounts would still exist (not deleted), just their name would be taken. Think of it like a reverse name change; instead of a name of your choice, you get some random jumble of numbers or something for your name. Or maybe your old name would have some special character added before it (kinda like how extinction accounts have a "+"; maybe a "-"), and upon logging in these players would be prompted for a new name (a free name change for the hassle; not that many of these accounts would ever log in again in theory). How they would log in depends on how the update is done; many games have your original username stay the same, with just the "display name" everyone sees changing. If Atelier 801 chooses this method, then removing names would be easy. There's a few ways this could go, all while preserving the original account.

The Logic
The criteria for inactivity are meant to ascertain what users have truly invest themselves into the game, and are most likely to log in again at a later date. And by only taking the game and not deactivating / deleting accounts, this prevents players from losing their account, but instead just their name. While this still might suck, it isn't hard to meat at least one the the above criteria, which would make your account safe from this. This also wouldn't remove your name by default once all of the criteria is met, but only make the name available to be taken; until then the name would remain safe.

So long as they have low stats/playtime I doubt they'd care.

I don't think so. In my opinion it's not a good idea because if you stopped Tfm but a year later you want to play again... and also if you played during hours and hours and in the end your account is deleted it's a little bit hard for the player...
But this is only my point of view ^^'

Definitely not. Maybe they'll come back later and find their accounts corrupted. I think accounts should only be deleted with the player's permission.

I say no. Some accounts may not play but that doesn't mean someone should just steal their name. I feel like if one of my friends got deleted, and then someone else took their name, it would feel weird if I saw them. Also, some accounts have great stats that people may want to look over a long time after. And also, there is always the option that someone forgot their password. It would get really confusing if accounts got deleted and people took their names. If I saw someone again that I knew, it would be weird to find out that it's not them at all, but just a player who has their name. All inactive accounts should stay, imo.

I was absent for few years and I come back. I don't play much like I use to due to work and personal things. There is some people who would come back so for your question inactive players shouldn't be deleted. How would you feel if you would come back to game and boom you can't as you been permanent removed, (surly isn't bother you know but one day would).

Sorry, not supportive. Some "unactive" people may have issues or problems that forces them not to be able to get on. Like so let's say romneymoon didnt get on for 5 months because of college. Do you want her account to get deleted :L
