1 - When you export a map is it automatically added to the rotation? Is that what P0 maps are?

2 - What does the P in each category stand for? Permanant?

1) Yes, after you've validated your map, you can export it into the server and it will be displayed as a P0 map (maps with the dice logo). However if you export it as a tribehouse, it will not be exported into the map rotation.
2) I'm not 100% positive with this one, but yeah I think Permanent or what most people call it, Perm.

Ah thanks. I have a few more:
More Questions

1 - So P0 will appear in what room exactly? How do you know which kinds of rooms your submitted map will appear in?

2 - What is P1? I read it and it said I think protected, but it's all subjective for the person reviewing the map?

3 - When and how can maps be deleted? Is it ever automatic?

4 - So having your map "permed" means that it is accepted and put into the rotation?

5 - And lastly, what do people mean "higher" perms? I thought there was one perm for each map category.

1 - So P0 will appear in what room exactly? How do you know which kinds of rooms your submitted map will appear in?

P0 maps appear in normal rooms. I made a list for each game mode:
  • Normal: P0, P1, P4, P5, P6, P7, P8, P9, vanilla
  • Vanilla: Only vanilla
  • Survivor: P10, P11, P24
  • Racing: P17 (also P42 for some tests)
  • Music: P19
  • Bootcamp: P3, P13
  • Defilante: P18
  • Modules: P41, P22

Subwooferdub a dit :
2 - What is P1? I read it and it said I think protected, but it's all subjective for the person reviewing the map?

This thread explains each type of map: Map Category Definitions and Submission Rules
P1 maps a dit :
  • Remember it is a very light perm and is subjective to the person reviewing it.

Subwooferdub a dit :
3 - When and how can maps be deleted? Is it ever automatic?

Maps with a rating below 50% are deleted automatically. Also you can report any rule-breaking map, so a mapcrew can delete it too.
Subwooferdub a dit :
4 - So having your map "permed" means that it is accepted and put into the rotation?

It depends on the game mode. For example, if you have a P1 map, it can be played in the normal rooms.
Subwooferdub a dit :
5 - And lastly, what do people mean "higher" perms? I thought there was one perm for each map category.

Higher perms are P3+ maps (P3, P4, P5, P6, P7, P8, P9, P10, P11, P13, P17, P18, P19 and P24). There can be more than one perm for each map category like bootcamp, which plays both P3 and P13.

2. What's the point of getting your map permed if it can be played in normal mode after you export them anyways?

Question 1) If you export it as a tribehouse (P22), it will not be thrown into rotation. Most people who want their survivor map, or any higher perm map (P3+) they submit it on the forums to be reviewed by a mapcrew member to have a chance to be put into rotation. Here is the map submission thread

Question 2) Honestly, everybody has their reasons, one thing however is for every map you get permed, the price of making a map reduces. P0 can be deleted if they have a low vote but if you get your map permed by submitting them on the forums, you have a chance for it to be permanent and safe from deletion (some old maps are often deleted as well). Some people might want to just show off their maps and have bragging rights that their maps were permed. And others might just enjoy the challenge. All depends the person

There are over 6 million maps exported in Transformice, and a majority of these are just P0 (regularly exported maps). In comparison, there are only a few thousand higher perm maps in total, usually a couple of hundred per category. Having a higher permed map will let it play in regular room rotation a LOT more frequently than a regularly exported one.

Players can't vote on perm maps, therefore they cannot be removed through negative votes.

Correct.

It is also the case for P8, since most of these are too hard for a single shaman. You would better export them as P22.

Thanks. I needed a good understanding on all of this so I can start submitting maps.

So let's see if I have this down:

Steps

So if you want to create a normal map, you create it in the editor (following the requirements/criteria), and then export it and copy the @ code.
Go to the proper thread and submit it, and eventually, a map crew member will come and evaluate a batch of submissions and give the results to everyone?

Also, so P0 is just there in the rotation, and it can be downvoted and deleted, and P1 is protected against deletion?

Hey everyone. I stopped playing for a while and I just came back. Anyway, I was trying to make some maps when I noticed that apparently Rype's glitch doesn't work anymore. Is there a new way to do it, or are there any alternatives?

While Rype's glitch was fixed, there was a feature added to maps which let you do a lot more, and in a much more robust way - joints. Impuredeath has a video explaining the basics here, and there's a guide here too.
