New Years map 2015 - FIFA the diamond in the rough.

This year for the New Years map, as always the main design is the Seatle Space Needle, but as you can see there is both 2014 and 2015 written on two sides, the Seatle Space Needle is colored in the FIFA World Cup colors because out of all the things that happened this year, FIFA was the only good thing. It gave Germany a step out of it's fear of German nationalism, through the idea of winning, and gave everyone else such an amazing time. (For those who don't know apparently many Germans feared celebrating their own country in the idea it would bring forth the 4th Reich? I don't know, either way I was happy to see many Germans waving their flag without people thinking of Nazism.)

On the left of the map you can see written, in a very depressing font. 2014 Fascism, WWIII, Uganda, and Со́чи

These represent the utterly horrid things that were a big part of this year. Below I will list all of them and explain them too.

Fascism
In 2014, with the events of Ferguson, Tamir Rice, John Crawford, and countless other black men/women killed by the American police for bad reasons, it became clear America now had a Fascist Police Force. I'd love you to watch this video down below that represents exactly what I'm talking about.



Со́чи
For those who are unaware, Со́чи is the Russian spelling for Sochi, where the Olympics were held this year. The Sochi Olympics was the worst Olympics I had ever seen, not because it was poorly done, but because of the things that happened. Russia has a law against gays, and as many know the Olympics are welcomed by everyone, no one may be excluded due to race, religious reasons, or the group they belong to. Even Google was mad about what happened making their front page this.



With this in mind, Russia not only broke such a grand rule, they also used the Sochi Olympics as a cover up when invading the Ukraine, building up their army while the news covered Sochi. Which brings us to our next word.

WWIII
As many of you know, we are not in WWIII, but during this year because of what happened in the Ukraine and Sochi, we came closer than ever to a World War III. With the deaths of many, from all countries, Russia was relentless in keeping Ukraine, sanctions were very slim due to the idea of WWIII happening because of them. Planes shot down, armies out, it looked like WWIII was seriously about to happen. Thankfully it didn't, however a part of the Ukraine had to be sacrificed.
To the brave souls of Ukraine, who fought for their freedom, and had it threatened yet again, I am sorry for what happened, and wish you well. In America I saw many Ukrainians who fled here, they were nice.



Uganda

I utterly cried at this when I heard it actually happened. Uganda now has a bill to bring the death penalty to LGBT. Nothing can even be done anymore, a protest would result in death. Which makes me so sad.

To this I give you something a person like me rarely ever has the courage for, crying, I can't tell you how I feel, It's literally not something I can do, the words just arn't there, so I'll show you.



The amount of hope I have for 2015 is high, I only wish it won't end up like this year.

The map is dedicated to all those who died this year, fighting a unwinnable fight for what they loved, and what was right.
