↑ here's a quick redline ![]() (it's a bit bad tho, I would suggest looking at references for the body) then idk how to explain my critique but it's mostly the gap between realism and cartoonish style it's hard to get something to look realistic when it's heavily influenced by a cartoonish style, something cartoony can look realistic if the coloring is really good and the lightnings/shadings are well made it's mostly the anatomy and the head that were kinda off ( the head is too big and badly placed on the neck) |

pls help for the past 2 weeks ive been hating this drawing bc something seems REALLY off i need help |

Katssuumy a dit : the following critique is gonna be based on my assumption that you're trying to achieve an anime style drawing so sorry if you're leaning towards a more cartoonish style, since "basic drawing rules" dont apply with cartoons. first of all the colours are S T U N N I N G. keep that the way it is because the colours just match really well and i lovE THEM AA-- |

Katssuumy a dit : ![]() i hope this redline doesnt look confusing there arent many things wrong with that drawing, and i love the effort you put into it im not very knowledgable of human anatomy but i figured that the only thing that probably bugs you out is the shoulders, but it's all a matter of perspective too. they can look the same way you drew them if you drew the character from a different angle body looks flat and shouldn't be too long/wide. it's supposed to look more curvier and thinner the head and the neck together look a bit out of shape so i fixed that for you! there is nothing wrong with the heads in my opinion but i drew them in my own style if you dont mind :-) |

thank you!! i'd like to say that i was experimenting because i dont usually... draw like that? so im not really used to it ALSO THE HAIR THING MY GOD.... i tried to make it look like this. but i failed ![]() see her hair? thats what i was trying to do and failed miserably. afterwards i just decided to give it a random flow and go w it lastly, thats actually hot the cloth was supposed to look since she kinda has like... no boobs? and her kimono seems pretty loose too so and the whole fold deal, i literally just looked at her body and copied EVERY single fold lmao but thanks anyway!!! its very helpful, and i should try to make my drawings look less flat THANKS. that redline goes right in my gallery. i will use it every single time i draw girls from now on since im preeeetty bad when it comes to female anatomy in general i hate drawign shoulders im genuinely thanking you for reminding me how to draw them Dernière modification le 1489248480000 |

It seems as though you've shoved her cervix into her diaphragm. When you were sketching, right, you threw the curve of her waist where you presumed a good space for it would be, but you've accidentally created a mutant that, if the over-saturated robe was not there, you would immediately recognise as a monster right out of Human Centipede. Smartiewolf did a good compensation by pretending you'd wrapped her ribs over a high waisted petticoat and forcing her neck back into position by moving her upper body into a 3/4ths perspective, but even that tactic hasn't given her chest room to breathe (please don't tell me you started her legs under the cross wrap, god, there's only so much you can hide under a kimono) Here's a tip, put that lady's neck back in the centre of her spine and don't try drawing a human again until you google "female drawing proportion" or "female drawing breakdown" into google images. Here's something you probably don't realise, but the best anime artists can absolutely, unequivocally, without hesitation, draw a realistic human. It's just too bad your reference was drawn by a two-bit hack (now that i recognise her), but thats not your fault. Dernière modification le 1489249320000 |

Cloudoflames a dit : hullo! What i'm seeing is only a problem with anatomy and mostly proportions! I'm sorry there's no true key to them other than study study study ^^; I recommend you check out the 8 heads tip! You can also try having it more 3 dimensional and natural by having him have his hand in front of him and with his head down towards it Good luck, the idea's good! Eyes: There are a bazillion ways of drawing them! Look up other artists' styles, imitate them, etc (yes some will say "you can't copy someone's style!" but art is all about incorporating other people who's art inspires us into ours and building from a mix) ![]() if you're going for realistic, i recommend counting by thirds! realistic eyesss ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You can play with eye shapes and what i usually do is cruise pinterest for "makeup based on your eyeshape" as they show a lot of variety. Facial expressions my favourite tutorial is this one It's very full a fun exercise is redrawing japanese emoticons! check out http://kaomoji.ru/en/ another fun one is pulling Draw a certain emotion, then stretch everything vertically. i'm not good at explaining so here's an example https://i.gyazo.com/85c3bb29960e427b61136f463045fda2.png Stretching out and adding more creases exaggerates the emotion! Also the best (imo) to study is anime. You get great examples of facial expressions but mostly for strong emotions (anger, sadness, happiness) so studying IRL is good too Dernière modification le 1489251960000 |

