| We are beginning to enter the digital age in which the average age of the internet user is decreasing. People are exposed to technology as young as the age of 1 or 2 in most places. A few years ago, children would be exposed at 6/7, in my case, 12. We are in an age where technology is decreasing in size, and increasing in speed. The correlation here is that as the average age of the internet user decreases, the average age of online players also decreases. I believe the age should be lowered to accommodate for this. I believe 10 or 11 is a good balance. Picking up on something else I saw in this thread that "nobody reads the rules". I believe when somebody first logs into the game, they should be introduced to a minigame in which they are forced to read the rules before they can proceed (e.g. walk left or right). |

Awesomepro a dit : I support this 100%. RuneScape has a similar system when first joining the game, and there's also the Stronghold of Security which lets you get a lot of items and money while learning account safety. |

| Honestly, I don't know wether or not I support this. I do believe most of today's kids are rather immature, but there are still a bunch that are more mature than 18-year-olds... Sadly. And this is till a game that's suitable for children, so I do believe children should be able to play it. Because... If they don't have games like this one; they will play GTA, Assassin's creed and all that - Which will result in them becoming less mature, and joining the other bunch of moronic kids. So... I believe this game is perfect for kids. |

| I think the 13+ rule should be followed simply because the mindset of someone below the age of 13 can be weak. They are still growing and learning and can be effected very negatively by things that someone of a more mature age could just brush off. Good Example from a quote off someone here a dit : there is a reason why certain movies have age limits and I feel as though this game's content... despite being cute.. can be very mature for a 9 year old simply because of the fact that it has an open chat. I've had 10 year olds whisper to me, giving me their personal information right off the bat without even asking for it. They are not old enough to compreheand the danger in doing that. They need those few extra years to build up an awareness. Just because you were introduced to the internet at a young age, does not mean you are ready for it. Part of the fact that they're still maturing... there are children that think it's cool to act older than what they are... hence the sex talk and vulgar language. Cursing should remain allowed to an extent.. just certain statements should be counted as offences. It is so much of a problem that it's seen on a regular basis and hardly anything is ever done about it despite the multiple reports that are made. The issue is that they are old enough to know what certain words are, but not old enough to understand the effect those words can have. It creates an unpleasant gaming experience for everyone else around, especially when topics like "rape" are being mentioned and joked about. Some of it is so bad it qualifies for sexual harrassment. The first steps to tackle this problem head on would be to ban anyone/everyone who admits to being under the age of 13 ....and to prevent certain keywords from being posted in chat. Proper moderating is key, in my opinion. edit* to go into greater detail on what i mean by having certain keywords prevented from being posted in chat... here's a story for an example: Mouse1 was fighting with mouse2 in chat. Everything being said was posted until Mouse1 tried saying "I'll rape your mom". The chat system automatically recognized the word rape being used and would not let the text go through until mouse1 changed what they were going to say to something more appropriate like "Whatever. Your mom eats poop" (Mice can still be immature but less vulgar which is why I think this is a good idea that is worth looking into & trying.) |

Spookshow a dit : Please no. This would ruin my life. No joke, I'm addicted to tfm. My life would be ruined forever. (Plus, most people under the age of 13 buy fraises. Like my friend who is 9 buys 500 fraises once a week. So, that'd mean less money for you.. sorry if that's off-topic.) At least wait till August.. Not to act all full of myself or whatever, but I don't think people should be banned if they're under the age of 13 unless they do something wrong. For instance, I'm 12, sure, under 13, but three of my friends asked what my age was; two of them were 17 and one was 15 or 16, I'm not sure. I replied with honesty, and I told them that I was 12. They were shocked, especially one of the 17 year olds who thought I was her age, as I recall. Although they said this, I personally do not think that I am that mature. I don't think I act 17, more like 13 or 14, at the most.. I think everyone, whether the age of 10 or 14 or 18, has their immature and mature moments. For example, I'm under 13 but I can act mature when I want to. At times I act immature, but usually only around my close friends. Those who are older also act very immature, and they are the main ones who joke about rape, even though it's obviously not even funny. If transformice decided to ban all 13-'s, then Transformice would be breaking a bunch of people's hearts and wasting a lot of people's money, and there definitely would be many complaints. Plus, if you IP banned them.. Well, I have the same IP as my two older sisters who play Transformice, and they would be so mad if they got banned because their little sister was under-aged. Yay for more long paragraphs! :D Bengalstar a dit : :D -high fives- |

Spookshow a dit : While I do admit that blocking certain keywords would be a good idea, I don't think that would change things by much. I've played games with such keywords before, and people easily avoided them by changing up the spellings a little bit or unincluding one letter, so that they were still able to be vulgar even with the keyword system. Cyndaquilkid a dit : I believe everything under 13 is under age in this case. |

Spookshow a dit : Please no. You have no idea how many members would be banned. Some even had their parents buy fraises and that helps keep the game up. Getting rid of anyone 12 and under only hurts the game. It doesn't make it any better. |

| as much as I agree with the idea of banning users under thirteen since it IS a violation of COPPA, it would kill TFM's moneybase, yes. Userbase as well, given I'd say a good 40% of the BR server alone is under 13. |
