Grace curled her tail nervously as the small 'raid team' made their way toward the Kyuketsuki mansion. Shortly after leaving the clearing they'd camped in, Khris tapped Grace's shoulder and pointed to an open window, where Fog was gently flapping her wings to land lightly on the ground. After landing, she sighed. Grace told Alexander and Khris to stay on the edge of the woods and took a deep breath. She walked over to the newly-turned vampire girl and quickly introduced herself as Grace Keeble. "I'm Fog. Fog Castrodoph." The girl replied. "But now isn't the time for idle chat. We need to get out of here before Claude or Katsu notices I'm gone." Grace nodded, weary of Fog but deciding it was best to trust her. The two ran to Alexander and Khris, glanced behind them to make sure neither of the vampires were following them, then quickly fled to Grace's manor.
The four were panting heavily, their feet aching. One of Fog's wings was crooked, and Grace had to pop it back into place. Alexander looked at her as if to say 'What now?' and Grace shook her head in reply. "We need to rest for now, and figure out what happened to Fog and she can tell us everything to give us an edge." Fog pressed her wings to her back, nervous.

"Akira! Akira!" Cherry called, panting from running down the hallway. "Claude and Katsu are furious. That girl they caught - she was bitten by Katsu, and survived. She's a vampire now. Not only that - she escaped the mansion." Akira flexed his wings. "It's good that she's alive, bad that she's a newly-turned vampire out in the world, and it's bad that we don't know her location. 2-1, bad wins." He muttered with a sigh. "Tell Claude to find her as soon as possible. It's dangerous for her." Cherry nodded and ran off again.

"She's gone?!" Katsu snapped as Claude gave him the news, his wings pressed to his back and his ears lowered. He was clearly frightened by the Kyuketsuki son. "Yes, Kat, she's gone." Katsu ran a hand through his hair and muttered several curses in a language that Claude didn't understand. "We're going to find her, Claude." "Even though she's a huge pain in the tail?" Claude groaned. Katsu gave him a glare, which shut him up. "You'll start searching tonight, got it?" Claude nodded with a sigh and left the room, knowing he couldn't win an argument with Katsu. That damned girl, Katsu thought. she doesn't even know what she's getting herself into.

After Fog's explanation about what'd happened to her and everything she knew about the vampire council and the Kyuketsuki's, Grace was intrigued. "I knew about the council, but I didn't know that the Kyuketsuki's made a habit of turning mice into vampires." Her tail curled, and Alexander looked to Grace. "Wait- How did you know about the council?" Grace sighed. "I have vampire acquaintances. Akira, the one I mainly talk to, is the heir to the Zephyr head. He also runs the council." Khris nodded, and Grace noticed he wasn't shaking for once. Fog curled her tail. "You know Adelina, right?" Grace nodded. "She's the other one I talk to." Fog let out a sigh of relief. "So there are vampires on our side." "Like you?" Khris joked, laughing a bit. Alexander and Grace snickered, and Fog herself smiled. "Yeah, like me."

I need to go see Grace. Akira decided, flexing his rarely-used wings. Setting his sights in the direction of Grace's manor, he took off, his huge wings sending a burst of air into the bedroom where he'd been just seconds before. He flew as swiftly as possible, but still trying to make sure he didn't fall out of the sky. He soon landed on the windowsill.
Alexander let out a sharp gasp of surprise, and Khris wasn't too long after. "Oh, there you are, Akira. I was wondering when you'd come." Akira stepped inside, not noticing Adelina behind him. "Nice to see you, too, Adelina." Akira glanced behind him. I thought I felt like I was being followed. He thought with a grunt. Akira glanced around the room and noticed Fog. "You're the girl, right?" Fog nodded, not knowing what to say. "That's nice to hear. I'm glad you're alright." Fog was taken aback by Akira's kindness, but nodded again.

"We're all convened. That's good." Adelina noted, eyeing Alex and Khris. "These two are new." Grace nodded. "Alex was happy to figure out he could help, and Khris is a close friend of his." Akira grinned. "That's good. We need all the help we can-"
He suddenly cut off as Katsu flew through the window, effectively barreling him over. Claude followed and gently landed on the floor. Khris's eyes flew open, but only for a moment. They'd soon narrowed again, and he was charging Katsu, knocking him off of Akira. Katsu leapt for the cowardly yet heroic mouse, and Fog blocked his way. This was surprising enough to make the elder vampire stop in his tracks. Fog glared at him, as if to say "You won't hurt them." Katsu backed away one step, but didn't stop his threatening glances at the mice and vampires in the room. Claude leaned against the wall, not sure if he should necessarily be supporting Katsu, whom was probably his only friend.
Fog continued her protective stance. "I know you won't hurt me." She half-spat, hostile. Her wings were spread, and from Katsu's point of view, Khris was unable to be seen.
Katsu realized he should try a different approach, so he lowered his hostility. "Fog, dearest, I was only worried about you." Fog rolled her eyes, but dropped her guard slightly. "If you'd been worried, then why did you attack him?" She snapped, nodding her head towards where Akira was bandaging an injured leg because it'd been bleeding, although the wound would be fine in a day's time. "You don't seem to understand, Fog. Our families are basically what you'd call political enemies." Fog rolled her eyes again. "You don't seem to understand that, although you may be enemies, nobody would want this war to go on." Katsu seemed taken aback by the remark. He'd never payed any attention to what happened outside the manor, really. Claude often came back looking regretful and stained with blood, but he'd never minded him. "Mice and vampires alike are dying, Katsu. Or did you not realize that? The vampire slayers are forming a society, and they're killing us off. They wouldn't hesitate to do the same to you." Katsu seemed to understand, and that's when Claude pitched in. "Is that why you're with them?" He tilted his head towards where Grace, Alexander, and Khris were somewhat huddled with Akira and Adelina. Fog dropped her guard entirely, folding her wings, and nodded. "I see." Katsu said suddenly. He flexed his wings thoughtfully. Claude tried not to chuckle, knowing that Katsu didn't really 'appreciate' the thought of death. "You have a plan to stop this entire war, then?" Fog pointed at Akira. "I don't, but he does."

I've decided that I don't really like how this was written in the previous chapters and have re-read it and have decided to rewrite both this story and Ballad Of A Cursed Soul and request that these threads be closed. I will make new ones in hopefully the near future with the same characters, but written better (in my opinion) and more to the ideas I see now as compared to the ones I saw last year or the year before when writing these. I do not believe that the stories themselves or the characters' personalities will vary much in the newer versions.
