Chapter 3
Rayne walked down a long narrow hall. She passed three rooms before finally entering one. Rayne paused in the doorway, looking at her room. How empty would it look when she left? Shrugging uncomfortable thoughts off Rayne walked in and started packing some clothes, a few books, and some other random objects that would take too long to mention.

Walking out and down the hall once more, Rayne made her way to the kitchen. She started filling two bags with beef jerky, dried fruit, and a special type of bread found only in the distant kingdom of Narthalian.
She then walked over to a little cabinet that held the items she wanted kept cold. Rayne opened it and pulled out three containers full of multi-colored berries. Rayne opened one of the containers and popped a bright green berry in to her mouth.
She smiled “Sweet as ever.” She closed the container and put all three in one of the food bags. Walking out of the kitchen and toward the entrance she’d come through. Climbing up the ladder with her four traveling bags strapped around her waist and on her back.

Rayne looked around the meadow, taking it all in one last time. She took a deep breath and replaced the stump over the opening.
Walking out of the meadow she paused and looked back one more time. “I have a feeling that this is the last time I’ll see this meadow. Oh well.” Turning around, Rayne walked forward each step taking her away from the place where Snow took care of her, where Snow taught her almost everything she knew.

Kuri saw a small clearing up ahead and she glanced up at the sky, it was getting dark. She carefully jumped through the trees over to it. Ami was now riding piggy back and had fallen asleep three times while they traveled. She obviously needed rest so Kuri wanted to find somewhere to camp, besides it would be dark soon anyway.
Kuri jumped out of a tree just over the clearing, landing gently.

Ami jerked awake and looked around. “Huh? W-where, are we camping already?” She asked sleepily, getting off Kuri’s back.
Kuri rolled her eyes “Already? Take a look at the sky Ami, it’s late. Perfect time for camping.” Ami looked up and nodded. She and Kuri started working on setting up the tent and a small campfire. Ami secretly hoped that Kuri might magically become good at cooking tonight. Hopefully, because Ami was tired of eating what Kuri called “Fresh” meat.

Rayne was walking down the same path she’d seen those two go down. She was going to travel around, so why not travel with some buddies? She’d been walking for a while now. Rayne was starting to wonder if she’d gone in the wrong direction when she saw a small flicker of light not too far ahead. Smiling Rayne started slipping closer to the light, gliding through the shadows. “Found ya.”
