the unregulated chat is the main downfall of this game, and having a group focused on improving this whole situation seems like a very helpful way of at least starting in on the problem!

my personal experience of /chat has repeatedly been seeing the first few lines of horrific topic and immediately exiting. I agree 100% that it could use some cleaning so this is something that I definitely /support !!

I have seen a fair share of conversations that should not be happening on this game, I do report people when needed, but more action should be taken to address this problem

I agree Jjrules. I always log in and go to the /chat that automatically opens and see horrific language and inappropriate comments even for a 13+ game. I /support all the way.

Grimmaro a dit :

Also, by having these moderators kept hidden, maybe it would allow players who are under 18 that are both active and friendly to have a shot at having a role in their community. Of course, they wouldn't have full access to the regular moderation team's tools, but only just enough to be able to read a report and address it. By dropping the age restriction, this would widen the span on much needed active players who aren't always as busy as the regular moderation team.

They would have to be over 18 to be effective. You pretty much have to be over 18 to be able to use these sort of moderation commands ingame, essentially they wouldn't be able to address an issue head-on.

Grimmaro a dit :
  • Another issue would be how much power is given to the team. Since they are Chat Moderators, do they just focus on the chat, or do they help moderate other areas too? Just moderating the chat could prove to be boring over time, especially for more active players who do not have any other responsibilities besides moderating the chat. I feel like they would need more things to do such as:

    • Moderating the public chat.
    • Help public moderators patrol the café by keeping inappropriate topics and vulgar language in check.
    • If all public moderators/Arbs are busy, Chat Moderators could look into other report that isn't chat related (except hack unless it is obvious) and relay it back to the team.

If they had more power than just moderating chat it'd make more sense to just promote them within the game moderation team / ie arbs/mods. There's no point in having someone able and willing to be a mod be serving in a role which keeps them from being able to help w/ all moderation.

Like Anythin said, there's no point in creating subgroups and the lack of moderation is due to lack of manpower. I think people are joined into region specific chats upon login if there are less than x people already in the chat, it may help if mods were automatically put in their specific regional chat regardless of amount of players already in it. This way they could already have the chatlog running and reports could be dealt with asap. I think the best way for chat to be monitored is for people to /report what happens in it and use /ignore or leave the chats until the report is dealt with.
