Okay i didn't really follow sourisplum's advice...I downloaded paint tool sai and it's great!!! :d but I'm having trouble with colouring and the magic selection stuff. I selected the hair by choosing color selection and turning it down to 0. Then i colored it in. After that, I mangaed to color in the skin. But now I'm having trouble with trying to colour the shirt. it won't select now if I click it then it selecets everything!
(p.s: Sorry if you don't understand what i mean, I typed that in a rush :3)

That might be because your lines aren't connecting

o3o everything what bakachoy said, but if you are not sure what he is tlaking i can do a visual talk on it.

we can select the 1st one, because the lines are connected


but the 2nd one cant, because it has a small hole, no matter how small, as long is a gap, it will select everything.


So either you cover the gap, or use the selection tool ( not magic wand! )

It couldn't have been that, as I mangaed to color in the other things. There was a gap but I fixed it, but it still isn't working :(

Ah okay..I get it :D but I can't view the images as your image host is blocked on my computer :9 If you can, could you repost that in phototbucket? ;) I mangaed to colour the part I needed to, but only using the selelection tool :DIt still seems kind of messed up for me though :( After I coloured in the part I was asking about, I started on the eyes, but for some reason it wouldn't colour with the pens, pencils, etc. I had to much around with layers before it finally worked and I could colour.

I use Sai *w*

Thanks to it's luminence to transparency feature I can isolate scanned lineworks ;w;

Plus I like coloring with it.

i use these settings to blend colors in sai if anyone wants it

anyways i decided to draw something and this is how it turned out:

to color in sai i duplicate the linework layer and put the duplicate under the original and use the bucket tool to fill in the duplicate

i just use the magic wand tool for the space i want to color and go to selections and click increment because there's usually parts that weren't selected with the wand
i find this a lot easier than anything else when coloring :P

yeah i just don't like the magic wand tool so much idk

another way you can use the magic wand is by clicking outside the lineart oyu dont want to color, then click "Selection" and click "invert". thats how i used basically, and then using "Selection Source", i will just use the bucket to fill in those other colors.

Ctrl+E = Merge with below layer
Ctrl+F = Fills in color which you selected