Thank you!!! You have given such a thorough critique and all these methods you have shown me will definitely help!! Im also very grateful that you have provided me with some very useful links. I'm very astounded by that stretching technique as well! The facial expressions turtorial is very full, I can now get easy access to many different facial expressions, thank you!! A while ago I drew these ![]() ![]() Any thoughts? If possible please do a red line Okay well I'm sorry but I didnt know that was some kind of sacred rule, also this drawing was supposed to be one in which I wanted other people's opinion to compare to my last drawing to see if any mistakes were corrected or not, of course it would be around different categories. The copy and pasting thing i could learn something from that because I don't even know how to draw facial expressions in the first place so redrawing the expressions could help me learn the basics and how to even draw it so in the future I'm not still stuck with drawing plain expressions of something that belongs on an emocion.i also want to know how you managed to create facial expressions. Please enlighten me in your technique. Dernière modification le 1489341420000 |

On proper critique forums (they exist), you'd be reported and thrown from the site if, say, you asked for critique after critique without attempting to work on your images or took any advice already given to you. You're not going to learn anything. (And you wont learn anything just copy/pasting that cartoonist's expressions either. Actually, that makes me rather angry to read you saying that,) Dernière modification le 1489322820000 |

Critique for Glowsticksss: I don't really have anything to say about the girl playing the violin, so I'll focus on the violin. Violins are played up high, with the chin resting on the chinrest. The violin is also missing some parts, such as the chin rest and the tailpiece, I've inserted a diagramed picture of one here for reference. Lastly, the violin is huge compared to the girl holding it. If it's meant to be a cello, the proportioning is more accurate but you shouldn't be able to see the very bottom because that should be set on the floor and the girl should be sitting down to play it. If it's a bass it will stay pretty much the same but you still won't be able to see the bottom of the bass even though the girl will stay standing up. Dernière modification le 1489360020000 |

Beatrice9812 a dit : It appears to be a cello or ground bass - not a violin XD. If it's a cello then the cello should not be held up mid air like a guitar. A cello is supposed to be set on the ground and the player should be sitting in a chair, but it could be a double bass which is played standing up. Here's an example of cello vs ground bass being played Cello ![]() Ground Bass ![]() Dernière modification le 1489360260000 |

Will someone be able to critique this? Just general things I should work on when drawing! (Not aiming to be realistic, I also draw with a phone) If I were to point out something wrong with my art myself, I'd say it's the shading. ![]() |

A0xis a dit : i actually never draw with references,,,,, my bad but by now everyone should know why i draw anime style (and even fucking get bashed about that for some reason? doesnt happen that frequently but just so you know im not the only one who does that) yes thats right, im trying to get better at drawing proportions. without help. and just humans in general im not that optimistic myself so i might as well just give up since all my drawings are fucking shit and all i get is minor praise, no real criticism at all until i beg someone for it. im so indecisive and stupid i even refused going to art school just because of how ''much'' confidence i have in my half assed drawing skills (kinda regret that now since i want to improve. but i believe theres no need for that since i only draw out of boredom now) also this, ''you've shoved her cervix into her diaphragm'', how? i literally sketched her whole body before making the clothing. its even upsetting in the end this whole paragraph had nothing to do with the critique you gave me whatsoever Dernière modification le 1489364160000 |

Beatrice9812 a dit : Stephspeach a dit : Thanks, it's a cello, I should've said sorry. Well thanks for the cello instructions. And it looks awkward if I draw a person sitting playing the cello, but I'll try a redraw of it. Dernière modification le 1489365060000 |
