Add "Rape" to the Filter

Have you ever thought about the fact that people can use this SERIOUSLY?
I find it quite stupid that you are attempting censor a word which CAN be used legitimatly.

I don't mind it being filtered, as long as I can unfilter it. I just don't want it to be a bannable offense.

i used to say the word but then i got a little older and knew it wasn't a word to be messed with, even though it can be used in a legit manner, so i'm a little neutral about this.

Rape is one of those words with multiple meanings, what if I wanted to say:
"Yesterday I made this amazing potato stew with Rape seed oil"
I wouldnt be allowed to say that would I.
Personally I think that whatever word is added to the filter, people will find a stupid way of saying it to sneak past the filter, such as "RAEP" or "R@PE". Also if you attach them to other words like "I thinkrape is something to not joke about". It wont get filtered, so there really is not much use.

Anything can have mutiple meanings or context. However certain things are just things ppl shouldnt joke about. Will people get around the filter, yes, but will it cause less headache for anyone it bothers? probably, something is better than nothing.

I don't think that the word "rape" is particularily a bad word. People just use it in the wrong way. Rape is a serious matter and shouldn't be used wrongly; I agree with you on that. Although, it can be used seriously. I don't really think that this should be added to the filter. "Rape" is an actual word that can be used legitimatly. I think we are going to have to do something about people that use the word in a vulgar way, but i don't think censoring the word is going to do much good. As you can see, it hasn't done much good as of now.

Taking a glimpse at the TFM community and chat in TFM, I think we notice this trend: rape is never used legitimately. And those who would typically already have the fucking filter turned off so it makes no fucking difference. The vast majority of players in this game, however...

In one of the random tribes I was in, some girl said a guy (another player, that is: not in real life) tried to rape her. No. Just no. Yet this is the context in which the word is used the vast majority of the time in this game. Maybe if the little kids who misuse this word find it censored out they'll be deterred from using it.

Rarely is not equal to never.
(It can be used legitimately and it certainly IS used legitmiately, however I acknowledge that most of the times it is not used legitimately)

Also I find it ludicrous how you are attempting to add words to the filter when it can easily be worked around and or turned off, meaning it is useless anyway.

But fine, if you want to censor words out(because your little mind can't take it or whatever reason. I always imagine people reading the word fuck then crying out loud saying "I've been scarred for life" when thinking about any word-censorship system, god it's so silly.) have it your way.

Sorry I just think filters are absolutly unnecessairy and useless in any chat. If people want to say nasty and stupid things they will certainly find a way to do this without using the specific words. (Alone writing r4p3 would work).

This isn't the debate about the necessity of filters, this is about adding a word to the filter for those who use it. For those who don't want their words to be filtered: turn it off. For those who don't want to hear the words: turn it on. There's absolutely no reason to bypass the filter since it's entirely optional, other than to make a total dick of yourself intentionally forcing filtered words onto people who have the filter on.

Now let's get back to the topic of adding a hurtful and sensitive word to the filter and not discussing the necessaity of the filter itself, shall we?

My only worry with this is having the censor list become crowded with every other word that bothers someone. And then someone pointing out that having the /filtre command annoys them and we end up with a game where we are limited by what we can say.
I understand with a word like rape on a game aimed at pretty young kids however.

This is so true. I get irritated when people re-direct the conversation on a Suggestion thread to something that's not relevant to the suggestion.

As for this suggestion, this is a case where if you no support it, there's a few reasons why:

1.) You don't care about this suggestion, or you're passive/not even worried about it, and by no-supporting it even though you don't care, shows that you also don't care about the well-being of others.

2.) This is a suggestion that, if implemented, wouldn't affect you if you wish to leave the filtre turned off. Yes, we all know that there's ways to get around it, but like Fay said, for someone to get around the filter to "forc[e] filotered words onto other people who have the filter on", is just a low move. Besides, why no-support if it won't affect you, and will help those who wish to have it removed from their chat?
