What happens when a person creates a thread for a bug and then decides to create a duplicate thread the next day? Surely that can't be allowed.

The only difference between Topic-487924 and Topic-490081 is that the latter is a small bit more detailed.
I reported this approximately 9 hours ago and got no response since then, so I assume you consider it unnecessary to lock, but why do you consider it unnecessary to lock?
Personally, I feel this thread is just adding to the state the Bugs subforum is currently in. Also, taking into account that the duplicate thread adds no substancial detail regarding the bug, should it not be locked?

If a sent is unsure how to proceed they may comment on it/ask another's opinion about it/leave it for someone else to take care of so it'd be better to wait a day or two before jumping to that conclusion.

Don't necessarily assume that unless the message that appears when you click the username/avatar of the post you reported, says: "reported and delt with", rather than "report."

Assuming you reported through the forum and not in-game nor IRC, as those posts just say "report".

Yeah, I understand that. I just thought they'd have some sort of resolution within 9 hours. Again that was an assumption I shouldn't have made.

Surely sifting through the same bug numerous times just makes everything much harder?

but five threads stating the same thing will be allowed to sit. I bet with this new rule, people will see a bug thread, then make a new thread with the same concept even if they haven't experienced the bug just to make it more noticed.

If it's a bad enough bug then yes, it should be noticed. The issue at hand is something totally ridiculous that is a non-issue being reported a ton.
