Lemodile a dit :
The language filters as they are in place are a very drastic measure to ensure that people from smaller communities can hold a conversation in their native language without being flooded with other languages. It obviously does a lot of collateral damage since most people don't actually visit communities other than the one of their own country and since some percentage of those that do actually speak the language.

However, it is the lesser of two evils. For the game it is better to silence people speaking different languages than to have them scare off players of smaller communities.

Because this kind of filtering is something that's only being done if absolutely necessary, it's only applied on smaller communities. It doesn't currently happen on the bigger ones (yes TR is a big community) because there's simply very little chance that foreign languages take over rooms there. I am not saying that that is a fair approach, but it more or less is the reasoning behind the status quo.

I do really hope that at some point this system becomes more flexible, but I would only support expanding these filters to every community (it would be more fair but probably lead to more complaints) if we would be able to manually make exceptions based on whether someone is fluent in the language required in the community they want to talk in.

As a mod, the best explanation you can do is this? :O The players of other servers are scared of Turks,Spanish,Brazilian and Portuguese.
YOU MADE MY DAY!
Even your explanation is contradictory... You claim that "It doesn't currently happen on the bigger ones (yes TR is a big community) because there's simply very little chance that foreign languages take over rooms there." xD
Did you realize it is not only me but also Ifrancesco does not understand the so called "system" of the game?

Ifrancesco a dit :
I still don't get totally how those filters works, since i can speak in almost all servers but other players can't :-\
Is it related to being part of a small community per se or that the blocked communities are the biggest?

Scaring off here would be more akin to annoyed and disheartened than fearful. Would that Lemodile told you driven off instead, as that would be more accurate but less tactful.

No, it's not off-topic at all; but feel free to make use of the report system if you think so.
He was saying that in Lemo's post when the term "scared off" was used, he meant "annoyed." Not "afraid."

I'm trying to keep a straight face at wannabe mod and no knowledge of things at all, but we cannot get into that. I don't fancy another mute. I can say, though, that Haruhitastic said that she left the discussion "for the day" yesterday (hey you're getting off-topic), and what's more is that she is former CFM staff, and a former Sentinel (Aide?) here on these very forums. Digest that.

But anyway those community mutes will not be lifted no matter how you pick apart the rational discourse presented to you. Maybe you can focus on trying to get certain players passes or something to be able to speak elsewhere. You could use the contact form or the Suggestions subforum at your pleasure. This just feels like it's become snapping at each other.

I do not try to "snap" at each other. I just find it weird why you and Haruhitastic keep commenting on this important issue since you guys are NOT mods at all. Even the mod (Lemodile) himself can not make a proper explanation, but you guys keep commenting on it...
WHAT A NICE BUNCH OF GUYS VERYYYYY HELPFUL !

This isn't an important issue to this community if we are being completely honest.

Full blown sent yep.

Sinnwidrig a dit :

Exactly. I can think of 34940394 other things, such as crippling bugs and the fact every other game they try to release is failing. Most people agree that this system is fine, it's only the ones who it effects. I can understand the frustration, sure, and I agree it's unfair for people who speak English fluently but can't speak on E2, or people who speak the languages of other communities yet can't speak there.

As I previously stated, I speak Japanese but can't speak on JP due to the blocks there. Do you know why it's blocked, including for us so called English-speakers who "can swear everywhere?" Because of racists who would go there and make racist remarks against Asians (the typical bullshit, "you eat dogs," et cetera), and weeaboos who studied their Japanese at the School of Anime and Google Translate.
As you can imagine, that's INCREDIBLY awkward for Japanese speakers, who have possibly one of the smallest communities on A801 right now and want to branch out.
This is what Lemo meant by "scaring people off." As is the Japanese are frustrated by the amount of farmers that go to the server, but imagine if they could speak as well? It'd be a disaster.
So that's what Lemo was saying.

Do you at least get the point now?

Yet again you miss the point I am trying to make. I was using the Japanese server as an example of how other communities may feel. I'm not going to list the reasons why every server may not want other people on it.
This is NOT about any problem you may have with x race/community, this is why x race/community doesn't want people randomly speaking their language on it. Why is it so difficult of a concept to grasp?

You finally get it?
Okay. Let's graduate to the next part:

Other players will deal with the same feelings if foreigners come to their server and speak. I've been on BR and have spoke with friends there, and I slip English into my Portuguese speaking and I'm called out for it. So imagine if a Romanian player went to TR and began speaking Romanian.
It's all the same concept. It's all alienation. It's not rocket science.

I DO WANT THIS THING TO STOP. I AM TIRED. I WANNA GO TO GET A BEER.

You know everything better than anyone else. Whatever you say is the absolute truth, OK?

IM OUT. Take care.

It's currently not possible without a VPN / Proxy. You can also use /chat to create a channel in which you can speak with your friends. Bear in mind that when using a VPN / Proxy you are still expected to actually speak Czech; speaking a foreign language will eventually earn you a mute.

Don't involve me into your war, sir, I was only curious about who can talk where, i don't give a damn about talking in any server at all (with the exception of En, De, Nl and En2, where luckily i can talk and at least say hi to my friends without disrupting the chat)
