Do you by any chance know if Nara is willing to switch the forums software? There's a bunch of well tested and feature-rich engines. This way he won't have to reinvent the wheel.

That and the fact they've already lost two forums due to security holes (phpBB then vBulletin). I doubt they're in the mood again.

The admins are hiring someone to create an HTML version of the forums. They won't switch to any software out there (such as phpBB, Invisionfree, etc) due to security risks.

But the existing engines are mature and therefore well-tested. A new, custom one is much more likely to have all sorts of bugs in it.

Whisky was great, and so he will be missed :_:

The new updates are good too, back to 30 seconds between posting, smaller moderated posts so it looks less unsightly (Though it still does a bit x)), and preventing double posts.

Whisky was a great staff member, he was always so nice. Sad to see him leave :(

Also for the forum updates, I am very happy to see that admins are working on them. Removing avatars on deleted content was a great move, I thought I'd suggest it but looks like I didn't need to :)

But why is the double post protection only 5 minutes long? I am not sure if people need to double post after 5 minutes, maybe it would be better if it were more than an hour or so. I understand that double posts are sometimes needed (fan art), but not after 5 minutes.
30 seconds for spam protection is the best time you could have for these forums, in my opinion.

Of course, I still think those removal should be invisible. Though, since admins want them to be seen, I thought they could look a bit less like normal posts with some 'moderated' text.

In my opinion, something like this would look better, users would realize more quickly that they are looking at removed content and it would look less like normal posts.


Though it's just an idea :P Sorry for my bad photoshop skills.
