I did notice but you should realize they only closed the applications 4 days ago so I don't see how they'd reffer to this round of apps as "previous" given they didn't even review the applications yet.

Technically the applications that just closed (January 2020) are now previous ones, regardless of if they've hired any players from those applications or not. Which means what they're saying in the announcement post is that Alfiecakes was not hired from the 2020 applications, but from the July 2019 ones.

When Staff states "they were not hired from the previous round of applications..." when new moderators are announced, it means that they were not from the most recent application period (in this case, January 10th, 2020 -- January 31st, 2020). We usually say this to defer any kind of confusion. Alfiecakes was not picked from the most recent applications and were hired previously during another hiring period. Mods go through a an extensive period where they receive the necessary training before becoming a public moderator. This time is indefinite, but definitely not 1-4 days long. This is why we feel the need to clarify that new staff might not have came from a recent hiring period.

I think you're looking too far into it and getting yourself confused by it.

It’s not your concern as Alfie wouldn’t have been hired if they weren’t 18. The technicalities of when they applied doesn’t matter. What does arguing about it achieve?

Also, we’ve been reviewing this application cycle continuously since it was opened. Though we’re still reviewing, since they’re closed, it’s fine to call them “previous.”

I don’t see how it appears we’re being secretive since Admins wouldn’t allow us to hire someone under 18 even if we tried. We have fully explained this miscommunication and I edited the post to be more clear, which doesn’t seem very biased or secretive.

He could've applied while being 17. Being 17 when apps closed yet being 18 once they finished reviewing the apps (Since they take a while) hence still being accepted. Even so,isn't that against the rules then?~

It states that an applicant can apply even if they are 17, if they turn 18 by a set date. It wouldn't be illegal to apply when you're underage, but as long as you've turned 18 by the time mentioned in the post, it's fine. If they're 17 when applying, they won't be hired until they've turned 18 either way.
This is exactly how it works for Mapcrew too, you can apply even if you're under the age of 18, but you won't be considered for a position as a full Mapcrew member unless you're 18+.

It's information which isn't really relevant, or what the public needs to know. Like other mod-related things ;)
Some mods might also feel uncomfortable revealing what round of apps they were hired in, as some take longer than others to be trained. Now, this is not a bad thing at all, as everyone is different! But I know i'd feel uncomfortable if people knew when I was hired.
