Even Tig did it on the table.
You can spam even outside the house, it counts.

Then why does the bar never fill up until people get to the bed and start spamming?

While people are running to the bed, they aren't spamming until they reach it. The bar won't start rising until enough are spamming. It doesn't matter where they stand.
