tap into next tab for chapter 3 !!! shorter tho Chapter 3 : Batter Physical education. Landon, Hespera, Karma and Valerie’s absolute least favorite subject. Though Valerie knew this one guy, and he was all up into sports. “Lance Kingsford!” the name was called out and a middle-height, oddly blue-haired mouse stood up. His fur was black but despite his odd appearance, Valerie told the trio he was nice to be around. “Valerie Aberline, Hespera Chamber, Landon Chamber, Karma Yatikasaru!” the four stood up and muttered “yes” under their breath, walking over to the field. Despite it being November they were outside. Well, until it was going to snow at least. They were going to play … cricket. Of course, god-forsaken cricket. Valerie told Hespera it was Lance’s specialty and the black-haired girl mouse wasn’t surprised to see the dude light up. The mice were told to line up, so they did. The teacher split them into teams by giving each mouse a number. One or two. Karma and Landon were in the same team. Hespera, Valerie and Lance went to the other side. Karma elbowed Landon who hissed. “Looks like we’ll lose this. I’m the wicket keeper.” He said, standing in front of several wooden sticks. Landon was a bowler. His objective was the throw the ball back. Karma had the feeling that both him and Landon were going to acquire some bruises the moment Lance picked up the bat. The ball flew at overwhelming speed, past Karma and hit the wicket behind him. The match went on, Karma and Landon getting hit multiple times. Their batter wasn’t that bad either though the opposite team’s wicket keeper was skilled. *** Karma and Landon sat in the pharmacy, bandaged up. Hespera, Valerie and Lance were also there. The blue-haired athlete spoke up. “Sorry guys. I didn’t mean to.” He looked genuinely apologetic. Landon smiled faintly and Karma grinned. “That’s fine.” The black-haired male mouse replied. “Nothing less to be expected from the school’s finest batter.” Lance laughed and looked away. “Nah, I’m not worth the praise.” After Lance, Landon, Hespera and Valerie exited, Karma was alone. He had noticed Valerie looking around the infirmary with awe earlier and took off his eyepatch. The same brilliant, warm light spilled across the room. Karma saw an angel sitting on top of one of the cupboards. He looked alike Michael but with short, curly mint-colored hair. His eyes were a brilliant green and the angel mouse was also wrapped in white silk. He turned his head to Karma. “Oh, hello there!” “…Who are you?” Karma inquired. “I’m Raphael, the angel of healing. …Hence the infirmary, hehe.” The orange-haired mouse breathed out. This one seemed less stern than Michael. “So you and your friend got all of that from cricket?” Raphael said, gesturing to the bandages and bandaids. Karma nodded. Raphael continued talking. “I also see… you met Michael.” “Yeah. He called me little lamb.” After saying that, Raphael chuckled. “He does that. We’re used to it.” “Wait so, he does it to you guys too?” Karma asked. “No. We’re just used to see him doing it to mortals such as you.” The mint-haired angel paused and shifter his paws, revealing that he was holding a golden scepter embedded with vibrant green gems. It was short, not long enough to be a staff. “What’s that?” The black-furred mouse asked, pointing at the staff meekly. Raphael raised the staff, looking at it. “Oh, this? It’s my healing staff.” He paused. “I can heal your wounds faster if you want.” Karma grinned and nodded. “Go ahead.” Raphael swooped down from the cupboard, enveloping Karma with the soft, feathered wings. They were tinted a light sky blue. Karma felt the throbbing pain of a wound on his head slowly fade away and a freshness filled his consciousness. He fell asleep on the infirmary bed. |

chapter 4 done. Chapter 4 : Almost Alexandria Next day. November was still upon the small English town and the skies were gray with rain. It was Saturday, so, Hespera decided that instead of lazing around she’d head to the school’s pleasantly oversized library. The halls smelled of books bound in leather and tall, wooden shelves. Dim green lamps were set across tables and lit. A librarian mouse lady sat at the desk with a pair of brass spectacles perched on her short snout, a beige poncho on her shoulders. Big windows let in surprisingly little light as the sky was gloomy outside. Hespera’s heels made a soft tapping sound against the wooden floor covered with long carpets, almost as long as the banisters that hung around the school. The carpets were a similar scarlet color with edges frilled and dipped in gold. Tap tap tap. The rain outside outsped Hespera’s steps. Her black hair bounced when she stopped by a shelf, dragging out several books at once. They were all labelled “History” in various types. The mouse stepped over to a table and carefully set the books down, but they released a soft thump anyway. She went to a different shelf, pulling out more books labelled “Religion” and “Catechism”. Hespera finally popped down on the chair lined with red velvet. One of the history books had a blue bookmark in it. She opened that one and resumed reading nonchalantly. While it is true that she liked math and physics, her brother had dragged her into the worlds of the past. Hespera always used to read Landon’s books with him, often reluctantly. Eventually though she began to like the events that passed and dove straight into anything that interested her. This chapter was about Europe’s renaissance. Hespera was a fast reader with a good memory, though, she liked staring at the pictures and studying them. The frilled gowns in pastel hue, the old paintings that were added into history books. Flipping and skimming thorough pages, Hespera discovered an another theme that interested her. Europe’s period of witch hunting trials. Sure, they were brutal, but Hespera always searched for a hidden motive behind mice’s actions. The witches were burned at stake, drowned. There were pictures of them being put in coffins with internal spikes. Were they real witches though? She asked herself. Taking out the