also what do you use to draw? I suggest gimp to draw with in the future becuz i started with paint, then i moved to gimp and it worked much better, but a bit confusing at first.

1. look up http://www.gimpshop.com/ in the URL (search bar in top left corner. very top.)
2. Do you have windows? Or mac? Click either "Download for Mac" Or "Download for Windows"
3. after that follow the instructions it offers.

now heres how to use

when you pres pic of the brush or pencil you might see two colors overlapping eachother, prob black and white. If you see that, click the toppest one and change color, then draw.

As for the other tools, move your cursor over them for their names, and then just experiment with them.

Does that help?

oh and if you dont want white space when you 'fill' in a space with paint, use the pencil instead of the brush to draw with.
