First of all, so what if some people have a problem? There are always going to be people who disagree with certain things one way or another, and that'll never change. Regardless, I'm pretty sure a lot of us are tired of hearing that things like these can't be implemented because some people are against LGBTQ. Times are changing and people are becoming more and more open to how people choose to identify themselves. If people want times to change, then there needs to continuously BE change. I'm pretty sure non binary people are well aware of the bullying and harassment that could potentially occur. That is why moderators and blacklists exist. This is a minor change to the game that will help those who identify themselves in different ways feel a lot more welcome and more able to express themselves, which in turn could attract more players.
For those of you that are still against, feel free to say what else is problematic about it, and I'll gladly find away around that problem for you! (:

You see, the problem is not that people are against the LGBT. No one is.
But a game runs on resources. You either satisfy a certain part of the community, or you try to look at the whole playerbase. The choice is yours to take.
It's better to implement something else that would be of more usefulness, rather than adding another gender pick.
I just don't get what's the problem with you all. There's the "None" option out there. You'd have to feel lucky it exists instead of having a game that forces you to pick one of the 2 genders.
Don't try thinking that, just because TFM is a flash game, you could become a literal god in it. It would be far more understandable if it's a game like WoW or any other MMORPG but not a flash one. There are far more things to worry about than having a 3rd or 4th gender pick option.
And also, this would prove to the playerbase that they could get whatever they want. Making it even more.. chaotic.

Extremely funny and silly of me to log back in for a topic like this, but "None" doesn't describe nonbinary individuals at large.

Being nonbinary simply expresses that you aren't a binary gender - the binary being "Either Male or Female."

Being agender is an identity that falls under the nonbinary umbrella and expresses that the individual identifies with no gender.

Nonbinary as a whole would evidently be described accurately as "Neither".

I'll throw in a /support, as LGBT individuals should be able to express themselves freely. There are people in the thread that describe that "None" or a lack of expression entirely does not describe them accurately, and who is anyone to tell them to settle.

If added, simply don't use it if you don't want to use it. The arguments against the addition - barring misunderstandings - have been pretty silly.

first and foremost thanks for sharing your opinion! i'd also like to mention that transformice is actually no longer going to be a flash game, as flash is dying and it's been encouraging players to migrate to standalone. anyway, personally i dont identify as non-binary but i have a lot of friends on this game who do, including my soulmate. i believe they all deserve equal representation and it wouldn't be some major change to the game, all it is is adding one more gender. sure, we could take into account that there is a none option, but i'd like to bring up a good point that was made by Etoile, which is this:

i agree wholeheartedly with everything they said, but particularly what they said here should be taken into account the most in my opinion. people want to express themselves in the same way as others here who already have the chance to do so. i'd also like to throw in that you wouldn't have to add numerous genders at all. that's because anything that is not "male" or "female" is out of the gender binary, hence why it's called non-binary. now, back to yassuo! i'm also confused about what you said, if you're trying to insinuate that non-binary people and people who are supportive of it have some sort of god-complex for wanting to be able to have something to represent themselves(which is wrong completely). and also, are you trying to say that people asking for representation are chaotic? because that's what you seemed to imply here, although i could be wrong! anyways that's all i wanted to say thx

I'm not quite sure how I was read as implying a god complex, but to elaborate further, folks shouldn't tell nonbinary individuals to settle for what are basically breadcrumbs. Historically, that's what the LGBT community is told to do.

I tried to imply that someone who has the will to talk over nonbinary individuals - whether out of ignorance or malice - are pretty shameful. I haven't really heard a valid justification to argue against adding a nonbinary option.

i am a part of the lgbtq+, but i've came across some BAD people who spread a LOT of hate over the matter, and non-binary is just no-gender, which is why they have the "None" option, and if you're genderfluid, just switch the gender depending on how you feel during the time, and for transgender people like me you can just put your gender to whatever you're transitioning to (MtF pick female, FtM pick male), it's not hard! so i'm sorry, i love the fact lgbtq+ people want a place, but they already HAVE a place here, so this is just a useless idea

im not trying to cause any issues but implying nonbinary people arent trans is really enbyphobic... i say this as a nonbinary person !! nonbinary just means to not be 100% a boy or 100% a girl, it can be neither or it can be both and both are valid. please learn from this and rethink your position.

I would prefer the game not take a step towards international controversy and just remain in a neutral position. I can empathize but a move like this is essentially PR nightmare for those on the opposition and causes more trouble than we really should need out of a game. I may be old fashion here but asking someone to call you by a certain set of pronouns when conversating should continue to do the trick.

This is pure speculation and may not actually happen.
The Transformice userbase has never been known to make either organized nor efficient enough of a revolt, with my experiences as a moderator in mind. I recognize this point as a complete non-issue, and while I understand the tip-toeing because we're all forced into the closet due to our daily lives, outside of this game...

It is not that deep.
The harassment mods have faced over the years will always be a worse scar on TFM than transphobic whining that would pass after, what, a couple of days?