bookmark she switched to a book about religion, Christianity in particular. It was bound in white leather with golden, cursive letters gracing the cover and spine. Angels’ Wisdom. That was the title. It was thick with surely over a thousand pages. They were thin, thinner than usual. A layer of dust rolled off of it when Hespera opened the tome and wrinkled her nose slightly. Inside, it looked like any other book. Flipping through the next couple pages, Hespera skipped the forewords. It seemed to be sectioned like the Bible and the text was small. She began reading. The writing style was ambient and the author wasn’t even named anywhere on the book. The black-haired mouse was pretty sure the leather cover was the only cover on this one. She sat like that for a couple of minutes and after suddenly looking up, she realized her surroundings had been lit up. The background and far parts of the library were still darkened but Hespera’s direct surroundings shone with a brilliant light. It looked very surreal, to say the least. Turning around, she was temporarily blinded. Squinting, Hespera could see a blurry shadow against the light. Something fell to the ground. Upon her vision adjusting to the blinding golden light she noticed feathers. After blinking a couple of times, a tall, elegant shape stood before her. “You’re reading.” “Yes…?” she replied reluctantly. “Do you plan on finishing that book?” the tall mouse pointed to the white leather-covered tome behind her. “Not today but… sure.” Hespera shrugged. Something that could be compared to a laugh and an exhale at the same time escaped the mouse’s lips as he lowered down to the floor, since he was floating. The golden light dissipated revealing a snow white mouse with wavy, brown hair dressed in modest white silk with long puffed sleeves. They were lined with golden curls at the cuffs. Spectral glasses nearing transparency graced his face, making the hazel eyes shine more than they normally would. The feathered wings were tinted a golden hue. “I am the angel Harahel.” He paused. “Angel of wisdom?” “Correct. I am honored you decided to take up that thick book.” He leaned slightly, looking behind Hespera at Angels’ Wisdom. “It’s caught my eye quite a few times but… It seemed to move around whenever I tried to look for it. Seems I finally got it!” she smiled. A faint smile graced Harahel’s lips, too. “I wrote the book, hence, no author.” He said. Hespera’s mouth acquired an “O” shape but then she smiled again. “That’s great! Now I’m definitely going to finish reading this!” she said, casting a quick glance to the librarian across the hall. She didn’t seem to notice. “But…” Hespera paused as she realized something. She looked mildly perplexed. “How come I can see you…? I don’t have the Sight…” she paused. “It is as you say. You do not have the Sight. But since you opened the book, I decided to reveal my whereabouts.” Harahel smiled, this time his eyes filled with a warm feeling. “I mean, nobody’s picked that up since it arrived in the library.” Hespera’s face turned from confusion to utter surprise. “Seriously?!” He nodded in confirmation. “Wow… must’ve felt terrible.” The angel shrugged. “Not really. I forgot about it, as I had other matters to attend to.” Harahel soundlessly stepped over to the table which Hespera sat behind and pushed the tower of books aside. Miraculously he didn’t knock any of them over and sat down on the table, locking his paws in his lap. “So, will you read or will you talk?” “I think IIIIII’ll…” Hespera paused with a grin on her face. “Talk! You’re the angel of wisdom, so I bet you can tell me plenty of interesting things!” she said happily. Harahel nodded. “Then let it be so. Oh and, this library reminds me of the one in Alexandria.” “Seriously?! You've been to Alexandria's library?!” |

a longer one latin translation: rise of the dead. Chapter 5 : Queen of Witches “Aren’t you going to do something? You picked him, right?! Go!” “Shut up, Hecate. He’s talked to two angels already.” “Is that a problem?! Oh, let me guess. Is it because you’re a former Seraphim?” Lucifer growled. “Do you want me to lock you up with Abaddon again?!” he snapped. The female mouse clenched her fists and let out an audible groan, her shoulders dropping. She turned around with the short mantle flaring after her. “It’s because as long as their presence hovers around him they’ll find me.” “Can’t you dispel it?” “Not that god damn easy.” The black mouse with curled horns sighed and turned his head back to a maroon-colored orb, sitting atop a pedestal. “And it doesn’t help they go to church all the time. Hmph.” Hecate turned around and shrugged. “Ruin it.” Lucifer snapped after another one of Hecate’s blunt comments. He walked over to the grey-furred mouse and grabbed her by the wrist, hurtling her across the room and into a distant portal. The portal led back to her mansion. The queen of Witches landed face-first into the stairs, acquiring a couple of bruises. Dragging her paw over her scarred face the wounds disappeared with a quiet sizzling sound. Her tall heels tapped against the obsidian steps, but instead of opening the door, Hecate chose to walk right through it. Like a ghost. Her target was her peaceful room on the very top floor, also where she kept all the clairvoyant tools and… voodoo stuff. Dolls, pins to put in the dolls, potions… Well, duh. She was the queen of Witches. After Hecate arrived at her quiet room she brushed the black hair out of her face and sat down on the bed. After a few seconds, a similar orb to the one Lucifer had appeared in her lap. It was wrapped in red satin sheets and pulsing weakly. Tapping on the orb a couple of times with a clawed ring that sat on her paw, an image materialized. It was of the boy Lucifer picked. Karma Yatikasaru. “Tch, he’s nothing but trouble. Just like Lucifer.” Hecate paused and grinned. “What fun!” the queen clapped her paws and dispelled away the orb. She fell back on the large, circular bed with curtains and closed her eyes for what felt like an eternity. Red candles lit the room with a calm, warm