If that's the case I guess I'll just repeat Bigcrushes' question: which "mini-minigames" do you propose should be out? So far I've heard race-camp, what else?

i dont see the issue with the current games though they seem pretty original to me o-o

I'm sure if you've played it you have some as well, yes? I'm sure I'm not the only one who notices these pace-killers.

I said racecamp and vampire survivor (which in addition to being an official minigame already has another module version as well).

Racecamp is something that existed on its own before and with good reason: it's its own minigame, and adding it to bafflua simply feels like hopping around minigame rooms rather than playing a bunch of simpler games in succession. It's a complete independent idea all its own, and adding such independent minigames feels more like bafflua is trying to just include everything everywhere instead of being a comfortable flow of simpler, carefree games.

Vampire survivor with meep is two entire minigames smashed into eachother: survivor and vampire survivor. I don't think adding meep constitutes cloning vampires for the third time, and vampires itself is an independent free-standing game so it doesn't fit regardless

To my understanding a suggestion for a shaman-centric minigame called #spawnzones was shoved into bafflua recently, and given the amount of detail and how most mice just wait for the shaman who does most of the work, it's a lot more involved in the skill its based on and that level of detail stands independently, again not fitting with the pace of bafflua. The existing shaman minigames in bafflua aim to reduce the effort to shaman as much as possible, speed things up, make a really simple and fast round which fits with the idea of bafflua. This, on the other hand, doubles the effort and thinking involved in this specific minigame and it's not something you can just jump into like the rest.

Again, it feels as if bafflua is incorporating these things into itself simply to do so. Kinda like taking any idea you see before anyone else can, then pointing to bafflua and saying "it's there, if you want to play it go to #bafflua0spawnzones."

Ultimately, the minigame-specific room convention facilitates this problem and I think without it you'd find a lot less interest in bafflua because a lot of people are interested in playing these minigames, not bafflua itself. At that point you find the problem: these minigames should exist on their own.

true that there are pace killers.

could i ask are you trying to state the way bafflua is currently run , not the concept of it, is causing it to push out other new games?

Yes, by merging ideas into the bafflua paradigm, work on those ideas as individual minigames is discouraged ("well, it already exists in bafflua!")

I would've liked to see a dedicated #spawnzones room, for example, where I could play the minigame with more people and have a larger map selection as an independent game naturally would.

By packing such games into bafflua, you hinder them. They can't be as fleshed out, bound by the construct of bafflua; more players of that game aren't regularly on because it's hidden away in a subdomain of bafflua; less maps exist in said game's rotation.

You could say "it's just a game" to just about anything relating to games. If I have nothing better to do, I'll put thought into a game I enjoy and improving it.

yeah but would taking away functionalities really improve transformice or is it just getting up on your high horse about something because it isn't technically allowed?

You do realise the discussion has moved away from that...

but you could think of bafflua as a stepping stone to further developments in these games.

You could see the intention to fix the issue of having minigames that can't run by themselves. But it is more for diverse gameplay content. A lot of players might like a minigame but don't want to play it every single round. And having something else play makes it a lot better. Relax a bit.

I'll just agree with this general notion. Let be what is good and fun for players.

As far as it goes for the exhibition of the potential minigames in bafflua meriting their own room, that's all up to Sydoline (Since she is the community manager and more often than not talks with us than Tig does). If we send in a minigame and she doesn't see it fit for a room, it's not made official.

When it comes to parts of bafflua becoming full minigames, if it's good, people will recognize it's and someone will export it. The reason this hasn't probably happened is because coders are only allowed to export two minigames (probably why Shamousey wanted to make the most entertaining minigame possible for players, one that isn't monotonous and brings something new each round), which is under Tig's power.

Question is, do you really want those minigames to be standalone, or do you just dislike that bafflua has so many features?

I would like to see the spawnzones independent, I'm sure others would like to see an independent racecamp but that isn't really too interesting without time records either way.

I'd also not like to see these big out-of-place games in bafflua. I couldn't enjoy bafflua itself because there were things like these that, after a 30 second minigame, felt dragged out and just killed the vibe that was bafflua when it was originally made (and before it was official, not sure when this change was made).

It's bad for both bafflua and those minigames.

The "features" are a different topic: I don't feel it's fair that legitimate scripts made for these features were rejected yet these riders exist in bafflua that have nothing to do with bafflua. It looks like bafflua is trying to expand beyond a minigame into a separate module [again]

The development of those concepts is hindered in a way very similar to how minigames given this insignificant role is. Perhaps the allowance of those types of scripts in the module is a different topic, though.

As John said, developpers are for now limited to two minigames. When the API will be released officialy, we'll raise this limitation and most of these minigames will probably get their own room.

Some of the games that were in the old Baffbot should remain in Bafflua like Reverse Survivor, Balloon and Trololol etc. But It would be nice to see them in it's own room. I agree with Fixie about the monopolizaton but ffa was removed as baffler asked to.
