Screw the old title, I'm going to complete the event until the badge, since I have Grilled Chestnut (although the title doesn't quite make sense, compared to Cock-a-doodle-doo). So far I have 32 or 33 out of 40 :)

We used to need them in the first weekly event, Astrological Event, trading our zodiacal cheese with someone using high five emote. The zodiacal sun is used to show your zodiacal cheese.

So on the game it says, To tell you what cheese amongst the 12 signs is missing, the almighty moon will show you which you have already gathered for her. Its actually on the announcement on TFM.

I've bounced on the grape, climbed the lights, and done whatever I can. Why will it not show me what I'm missing? ( Im only missing 4 DX )

That'll be fixed tomorrow morning too. The moon is supposed to fill with the different cheese signs, so you see in a quick glance the ones you already have...
Sorry for those bugs, it makes what was supposed to be a simple event quite confusing :x

Why is the Zodiacal Sign consumable permanent? Isn't it just used for this event?

We thought it would be funny to let people keep them, so they can trade them to newcomers all year round so they know what sign they are. But yeah, we could have made them temporary.
