okay so how come everyone except me can make pretty art by blending together some crazy colors that would never work but they dooo

Actually, the trick is to use colors that DO work!
I never just go with crazy colors. I set up a color palette that goes well together, then use them in my work and mix then together to create new colors. I will very rarely introduce a new random color to it after that. I'd only pick something that seems to complement the others in some way.
