Defeats the purpose of it being divine mode

how so

honestly in its current state, divine mode is defeating its own purpose. People are arrow nailing to make hard mode builds, or abusing skills and spamming balloons. Almost no one actually knows how to make a V build

And you think a divine mode totem is the answer to these "problems"? 1.) Arrow nailing is part of every kind of building mode. 2.) I've seen quite a number of decent divine mode builders in normal and vanilla rooms, and that's not me being told where to look for them. They just appear. 3.) You can't really abuse a skill, only exploit it.

Not really on board, divine is divine for the challenge, it shouldn't get easier. Also -

Shadowtrophy a dit :

Dude, go try and build divine builds without arrow nails! It's totally possible and it's super interesting and fun! Just go into utility, type !map p4 and try it out.
might even be fun for a game mode

I have tried before and I would agree that it is fun and a good mind challenge. But this doesn't exclude the Divine Mode from having arrow nails. Just like Hard Mode allows arrow nails and Easy Mode has a seemingly endless supply of arrow nails. Use arrow nails or not, Divine Mode is still a challenge to many and arrow nails will never be outlawed in a single mode. Yes, I do agree that Divine Mode is supposed to be a challenge, and a totem for this mode won't reflect this aspect.

P.s. I like those builds there Dedax. Well done (even if one or two maps used arrow nails).

Oh yeah, I don't disagree with you at all! I think I wanted to hint at the fact that divine mode shouldn't get easier or harder, but that the game COULD allow a harder mode than divine mode - that is, remove the arrows.
But then, I don't think a mode like that should exist. Maybe just a module that allows you that.
Also: thanks for the kind words. :-) (i have more)

Another mode is hardly necessary. As it stands divine mode is basically hard mode+ for anyone willing to abuse the plentiful shortcuts. The reason I and others frown upon arrow anchors in divine mode is that it defies the point of V building. Using arrow anchors in V building just turns it into hard mode again, because two V anchors is the same as a C anchor.

The last 2 modes are already so much alike, the only real difference as that hard mode builds need a base (Your totem can do this) and must handle dynamics differently. As of right now divine is no different. If it were reworked, we could actually have something new and challenging.

They're only alike if you're experienced with divine and even then, there's a 54 second difference (in your specific case)

If you want to have fun and build without nails, you can do so! I get there might be a want for stats or something, and yeah, there should be a balance between difficulty/getting an amount of saves, so maybe a little tweaking could be implemented.

In general, I think divine IS challenging to most people. It is to me, under time constraints.

Devine should be a challenge. Its already disappointing of a challenge, since its like farm central. Most of these totems you displayed, are either useless, just speeding up a 5-10 second process, or just making it far too easy. You can even have 1 of those totems through a skill tree xP
Add all the limitations you want, totems are just making it a lot easier. And skills do that enough...

I have been told this would make it too easy a lot, and yet when i go into a normal room i see people throwing arrow nails all over the place and still failing the map miserably. And not mice with 5000 saves, mice as high as level 110+. I can't recall a single time that a map that actually required building (25,66,134) was successfully solved without the shaman using big planks and duct tape while in a vanilla room. I can only imagine it is worse in rooms where p4 and dual sham maps play. And the big plank that you mentioned did not exist when i made this thread and it's extremely op and should be removed for divine mode, as well as that duct tape one.

If you want to see some good divine builds just try the module "#divinity" (or just select it from the module option if you want mice to be in the room) it's divine mode with no skills, only 3 visible balloons allowed, and a decreased score if you use arrows. I've seen people master builds without a single arrow. It's hard but it most certainly isn't impossible.

Divine mode used to be a LOT harder than it is now. They've made it easier with skills and the fact that you aren't limited to 10 arrows (were limited when it first came out)

I do think a totem would be nice under heavy restrictions. When you disregard the Additional Time skill, Divine building takes a lot longer than other modes and not everyone spawns fast (e.g., me).
There will still be challenges in my opinion because every map is different and it will take a very general utility totem to be used in every map without modifications (e.g., a totem made for a flat rectangle map with 120 pixel wide grounds will not work on a map with angled grounds.)
Regarding restrictions, I think as long as the number of anchors are limited, it should be okay. You will still need unanchored objects for counterbalancing.
Unlike Hardmode totems, you simply cannot build a bridge with a limited anchor restriction (There will be exceptions to this but generally, the bridge totem will be used successfully in very few maps.)
So I think this is a reasonable suggestion.