light. Their flames danced on the bed’s silver arches and the satin fabric draped all over the place. Hecate opened her eyes again and realized only two minutes had passed. “I’d better get ready.” *** Dusk was upon campus of Sanctuary High. It got dark very quickly in October and the sky was painted a dark pink at the horizon. The sun’s last rays cast a few pitiful rays of red light across the surroundings. Everybody was on their way back to the dorms, or the school building depending on what they had to do. After the day’s lessons ended everybody had a few hours of free time before the curfew. The evening was chilly with clear skies. At days like these, many mice enjoyed going up the cliff next to the school and viewing the sun setting beyond the raging sea. Landon and Hespera were there now, chatting about history and the white leather-bound book Hespera started reading. A gentle wind caressed the siblings’ hair, but the sea below was restless. Landon cast a quick glance at the horizon. “Sun’s down, we should go.” “Okay.” Hespera nodded. Upon turning around the face the school building, Landon squinted. There was a figure standing on one of the towers, or so he thought. Karma was strolling along the road that was parallel to the main school building. He had just finished sketching the sunset and carried the papers and drawing utensils in his paws. He kicked around fallen leaves and watches the other Academics and Clerics stalk back to their dorms. There were 30 minutes until curfew. Dark clouds dotted the navy sky, with faint red shimmering in the distance. Suddenly, a strong wind whipped up around the area lifting leaves high up into the air. So much was amassed that it almost created a hurricane. Landon and Hespera’s eyes widened, they were still crossing the hill. Running downwards and struggling not to trip over the rocks in their way, the siblings spotted Karma in the middle of the whirlwind. It was so violent that it tore off Karma’s eyepatch and scattered the papers across the school grounds. Hecate stood atop one of the towers, the cape flaring behind her. A witch hat in a matching color set with skulls and shimmering gems was on her head, held in place by her paw. In the other one, Hecate held a long, slim scythe. There was a violent cawing of crows surrounding her as dark, feathered wings sprouted from the queen’s back and she lowered herself in front of Karma, not bothered by the wind her minor demon subordinates had whipped up. “Hello there.” She smiled, baring sharp fangs. “Lucifer’s been pissy lately. You should really stop talking to angels, kid.” She took a step closer and Karma backed away. “W… Who’re you?!” he asked trying to raise his voice over the howling wind but also struggling not to stutter. She raised her scythe and a big, fat crow landed on it. “Hecate, the Queen of Witches!” she stepped even closer to the orange-reddish-haired mouse who bumped into a broad-shouldered demonic entity behind him. “And you’re coming with me.” “Don’t make haste, child of darkness!” A smooth but threatening voice rang across the school grounds. Hespera and Landon were already baffled enough by seeing Hecate and the demons because they didn’t have the Sight. A tall angel was located parallel to Hecate and Karma who was locked in a ring of demons. The violent wind tore feathers from the angel’s wings. Another mouse with feathered wings appeared next to the school building. “H-holy Michael?!” Harahel called out with slight uncertainity. The archangel nodded. “P-please leave, I’ll take care of her!” At this, the blond angel shook his head. “Go back. I will show Lucifer what happens when his friends “trespass”, even if the lamb is kin.” The archangel was persistent. Landon stared at Hespera with confusion as she glanced at Harahel with astonishment. “Do you know him?” “The brunet angel? Yeah. I met him in the library after opening that book I told you about.” At the sound of their voices, Hecate turned her head abruptly in their direction and a smaller demon leaped toward the siblings. Hespera shrieked, however the demon mouse landed face-first into a wall of shimmering runes. It sizzled and bubbled into black liquid. “Lambs.” Michael looked at the siblings. His face was still covered with the veil flaring behind him, but they felt the archangel’s gaze. “I will transport you back to the dorm. Do not speak of this to anyone but the witnesses.” Sweeping with his sleeve, the white-furred mice ended up in their respective dorms. Michael turned to Hecate. “Did Lucifer send you?” The demon mouse grinned. “He didn’t exactly send me, but kind of.” She shrugged. “Are you going to fight me now?” “I’m afraid I cannot pick a different option.” Said the archangel. Raising his paws to the sky and gazing through his blond locks at the crescent moon, a large golden bow in the shape of a crescent moon appeared in his paws. It was carved with swirls, holy symbols and stars. A quiver full of glittering arrows with soft feathers materialized on a belt around Michael’s hips. He aimed several arrows at once. The blades shone with an ethereal light. The minor demons squinted and then screeched as the arrows got stuck in their necks. Karma stumbled backwards, now passing the wind wall. “DAAAAMN YOOOUUUU!!!” Hecate shouted as she rushed at Michael with her scythe high in the sky. The blade glimmered in the pale moonlight as it crashed against the angel’s bow. The recoil pushed both Otherworlders back. Michael aimed three arrows at Hecate. The queen brought up her scythe to be used as a shield. The celestial bow’s string shuddered as arrows were sent away and knocked Hecate’s scythe out of her hands. The female mouse growled. “Rise Mortuorum!" she screamed over the wind and grinned. Several large spectral skulls surrounded Hecate now. Michael frowned lightly and took out another three arrows from the quiver. Firing them at the skulls, he missed a couple. When the arrows did collide the skulls popped, like glass. In all haste, the angel began muttering a prayer, a sacred chant. Hecate squinted. “SHUT YOUR GOD-FORSAKEN MOUTH!” Michael dodged Hecate’s skulls as she lunged in his direction, but the silks he wore were torn at the bottom. The chant was nearing it’s finale, a grand magic circle appeared above Hecate. She growled. “Return!” the archangel shouted. A blinding light enveloped Hecate, who growled. Her scythe and leftover minions dissipated. The wind died down. Michael landed next to Karma, who was sitting on the grass, baffled. “Are you fine, lamb?” “Yeah… a little shaken maybe.” Karma replied and stood up. “What do you mean, kin?” he suddenly asked. Michael scoffed. “I’m out of the church but… I still won’t talk about the children of darkness. Ask Harahel or Raziel or something.” *** “So, got your ass kicked by divine judgement?” Lucifer grinned. “Shut up!” “I told you, Hecate.” He paused. “We can’t do that yet.” |

i think we all saw this coming. a lot of dialogue here, blech. gobsmacked > amazed Chapter 6 : Lord of the Flies “Ohh, Luluuu… you really messed up this timeeeee~” the younger-looking demon mouse chimed, hanging above Lucifer’s head. “You can barely keep track of that boy!” The fallen Seraphim growled. “Shut your mouth, Beelzebub.” “Nope.” The white-furred demon laughed and spun in the air. His insect wings buzzed. Beelzebub tipped his top hat. “Why’d you pick him anyway?” Lucifer sighed. “He’s got a darker aura than usual. Sure, baptized an all, but it seems like it didn’t wash away our traces.” The demon paused. “He also likes pranks.” Beelzebub laughed loudly. “I should’ve known you’d say that!” the white-furred mouse giggled. A smirk played on Lucifer’s face, too. Beelzebub leaned closer to the scarlet orb stationed on a pedestal, watching Karma. “By the way, how’s Hecate doing?” “Are you worried?” “Well, she was hit by that archangel Michael. Did the ceremony go fine?” “Yeah. Lilith didn’t fuck up this time.” Beelzebub nodded approvingly, still staring into the orb. Lucifer sighed again. “You’re awfully sighy today. Something wrong, Lulu?” the demon prince questioned and put his arm around Lucifer. It had to be something, since Lucifer wasn’t even reacted to being called Lulu. “Does tired count?” “Nope.” “Sad?” “I doubt you’d be sad.” “Pissed?” “Is that it?” Beelzebub finally asked. After a few seconds, Lucifer nodded. “Ohooo. And why is that?” “Michael, mostly.” The black-haired mouse paused. “Thinking he can save that boy from Hell’s jaws.” Beelzebub grimaced. “He’s just as arrogant as you.” “That doesn’t help.” The horned demon nearly snapped there. The prince shrugged and unhitched himself from Lucifer’s side. “Well, I’ll be going now. Take care!~” he said and disappeared in a swarm of buzzing insects. Most demons hated Beelzebub and his swarms but Lucifer learned to not mind them. *** The class was seated in the music classroom. Hespera was one of the violinists and Landon was at the other side of the room by the grand piano. Both siblings glanced at the… perhaps somewhat extravagant music teacher the school had. Mr. Rockwell, that’s what the students addressed him as, like most teachers. What stood out most about Rockwell would be his fur. It was painted with countless Egyptian symbols like Ankh and the Eye of Horus. He loved purple and red accessories, in the school’s uniform colors. Rockwell was flamboyant in appearance, to say the least. However that didn’t stop the Academics and Clerics from enjoying his lectures. He clapped his paws together. “All right, class! Play what we rehearsed last time, if you will!” And the mice broke out into song, each playing on their own instrument of choice. This was a piano concerto so to speak and Landon was in lead. They were rehearsing for a Christmas concert in the hall which would include the music and choir classes preforming. After a few more rounds, Rockwell decided it was enough. Class was over, anyway. Landon’s sister ran up to him. “Cafeteria?” he nodded. “Let’s go! I think we might want to talk with Yatikasaru about last night.” Landon’s eyes widened. Right, yesterday’s night. Upon entering the bustling cafeteria the siblings’ eyes scanned the area. Shortly after, Hespera spotted Karma among the crowd of mice. “Over there!” She said and jogged over to Karma’s side with her hair bouncing. Landon calmly followed. She waved to get the orange-haired mouse’s attention and succeded. Hespera grabbed Landon and Karma by the arm and led them out of the hall, somewhere into a quiet corner. “So, what’cha think happened last night exactly?” “You looked gobsmacked.” Karma commented, looking at Landon, who grimaced. “Do you believe me now? When I said I saw the Archangel?” the black-haired mouse boy nodded. “Yeah, I believe you. Who were the others though?” Hespera quirked her eyebrow though her facial expression softened up quickly. “The other angel was Harahel, who I met in the library. He’s the angel of wisdom.” “And that lady with the witch hat?” “I thought she said she was Hecate.” Karma cut in. “Hecate’s the queen of Witches.” Landon looked puzzled. “Aaaand, why do you think she was after you?” the black-furred mouse shrugged. “I don’t know what’s her deal, but I remember the Archangel saying I was kin with one of the demons. He also mentioned Lucifer back then.” Now Hespera bore a perplexed expression, too. The three stood in the hallway, eyebrows furrowed. Sun’s rays passed through one of the large stained glass windows, lighting up the floor in yellow, green and orange. “What do you think, guys? Want to go ask the angels some questions? They might know.” Hespera suggested. “But we can’t see them, exactly. Well, the two of us can’t.” Landon replied and looked at his sister with a slightly disapproving look. “Unless… there was a way for us to acquire the Sight.” Karma spoke up again. “Michael told me of a way.” The siblings looked at him. “You can contract with an Otherworld being.” “Contract?” Landon and Hespera asked in unison. Karma nodded. “There’s a ritual for that. One for demons and one for angels. If you contract with one of them you will get the Sight, among other things.” Now the siblings looked intrigued. “Shall we go ask