Also, I assume it'd be annoying as hell if you receive a lot of whispers, so maybe only receive a whisper for each person who whispers you, and it resets in like 10 minutes.
For example, if John (great example username, I know, thanks) whispers you, there's a "ping" noice, but it doesn't happen when John whispers you afterwards until 10 minutes have passed.
Or maybe it stops happening once you start replying. I don't know.
I like the idea, though.

If you turn it on it's going to be annoying, if you turn it off you won't hear it when you're AFK. You'd have to manually turn it on when you and changing pages :/
