Barrydarsow a dit :
I am disappointed that once again mods were chosen from high-ranking and well-known tribes instead of choosing one of the many, many qualified applicants from Space Police, Dolly Guarana, or The Fallen Spirits.

Oh I just saw this.
To be honest this CAN and be an issue.

In many player's head seems like this is what's happening right now. I'm aware that it's not completely true.

There is a pattern many players are looking forward to right now, let's be honest. Which involves trying to approach the staff from different directions to became "one of them" (starting from the helpers).
Back in the day the staff was spread in a whole bunch of tribes (my tribe had mods, arbs and mc for example) but right now, most of you guys is in those 2-3 specific tribes. I don't mean to be rude, at all, but if almost everytime an arb is selected in a couple weeks he joins one of those tribes. From the outside this makes totally sense to say that X is a staff tribe and people close to them has some form of priority when apps are open.

No offense.
Also I'm sorry if this post could sound harsh and offensive but in my eyes it's more a food for thought kind of post. In some way i know how things works (formerstafftribe *cough*). But if i was a "normal mice" that hadn't the chance to have a deeper form of interaction with the staff. I think I've been close to be furious like Bronco.

Right now I'm using this account. Adieu :°

Personally I think this update is quite a bad move. I do agree, that this opens up a quite large option of names, but at same time, who want's to write a private message to a guy who's name is for example: e1x5d4gg8r2

I do want and welcome the name changing update, but this isn't good. Also the underscores ( _ ) shouldn't be a thing..

Just my personal opinion >.>

Well, it works to make an account named Methusalah2 and I think this is quite a problem.
But the update itself is fun.

A bit late but congrats to Jacob and Xan on becoming moderators, two well deserving and hard working people!

About the recent nickname update, I quite like it. Of course people are grabbing at the chance to use inappropriate names but I'd say that'll be squashed down pretty quickly (though it's going to be an awful amount of work over the next few days for staff).

No, not quite yet: you can read more about it here.

I think it would've been better if they allowed 1~3 numbers at the start. Rather than just letting people go crazy like they have.

If they're just picking staff members out of the exact same tribes I understand the part about them being well known but it just shows that a801 is too damn lazy and not thorough enough when it comes to pretty much everything. Cannot trust them at all anymore.

When you've come to care about the games like me and people I know (especially with the dying branch games) then it just pretty much becomes more and more confirmed with every change that nobody really has power at all even if atelier 801 is supposedly dedicated to actively listening to its members to guide changes in the games.

I understand if there are people that disagree with me; maybe I just got the short end of the stick, but people exist who experience these games in the same way I have and will agree. I never applied for mod myself, not planning on it, so this isn't a complaint of favoritism in my case. To summarize; I'm happy if the mods are more active in the community and can weed out toxicity, but I'll be unhappy if they turn out to be the same type of mods that I've experienced in the past.

Regarding the numbers update, I think it's a good change. Who cares if its ugly, people ask about my name all the time and it doesn't even have a meaning, its basically a random jumble of letters. It doesn't really matter if there's a random jumble of numbers as long as it isn't spammy.

And the name changes update, there should be some indication of previous ownership without anyone being able to act as someone else's impostor, especially if we're going to pay for name changes. I can't change my name in the confidence that someone won't probably pick it up, never give me back my right to the name and then screw up my reputation. Same with other people.

You have to realize that the people in these tribes get picked because of their experience, knowledge and qualification.
They have to train for awhiiiiiile before going public, which means they've been moderating in the shadows long before they were officially added to the team.
If they do a crap job in their training, they don't become mods. Simple as that.

which means whole "applications" thing was a show, that's what you are saying?:)))

Due to the amount of applicants, it may take us several weeks or months to finish processing them all

yeah sure:))

next time pls just announce new mods and don't give false hope to people outside current mods friendlists

Actually, these new mods came from our last batch of applicants back in November I think it was. The training process is very lengthy. The most recent application batch is still being processed. Keep an eye out for that announcement in the coming weeks.

As for the new mods and their tribe, to quote what I said, the process of training is very lengthy. With that being said it's natural for mod candidates to end up drifting into the same tribe (such as kittens with lasers) due to a genuine interest in the people they work with who happen to be there. Our new mod candidates were chosen for their dedication and experience and has nothing to do with their tribe ^^
