If you collect the three cheeses, you will have +3 cheeses in store, there're already few dodue maps in game (one in P4), and I can assure you that when you do grab several cheeses on it you have several cheeses added in store. Dernière modification le 1590672420000 |

I am an ex-mapcrew member who has reviewed almost every contest since 2016. I know firsthand that map judgments will be at least a little biased—it's human nature. That's why it's important to have map discussions with multiple voices, which is the standard procedure for map perms. Because contests receive well over 100+ submissions, shortlists do not follow standard procedure. Here's how it works: About 2-3 people go over all submissions and label the "good" maps. Then other people look at the "good" maps and can add or remove from the shortlist. Often, the final person to review makes the final decision to shortlist or not shortlist. The process is efficient (that's how we make the shortlist in only 1-3 weeks), but it's more prone to bias. In the last vanilla contest, map @157 was not in the original shortlist, but it ended up winning and getting permed. Other times, maps in the original shortlist get removed by someone who didn't like it as much as the first reviewers. Miroslavchik summed it up nicely: a dit : The bottom line is that shortlisting is an uncertain process with an arbitrary cutoff. Mapcrew said they spent "more time this year" to check maps, but it's still inevitable that good maps will be left out, and poor maps will be left in. Most of the time, it's something people accept and move on with. But for this contest, players filled over 5 pages of criticism about the shortlist, many of which come from experienced mapmakers and ex-mapcrew. The sheer number of concerns suggest that the complaints are more than just rejected mapmakers throwing a fit, but rather reflective of a flawed shortlist (at the very least, a shortlist that left out many good-potential maps). The backlash isn't the only thing unique to this contest either. For one, mapcrew does not "specialize" in vanilla like they do for perm categories, which means opinions from the "average player" is no less legitimate than opinions from a mapcrew member. Moreover, in normal contests, players have a chance to re-submit their maps in submissions thread to get a perm. In this case, only the shortlisted maps have any chance of getting considered for vanilla. An updated shortlist would add the maps that fare no worse than the current shortlisted maps. For example, in my opinion as a former mapcrew of over a year, @7716768 and @7704563 by Hawis#0901 really isn't worse than some of the shortlisted maps. If anything, it adds a new and simple concept to vanilla that users haven't played before, while some of the shortlisted maps just repeat old concepts. The contest maps deserve a re-check, especially because this may be one of the last opportunities to get a vanilla perm. What harm does it do for the admins to spend a few more minutes looking at a few more maps? Players already on the shortlist won't be affected, and players rejected for seemingly arbitrary reasons get a fair chance of getting their map considered. Mapcrew's foremost duty is to the Transformice community. To make remediations in response to community feedback is part of good staff duty, and strengthens the credibility of the team. How many times do I create a new concept and get p1 in the normal room? How many maps are single copies of other players and earn px? If you were a mapcrew, why didn't you always have that thought? The desire to win that is causing these criticisms. |

Obsyt a dit : I participated of this contest just for fun, I never expected my map to become vanilla because I knew it wasn't good enough for the category. Despite of that, I completly agree and support the critics from the last messages, from the noobest to the most experienced mapmaker. I believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to have their maps considered to vanilla, Melibelulle should be the only one judging whether the map has any chance, not the mapcrew that - as mentioned above - are not "specialized" in such category. Not to mention the possibility of having a biased judgement that might occur, explained above by the experienced, old ex-mapcrew. Winning here is not the point for most of us, but having a chance is. Why do those maps have it and our maps don't? How strong should the paper of Mapcrew in this contest be in comparison to the Administrators' paper? It wouldn't hurt anyone and certainly would make us feel less abandoned, in my opinion. Vanilla contests shouldn't be treated as ordinary reviews, this is unique and probably one of the last contests we'll ever see on forums. |
