Why do they need to be gone? To my knowledge, most people don't even scan through title lists, so there shouldn't be trouble with the list being too long. I don't think theres a reason to be rid of them. They don't make the list any less presentable. They're almost unviewable with the typically profile. The only way you can really see them is if the person doesn't have a tribe or soul, and even then it's not an eye sore.
The badges are just another type of achievement, alike the titles, showing what events or activities you've completed in your little mouse life. I could understand wanting to hide badges if they were player implemented (IE Tribes had their own badges which were auto-added to your profile, or people who were regs in certain rooms had that particular number in their profile) but they're not.
They don't hinder gameplay or add to lag, so there's no negative aspects to having them. Some positive aspects are that when you scroll down it brightens up the profile, giving splashes of colors; it also was nice that in return for taking away one aspect of events (no more free items) that they gave us the badges.

tl;dr
They're basically like titles, showing achievements, and it's not something that gets in the way or causes lag.

^ Mmm, this looks easier, and more efficient in my opinion to use.

/support for simply, a better form of organising the badges though.

The scrolling bar still makes it quite spammy for me, if you have alot of badges.