Harahel about it?” Hespera asked again. “Sure.” Karma replied. The three of them set off toward the library. Beelzebub sat at the throne with a yellow clairvoyant orb in his paws. He didn’t really like to leave his castle in Hell, but maybe, just this time, he’d do it. Just to mess with the mortals. He hadn’t done that for nearly a millennia! Besides, now seemed to be worrisome times. A war between angels and demons seems to be brewing. “I might as well instigate it, then~” he chimed. *** Well in the library, Karma, Landon and Hespera conversed quietly with Harahel. He patiently answered all of their questions, sometimes serious, sometimes cheerful. That is, until he trailed off on an answer. “Go away.” The angel suddenly said. Hespera looked perplexed. “Why?” “I said go!” Harahel raised his voice. That’s when the window popped. The glass scattered all over the floor, which startled the librarian and the group no less. In it’s stead there now was a large, dark purple fly. It’s faceted eyes stared blankly at Harahel and the three mortal mice behind him. A giggle chimed throughout the library, and a white-furred mouse appeared on the fly’s back. He had black, ruffled hair and eyes the color of gold. The seemingly younger boy was dressed in a dark purple attire with yellow and pink details of diamonds and stripes. He grinned, baring sharp fangs. “How do you like my familiar, angel?~” Beelzebub said and sneered. Harahel held out his arm in front of Karma and the siblings. His expression showed clearly, he knew who the demon was. The prince’s face went from mocking to surprised. “Right, I didn’t introduce myself properly to the mice behind you!” he cleared his throat. “Beelzebub, prince of Hell! Lord of the Flies.” The mice’s eyes widened. What was such a big fry doing above the surface?! Landon elbowed Karma and spoke quietly. “I think he’s come for you.” At that, Beelzebub tilted his head. “Oh, that’s not entirely right!” he hummed. “I’m just trying to help Lulu~ He seems entirely worn out from just watching over that redhead back there.” He poined at Karma with his slender, white paws. Beelzebub lunged forward with the transparent insect wings buzzing. Harahel was about to slide in front of the demon, but missed. The demon prince turned into a swarm of flies for a split second and now had his arm around Karma, who looked utterly horrified. “Don’t worry, angel~” he chimed. “I won’t be killing anyone. Not this time. Though,” he paused. Harahel looked annoyed by the suspense. “I might have to do something about those two over there…” Beelzebub brought his golden eyes to Hespera and Landon. In the exact same moment, Harahel chanted something. A magic circle was summoned and emitted shimmering rays that illuminated the dust particles flying around the room. A ray of light, tinted an acid green shot from it. Beelzebub dodged, with Karma still in his arms. Despite him being taller and most likely heavier than the small demon, Beelzebub had no problems holding Karma bridal style and floating in the air at the same time. The prince rushed over to his fly familiar. “I think it’s about time I returned! Lulu will be soooo happy~” Landon looked like he was about to rush after them both, but stood frozen in place. A gaping portal opened under the unnaturally huge fly, through which Karma and the demon prince disappeared. After moments of silence, Harahel winced. “I’m sorry. I— I wasn’t ready for… Beelzebub, out of all demons.” |

i am proceeding at an alarming rate this story is about to gain fire 5 chapters on one page what Chapter 7 : Hell Karma awoke with a pounding headache. He was in a large, neat room furnished with carved Victorian pieces of furniture dyed in red and gold. The bed was queen-size with red, heavy velvet curtains. They were bound to the bed pillars with golden rope. The redhead mouse noticed his jacket, vest and neck ribbon were gone. The bed sheets were soft and the pillows were clothed in a jacket of blood-red colored satin. He had zero clue where he was. Just then, the door creaked open. Beelzebub appeared in the opening, half-smirking half-smiling. “I see you’re awake! That’s good news. Lulu was afraid the portal might’ve taken a big toll on you.” Karma shook his head as if it would collect his thoughts. “Where… is this?” he asked. Beelzebub looked surprised, but then grinned again and ran up to the bed. “Where? The best place, of course! Hell!” It suddenly struck Karma. Hell. That’s where he was. But, he felt awfully alive. “Oh, don’t worry. You’re not dead.” The demon snickered. “You don’t have to be dead to be here. Get up, get dressed.” “W…why, though?” “We’re going to Lulu, duh! Now get going. I’ll be waiting down the hallway.” And with those words, the demon prince left. Karma swung his legs over the bed’s edge and landed right into his shoes. Convenient. He put on Sanctuary’s uniform vest and coat that were both black with purple and red details accompanied by black lace. Spotting a mirror on the wall, Karma stepped over to it to puff up his hair with his paws. His eyepatch was gone. Not minding it as he was literally in the demons’ world, he ventured outside. The corridor had a tall ceiling, a long, red carpet stretched parallel to the walls. It was lined with doors and small shelves with flower vases. The black-furred mouse went down the hallway, scouting for the small demon. At the end, there was a wooden door. Pushing down the golden handle, Karma was met by a large hall. There, on a broken pillow, sat Beelzebub. But he wasn’t alone. Alongside him was a tall, black-furred female mouse demon. She had curling black hair that reached the shoulder blades and bat wings of a similar color. Her eye contrasted like rubies against darksteel. The other figure next to Beelzebub was a mouse that looked the same age as the prince. Though, this guy had a curly hair flop over one of his eyes and his fur was grey with black foreign markings. Beelzebub waved. “Yo! Now that you’re here I’ll introduce the rest.” He gestured to the left. “Lilith!” And then to the right. “Belial!” Lilith scoffed and Belial smiled, tilting his head, causing his snow white hair to bounce. With that, the three demons left Beelzebub’s palace, surrounding Karma. The road to Lucifer’s mansion was narrow and wavering. Beelzebub offered to carry Karma across, but the black-furred mouse refused. All in all he seemed to be walking along the slippery rock path just fine. Lilith and Belial threw occasional glances at him, making sure he didn’t slip. The female demon didn’t look especially enthusiastic. She scooted closer to Beelzebub and lowered her voice to a hiss. “Why do we have to follow?” at that comment, Beelzebub seemed to recall something. “Right! There’s something me and Lulu would like to discuss with you two. Y’know, opinions and all.” Lilith scrunched up her mouth, but shrugged and moved away. Belial didn’t seem to care. Arriving at the large, iron gates of the mansion, Beelzebub knocked and awaited an answer. The door swung open. Lucifer stood there, looking a bit less tired than last time. He looked straight past Belial and Lilith. “Hey. Karma.” “Yeah…?” “Remember how the archangel said you were demon kin?” Karma nodded. “I’m that demon.” This startled Karma to an extent. “So… why am I here?” the redhead mouse asked. Lucifer led them all inside after deciding it was enough of standing outside. “Stop talking to angels, kid. They’re not the ones to believe.” “But why?” Karma just had more questions. There was a concern in Lucifer’s voice. “They’ll turn you into a mindless pawn.” *** “Pawn?” Karma queried and the demons nodded in unison. They were now seated in a large living room with a lit fireplace. It smelled of burning wood. “Yeah. Like priests, for example.” Lucifer paused. “Contracting with an angel isn’t the best idea either. Sure, they might offer you protection and such a customary, but they’re also going to fill your head with their preachings.” “How do you know?” the redhead quirked his eyebrows and shifted his paws. Beelzebub cut in. “Lulu was a former Seraphim. One of those angels.” The horned demon cast a sharp glare at Beelzebub, even if you couldn’t see it. He nodded, though. “I had my head full of their shit.” “But why’d you leave?” asked the mortal mouse. “I didn’t choose to, but I’m damn glad I did. I got cast out for pride and arrogance.” Belial snickered and spoke quietly. “Just a matter of time before that archangel ends up like you.” Karma looked at the white-haired demon. “You mean Archangel Michael?” Belial nodded. “Exactly.” Beelzebub stood up and chimed with his usual cheerful voice. “Well, we all wanted to talk about something, so we’ll leave you here, okay?” he asked and looked at Karma questioningly. “Yeah, sure. Do whatever.” After a moment, the four demons exited. Karma was left alone in the room with the fireplace’s crackling as background noise. He stood up from the red velvet chair and stepped over to a bookshelf. It was littered with a bunch of books, some in English, some in Latin. The redhead was surprised as Lucifer didn’t come off as a reader type to him. Karma continued along the wall, now looking at paintings hung up in the room. Most depicted the scenery of Hell, sometimes red mountains, sometimes flaring fire. Almost like those old paintings from the medieval churches. *** Lucifer, Lilith, Beelzebub and Belial stood behind a round stone table. On it was engraved an upside-down pentagram with a goat skull. Satan’s mark. They were all speaking quietly. The Antichrist said something that the others didn’t quite expect from the silent demon. “I’ll tear them apart.” |

ggAH HERES ANOTHER ONE Chapter 8 : Holy Order of the Silver Cross Landon and Hespera sat in one of the small lounges that the school housed. Students could go there between recess to get some tea and rest. This one was empty, they needed that. The duo sat, conversing about the information they acquired from the brown-haired angel. “I wonder where Karma is now…” Hespera made a sudden remark, looking through the window. “Didn’t Harahel say he was taken through the gate to Hell?” her brother replied, crossing his legs. “Mmm… that’s true… The question is, how do we get him back?” “We don’t.” a new voice chimed. The siblings turned their heads to face a red-haired mouse. “He’ll come to us.” Hespera’s eyebrows shot up. “Valerie?!” the redhead nodded and walked over to Landon and her friend, sitting down next to the raven-haired mouse girl. “Did you know about this all along?” “An envoy told me… or rather, God’s messenger. Angel Gabriel.” The siblings gaped. “What?!” Valerie placed her books neatly on the table and crossed her paws on her lap. “You’ve been attacked by the demons Hecate and Beelzebub. Archangel Michael helped you the first time, but Harahel failed. Didn’t he?” Hespera nodded. “Yes…?” “And then Karma Yatikasaru was taken to Hell by Beelzebub?” Hespera nodded again. “And what do you do next?” a moment of silence passed. “…We… we don’t know.” Valerie sighed and brushed her fringe out of her face. “Belial, the Antichrist, recently declared war on Heaven.” She said. Her friend and Landon stared at the redhead blankly. “You’ll have to contract with an Otherworld being if you want to survive.” “Does… does anyone else know about this?” Landon stammered. “Lance does. Mr. Rockwell too.” Landon exhaled. “Okay, good.” Valerie removed the few top books, revealing a black one. It had a cross sewn onto it with silver thread and the cover was decorated with garnet gemstones. The title, which was in Latin, said: Silver Cross. “This book is my order’s book. It’s a couple of guidelines on how to deal with demons and pick an Otherworlder to contract, if you ever get around to do so. Do you two need help?” Landon let out an exasperated sigh. “Yeah. I think we do.” *** They had about two hours left until curfew. Valerie had walked the siblings though all the steps of angelic summoning and contracting procedures. How to speak, act, pick who’s best for you. Hespera seemed to have already decided, but she didn’t say. Valerie had also picked but both girls kept silent with a smile on their face. Landon on the other side, hadn’t really figured out yet. He wasn’t even entirely sure if he wanted to. “So, Landon, who are you going to pick?” his sister queried. Landon shrugged. “I don’t know. She mentioned so many but, only 6 are within school grounds…” “You don’t have to limit yourself to that!” Valerie said as she stood up. “There are a couple in the town churches, too.” The dark-haired mouse boy hung his head. “…I’ll try to think on it.” Valerie begun walking toward the door and the siblings followed her. They stepped through the hallways only illuminated by golden chandeliers with countless candles. It was dark outside and the mice’s reflections showed up in the glass panels. Stained glass was colored with a warm glow from the candles’ fire. It was cold outside. Hespera and Valerie ran left, toward the girls’ dorm. Landon calmly strolled along the roads paved with an intricate pattern. A fountain was located in the middle of the crossroads with the image of a cherub sculpted on top. The moon’s white saucer was high up in the sky already. The lights in the school’s building were still it and so were many in the dorm rooms. Landon remembered something Harahel said earlier that day. ”Don’t walk outside too long when it’s dark. Demons roam around quite often then.” His tail twitched. Landon sped up his pace. *** Next morning was a Saturday. Everybody got up early to go to church and start off with an another hymn. Karma was still absent. Valerie grabbed Hespera and Landon by their paws, leading them around the church building. The siblings looked puzzled. The redhead stuck her paw inside her shirt and pulled out a silver crucifix embedded with garnet, just like the one on the book. She put her paw over her lips. “Shhh! Not a word, okay?” Sticking the crucifix to a cross-shaped dent in the wall, a rock door opened slowly. “Come on!” Valerie hissed and tapped down the stairs. Landon and Hespera followed shortly after with the door closing behind them. Torches lit the long hallway and the ceiling was low. “Uh, Valerie… Might I ask where we’re going?” Hespera asked quizzically. “My order. They have a meeting right now and you can know more about the situation.” After that comment, they came to an another door. It was iron, carved with the same crucifix image. Valerie pulled it open with a small groan. The trio ended up inside a round room with a round table. Several mice were already there, all wearing a silver crucifix like Valerie’s. Some of them were dressed in a white kurta with a red cross. They turned to look at Hespera and Landon. Valerie raised her paw in a greeting. “Those are the two I told you all about.” She turned to look at the siblings and smiled. “Don’t worry. They’re friendly.” The rest of the mice smiled. Valerie asked a tall, broad-shouldered one to bring over a pair of chairs to which the male mouse obliged. He came back in with a pair of chairs made out of brown wood, studded with red velvet. Landon and Hespera thanked him and sat down quietly on Valerie’s both sides. The room was slowly filled and only one chair was empty. Everybody was silent. Suddenly though, the door north of the table opened. Another mouse stepped in dressed in white and red, accented with silver armor. They were so heavily dressed it was hard to tell the gender, and a white hood was covering the mouse’s face. After the metal-studded boots clanked against the floor a couple of times, the mouse sat down, pulling off the hood. Valerie smiled, more happily than usual. The mouse revealed themselves to be female with snow white fur and red hair akin to Valerie’s. “Welcome to the weekly Holy Order of the Silver Cross meeting. You two, are welcome as well.” She cast a soft glance at Landon and Hespera. The siblings relaxed from being so tensed up. “Sister Valerie,” the mouse spoke up. “Did you tell them?” Valerie nodded. “Good.” The female mouse turned to the man who Valerie had previously asked to get some chairs. “Brother Abel, what about the situation?” “Nothing’s changed pronouncedly, sister Esther.” So, Esther was the female mouse’s name. She turned to the siblings again. “Have you two picked an angel? We will help you with the contracting ceremony.” Landon shook his head, but Hespera nodded. Esther smiled. “Well, it’s best to proceed then. Sister Valerie, come with me. They follow too.” Valerie stood up and nodded, then motioned for Hespera and Landon to follow. “Brother Abel, I leave the rest to you.” The mouse who was addressed as Abel nodded. Esther, Valerie, Landon and Hespera stepped through the north door and were now walking up a stone staircase. Esther held a candelabra in her paws clothed in white gloves that were set with silvery metal plates. “What are your names?” she asked gently. “Landon Chamber.” “Hespera Chamber.” The tall female nodded. Valerie turned around to the siblings and lowered her voice. “Sister Esther’s the leader of our order!” she said and smiled. Hespera’s eyebrows shot up again. “For real?” Valerie nodded. Esther pushed open a door that Valerie would’ve had a lot of struggle with. A large room of white marble was revealed. A rectangular table of the same material stood in the middle. “We will call out two angels consecutively. Are you ready?” she looked at the girls. They nodded. “Oh, I still don’t know who Hespera picked. May I ask?” the black-haired mouse nodded and walked over to Esther, who leaned in to listen. “I see.” She paused. “Then let the ceremony commence!” Dernière modification le 1448475240000 |

