Please help me report drama makers and assholes. You might notice there's a 20 post discrepancy between the number of this post and the number of posts the thread is stated to possess. Anyway; trying different things. I'm taking a break from the request thread Dernière modification le 1488375060000 |

I honestly could write an essay about how overused and worthless compliments like "cute" and all its derivatives are; I recognise these are meant to be compliments but they're about as dry bone, I-just-like-to-see-my-own-icon-on-your-thread, a compliment as any could make. If I was any more paranoid I'd think you were just advertising yourselves, which isn't appreciated. These comments are just unnecessary distractions and I'd have them removed if I thought I could get away with it. Besides, if I wanted to be cute I would draw mice like all those sharkpuppy assembly line clones used to amass likes and reblogs on Tumblr. I'd rather not be complimented at all than have to read the word cute one more time. ~~~Sorry my personality is just maximum anal~~~ Dernière modification le 1488646620000 |

a0xis, you do a have a point, and i understand why lmao being so open minded, not close minded, to the point where you would compliment even pastel gore or just creepy ass stuff in general literally means youre complimenting that person just for the sake of kindness. if you have an actual compliment at least dont just say cute, its not helping anybody coming from someone whose entire thread is literally filled with this (omg so cuuute!)

I personally am tired of hearing repetitive words such as cute, pretty or amazing as well I mean I appreciate that people actually care enough to comment but I feel like people should also expand on their vocabulary since saying something which you have heard a thousand times isn't very... May I put it appreciated? Kind of like saying, "Yeah I get it my art is adorable" but isn't there anything else that an describe an artists skill? |

Yes yes, I feel so bad for all the artists, especially the ones who don't even draw things in a "cute" way like myself, being spammed with all these worthless, safe, BORING compliments. I understand it must be done out of pure kindness but then why is it "kindness" to take no more thought or care of mine/other's work than pick the first compliment that comes to the mind? Capital letters and bad grammar doesn't hide how little they actually bothered; I hazard a guess most people spend more time typing the comment than looking at the latest art itself. I physically force people to compliment me in the request thread and its actually all so ... pitiful. The only compliment worth my time was recongition that I'm an edgelord. I wish I could throw a thesaurus at some of the people on this site (and I did, once). It doesn't get by me how little care and attention is actually given to artists on the site. Its disgusting that artists grovel to it: thank you thank you thank you for your half a sentence of ego stroking, but I'm actually only replying to this comment because I haven't drawn anything for a week. 90% of new posts from artists are just written, token acknowledgments of a shitty compliment. Its why the fan art section is completely stagnent and drivel. Just post some god damn art, people! I have that lovely ref six posts up from here, hint hint. One solution to fix the fan art section is to put some fucking time and energy into how you let an artist know you want to take their art behind an Arby's (looking at you, Monsterboyo *licks lips*). The other solution is, and you know who I'm calling out because god damn all of you do this, just to post more art than you post compliment acknowledgements. EDIT: You know what, I'm calling out all the sentinels, too, because your trigger happy "If I don't understand a word in this sentence it MUST be an insult" way of moderating the site is why I recon' people are AFRAID of saying anything more substantial that "so cute" in the first place. I honestly agree with you I draw things that arent meant to be "cute" and most likely is closer to depressing and I get comments saying its "cute" ( however I dont post them here mainly because I draw them on paper rather then on a computer and these comments are just people from my class) Although even I sometimes say a drawing is cute ( if its actually cute ) or I would explain how its cute so I can give reasons why it is. (Although most comments are just mainly people from my class or I know in real life) Finally someone I can relate with.. Also I would say your art has a calming feel to it as the colours go really nicely together Dernière modification le 1488658740000 |

I'm actually surprised people are with me on this one instead of dismissing me as a cuck for complaining about compliments, which I wouldn't have blamed anyone for doing. I suppose this isn't just my sensitivity, its something eating away at all of you, eating away at the very foundation of this community, which no one has been brave enough to point out for fear of the expected, inevitable fallout. Calming is a new one, I do draw to calm myself very often. |
