No idea on those. I would guess they're a permanent addition too, but I haven't seen Sydo say anything about them. (This is actually the first I've heard of them!)

Sydo comfirmed they will stay. It is currently on discussion making them re-usable for like bootcamp. But what we do know is that it will be permanent.

Marketing tactic #:
Add content that a player can obtain with in the game, and by paying for it. If the content is (reasonably) hard to obtain, players would more likely spend money on this content.

At the rate people complain, it'll probably last for more than a week. Sydo announced it might last for up to two weeks.