2 CONSE CUTIVE CHAP TER S ??? I N ONE DAY +?? Chapter 9 : Proposal Esther laid out a long parchment over the marble table. She let Valerie go first to let Hespera and Landon see how the entire thing proceeds. Valerie took the feather quill and filled in every blank space of the poem with the designated angel’s name. Barachiel. The redhead began reading as Esther stood back. Slowly, a magic circle drew itself in the air. It was glowing with golden light an inscribed with various Latin incantations. After Valerie was finished almost chanting the Latin poem, a glowing figure materialized from the magic circle. A tall mouse with large wings draped in white silk. An angel. The light soon faded, revealing a white-furred, platinum blond-haired mouse with striking yellow eyes. He grinned at Valerie. “So, you summoned me?” she nodded. “Contract?” she nodded again. “Then say what you must. I think there’s someone waiting.” He sneered and looked at Hespera. “Angel of good fortune and lightning, Barachiel! I command thee! Watch over this feeble soul!” The angel shrugged and swooped down to Valerie. “Can’t say no now~” he chimed and put his arm around Valerie. The light faded and the magic circle disappeared. The parchment on which Barachiel’s poem was written got struck by a lightning bolt and was turned to ashes. Esther turned to look at Hespera and smiled. “Wasn’t that hard, was it? Come.” Hespera stepped up to the table when Esther rolled up a new parchment. It was slightly longer than Barachiel’s, but the black-haired girl took the feather quill and began writing the angel’s name in cursive. Harahel. Landon watched as his sister began reading the poem. A similar magic circle was slowly appearing in the air, but it was glowing green. After uttering the last word the light gathered in the marble room again, and Harahel appeared. He pushed his glasses further up on his snout with his paw. “I didn’t think it’d come to this. Well, go ahead.” He said and looked at Hespera, who was smiling faintly. “Angel of wisdom and knowledge, Harahel! I command thee, watch over this feeble soul!” “Will you finish the book?” he said. “Definitely!” Hespera replied and smiled. With fading light Harahel lowered himself onto the ground next to the black-haired girl. Landon stared, almost somewhat blankly. He then snapped out of it when the light faded. “Congrats, sis.” He said. Hespera smiled. *** The room was dimly lit. There were black and blue satin drapes everywhere with shifting ropes of silver and gold. A silhouette sat on the bed. Black, cryptic markings graced his back. “Oi, Drago.” The demon said. “Make sure he’s alone. Secure the location. Don’t take more than five with you.” He paused. “I don’t want any filthy angels in my way.” The mouse with dark-grey fur, blue horns and wings in a similar color scheme growing from his arms like fins nodded and turned around in the door opening. “Also. Don’t touch a hair on his head.” The male mouse in the door opening froze for a moment, then walked away with the black leather coat flaring around his legs. The white-haired demon reached for a slightly crumpled white, cotton dress shirt with ruffles that hung on the chair. “Time to pay a visit to the surface, then.” Belial said and grinned. “Well, almost.” It was about 5:30 PM on the clock and the lessons had ended. Landon was tapping some piano keys absently. He had went back to the music classroom to rehearse some of the songs again. He flipped through the pages of sheet music and eventually found the song he was going to play first. Smooth playing resounded through the empty classroom. He repeated some parts, played some more songs. It was pitch black outside. “God, I hate winter.” The raven-haired mouse muttered. An ominous presence suddenly appeared in the classroom. The door swung closed by itself and the lock clicked. Landon frantically looked around, there was no light. He couldn’t see. A quiet chuckle resounded through the room. A blue light appeared in the center of the classroom and Landon looked up from behind the grand piano. It was a small blue flame that illuminated to boy’s surroundings just enough. His tail shot up in shock as he heard a voice right next to his ear. “Hello.” Landon moved his eyes to the right. “Do you know who I am?” the mouse shook his head. A pair of purple-pinkish eyes were staring at Landon with almost a sultry look to them. “Belial. The Antichrist, if you please.” “H…h-have you c-come-“ Landon was cut off before he could finish. He was visibly nervous. “Not to take you away, no. Rather to talk.” The demon said and smiled, revealing fangs. The flame gave his hair and horns a blue glow. “Well… go ahead.” Landon replied quietly. “Your dear sister just contracted with an angel, hm?~” the black-haired mouse nodded shakily. Belial was quiet for a couple of seconds. “You don’t like them, do you? The angels, I mean. You never seemed like you believe in them much, am I right?” Landon sat upright. He almost got jumpscared by Belial’s appearance but now he was just curious. “So… why don’t you join us?” “…Us?” Landon repeated almost in a whisper. “Us. Me, Lucifer, Beelzebub, Hecate… your friend, Karma.” Belial’s eyelids dropped halfway. “What do you think? Sounds good?” “Does that mean that Karma…?” “Oh, no not yet. Our dear former Seraphim’s not too hasty with this.” Belial turned his head sharply and looked through the window. “Too bad for him, because I am quite hasty. Make your decision, mortal.” Belial turned his head to Landon again. “Will you join us, me, or will you go back to your mortal friends who have been contaminated by the angels’ presence?” Landon was visibly baffled. “Make it now. I don’t have all the time in the world.” The blue-eyed mouse paused. “Might I… let fate decide?” “How are you going to do that?” Belial sneered with annoyance. Landon looked at the grand piano. “If I hit a white key, I will not agree. If I hit a black key, I’ll follow you. I’ll close my eyes, of course.” “Fine. Do it.” Landon turned away, closed his eyes and smacked his paw on the piano keyboard. He hit the G minor key. Belial grinned. “It’s black.” Landon opened his eyes to check and the demon appeared to be correct. The mouse behind the piano sighed. “Well… guess I have to.” “You sound mournful.” The Antichrist sneered and lifted up Landon’s face by his chin. “You will not regret it.” A hole of nothingness opened up below the duo and Belial put his arm around Landon, slowly descending. “One last question…” The blue-eyed mouse spoke quietly. Belial’s ears perked up. “Yes?” “I thought only certain mice can contract a half-bound Otherworlder?” The white-haired demon grinned. “Propaganda. We pick.” |
