/support! this would be really useful to remind people who hardly ever check the forums. and it wouldn't be ME nagging.

It was just a single line saying "You have [x] messages on the forums." Not really spam.

They mean for the moderators, they probably get a lot of messages here and they would get spammed in chat if they now do. I think being able to turn it off is a good suggestion.

I wouldn't mind this as long as the messages were presented like this:
