Well, first off, I apologize for the moustache. (My brother) Secondly, if the tail is coming from behind, it should be closer to the body as it needs to sprout out of it's behind. Next, if the head is turning toward us, it's not quite facing forward, so maybe move the ear back, but not too much like I have. (sorry) This might be a nitpick, but I feel that the neck should be more pronounced and the arm kinda sprouts out of the side of the mouse in an awkward position. I hope this wasn't too harsh . O.O" |

Xinaug a dit : Well, for starters, it needs a mouth. Another thing, the tail needs to be closer to the body so you can actually see the tail coming from the body. One more thing. The bottom of the body looks a little to big. Maybe make it smaller? |

I just made this little..sketch Its my first attempt to make a Bobcat facing forward Can someone tell me how to have more success in this? I feel like its just a fail |

griffincraft a dit : Here's a bobcat in a similar position Ears should be pointing up a bit more, be a little more rounded on the top, and a tad bigger Head is a bit big compared to the body Cheek fur should be a bit longer and kind of falling downward Draw a mouth! Bobcats seem to have black around their lips Maybe elongate those legs a bit Bobcats have big strong looking back legs The 'elbow' of the front legs should be overlapping the torso a bit more, not starting below it like you drew |

I'd have to agree with Vulli here. I'd take Vulli's advice. I've red lined some of it for you: As Vulli said, bobcat's need mouths and the fur on their faces droop down. I think the front legs shouldn't puff out at the front like that, it doesn't look natural, I've red lined it so you can see more of what I mean. Bobcat's tails are short and rounded, not quite like what you've done. (Although I must say that is quite a nice tail). The tail part may be a little nitpciky, and sorry if I was a bit harsh. But I belive this might have helped. :) E: This was just quick... Dernière modification le 1403992440000 |

1 and 2 So for these, I've tried to fix the legs. You seem to have made the knees and elbows in the wrong spots, so I kind of fixed it, and tried to make the legs similar thicknesses. Ignore the feet. 3 This may be a nitpick, but I think the body is a bit long. I shortened it a little, and also fixed the tail upon seeing the picture of the bobcat Vulli posted. 4 Another thing from Vulli's picture of the bobcat, the ears seem to be an odd shape, so I rounded them a bit. 5 This is another nitpick, but to me the eyes look a bit crossed and the nose seems too small. You could also add a mouth to complete the face. *I don't normally critique things and this may not be accurate, so don't take this too seriously.* Dernière modification le 1403992260000 |

@griffincat round the ears a tiny bit the fur thats on the left side of the face looks like you put hair make it similar to the right side you need to make a ground, the front legs are higher than the hind legs right front leg, it needs to be even with the left left front leg, it needs to be longer, straighten it right hind leg, make it similar to the left, the bottom half of it is too long and not proportional - critique, anyone? idk where to put the tail Dernière modification le 1403994180000 |

Pinksrainbow a dit : OK, I'm not the best at criteque and am a bit nitpicky, but I tried! I re-drew it overtop the way I wouldve done it, and with black, thicker lines I wrote what could've been fixed: Overtop without text: Just redline: Overtop redline with text: I think you did the front paws too thin, and one is too small while the other is too long The hind legs are unevenly placed You should put a mouth to finish the face I think the cheek fur should be pointing downwards Thats about as much as I can say xP (Im not too good at computer art either so I screwed up a bit with the ears xP) |

denoytte a dit : Very interesting ear study you got there! Nice to get some feedback from a second source who also looked into ear differences and placements on rodents I never really linked together the whole 'base shouldn't go below the ear' Something I will keep in mind, although I'm not having quite as much ear dilemmas as I was having when I first posted asking for ear help hehe Thanks! |

Vulli a dit : No problem, glad to help! I like to study rodents and their feature a lot, so if you want help with something else just ask and I'll see what I can do- that goes for anyone else, as well! |

griffincraft a dit : I see you have tried improving base on the picture itself and i do clearly see the difference. However, i do want to point out that when you use a reference, you DO NOT copy the reference! You study it. When you copy, you are just looking at the features and drawing them. If you study, you will try to break down the reference as simpler shapes, and from there , try drawing the figure in different forms. Lets break down the cat figure vulli gave ya: so here is a cat, sort of breaked down. Is just to see shapes that you know. I mean of course learning their anatomy STILL is the better choice. However this is one of my methods when i am drawing animals that i do not draw often. ---- The problem with your new picture is that the legs are now going out too far, because you looked at the picture. The cat is standing on an uneven rock, its body (base on the picture) is not on ground. As long as the ground is not uneven, its feet should not be in a different level when standing (unless if it is handicapped?) like this guy Other mistakes you made is the neck. it is too thin, as for the head, it should look like a diamond shape, its ears take up the 2 ends (refer to my breaked down kitty!) The right arm of the cat cannot bend forward, its structured to bend backwards. The bones at its leg is too long and overall the cat itself looks abit too thin >.< "So how do i fix it? :o" Study~ Before you just the break down kitty and copy it again, don't ono" Try taking maybe 2 or 3 pictures of cats and try finding familiar shapes that you understand. Once you got the hang of understand where the shapes are placed, try redrawing your own without tracing. Start with your sketch 1st, then adjust with the shapes and then do the final lineart~ -------------- denoytte a dit : though is not meant for me but is really nicely done and i might want to try out too :D Dernière modification le 1404005040000 |

griffincraft a dit : It is a bear, no? I feel like it is because of the thickness of the body and its parts and the stub-like tail. |
