Just out of curiosity, do members of the fashion squad create new outfits based on items that already exist? Or can new items be created? Sometimes I like an individual item I see on a new outfit, but can't find it anywhere in the shop, and I can't help wondering if it's an event item or an item that's just been invented.

We use items that already exist. The reason you see "new" items is most likely because its a collectors item - an item that was in store for a limited time only and then discontinued. These collector items do come back to the store via sales or when the Fashion Squad creates an outfit with it. Hope this answers your question :)
