It honestly took me a full day to think if I did want to speak up in a clearer way, both because I want to formulate my idea in the best way possible, both because I've seen this situation many times already, and feels like fighting againt the windmills like Don Quixote. Things never change uh?

First of all, former staff member here, even if it has been a long time ago, not for a long time. It was enough time to have an understanding of the mechanichs, that feels like they didn't change at all.


1) I do agree with Peanut with the friend and friend of a friend point. Back in the day there were a huge powerhouse of stafff and not staff members that had the upper hand on applications. I found myself into helpers for years and I was convinced into applying. With my surprise my "friendship" with some helper Leader got me into the Staff. I also need to point out that I'm not talking about Shamousie here, he's a cool lad and he's always beeen a real professional. In addition to this I'd like to point out that stating "IRL IT IS NORMAL TO PRIORITIZE PEOPLE YOU KNOW" it's a forgettable excuse, probably no staff member had the opportunity to make a decision like that in real life.

2) That being said I had the opportunity to take a peek of the behind the scenes. As Peanut said, yes, there are powerhouses that use their seniority to make big decisions for the rest of the team, in the most sublte way, i.e. per staff application as soon as the system registers a new appplication they jump into the thread and they say no/yes. Obviously if a senior member calls out an application, arbs and secret mods follow their lead. It is subtle. In months I've never seen a staff member (with the exception of Rype) ghosting a player to see how they behave.
In addition to this despite the staff world is a friendly environnement it is strongly ruled by a we are a claque, and as soon as I got demoted all my "friends" that remained into the staff stopped interacting with me at machspeed because they did not want to be associated with me, as I was "a bad seed"(and this is what I've been called by one of the admins, I still got their messages somewhere in my old pc).

3) As per Arbs and secret staff, it is ridiculous how they never take responsability for their actions. They are always covered by public mods that bans players without doublechecking, expecially for chat related issues, this is wrong on so many levels. I would only say I got a ban for sharing a pornografic link, despite this never happened, and I was in a password locked private room with only 2 other players. I'm not stupid, that clearly means that a secret mod (or a public mod as far as I'm concerned) /ninja'd me and banned me for 360H because they wanted to.
Reporting this kind of behaviour is useless as well, I escalated this up to Zou that simply replied that I had a bias because I was demoted. Does everyone see how things works inside the staffworld now?

I had a buttload of other things in my mind but as I was writing them down I lost the willpower to try to give any feedback or info on the matter. Because posts like this happen every other year and nothing ever change.
They see a few bad apples do not rot the full basket, that is not true, bad apples release Ethylene, that rots the entire lot. So far the only thing to solve the issue should be remove the vast majority of the staff and start from scratch, which is not possible.

Thank you for addressing this! Good to know that you personally give everyone a fair chance, and I hope others too. Feedback is the thing that makes or breaks the relationship between staff and regular players. I hope everyone gets feedback on their applications so they know what they can improve.

I don't know how many times we have to shoot down rumors that people are only chosen based off of if we are friends with them or not. When I was hired I knew only one person on the team at the time, but I worked hard on my reporting and having all around good behavior and activity. It's honestly not hard as long as you're a generally good person who is also active enough.

Through my times as staff and the application process, my favorite part of it is seeing all the people apply who I didn't know existed until then because it's always nice to find the little diamonds in the rough. While some friends have applied that I knew would do well, I've also had friends apply who I knew wouldn't do well. It's nice to get to know people and get the more 'quiet' players involved with the community or seeing how applicants of the past who may have been denied get accepted in the future as they kept working on themselves.

Every single staff member (at least for EN) has their own story on how they've made it to staff, and I can even say that many of us had been denied in the past (myself included, I was denied twice before third time was the charm). Just be genuine, just be kind, and just be active. I cannot emphasize that enough.

I have to agre what @Hyuk wrote about Sollyun, I found it ludicrous about stuff related to their bad English, it's something that usually happens for whoever lives in a country where English is not their mother language, like in my case.
Also @+Minstens, Meli is a woman, mind you.

I'm assuming this was aimed at my post above. If you carefully read my post, I didn't deny favoritism or defend it. I stated that it's a problem not specific to TFM and it's not as bad as described by some people here. Knowing people in the staff helps your chances of getting in if and ONLY if they're active and ambitious players with historically good behavior. I have personally seen the denial of players from staff positions BECAUSE they were friends with certain staff members. This is because their good application contradicted the poor anecdotal experiences they had of said person. Friendship can be a tool for a way in, or an automatic disqualification. I also want to add that there are actually quite a bit of people in each batch of applicants for all EN positions that are not friends with anyone. The last thing I will say is that you have to understand how many below-standard and flat-out awful applications I've seen. Some may attribute it to "favoritism" but a lot of people just really don't have good applications. That limits it down quite a bit.

that's not the point. the point is that it's an issue that should be solved. and this issue shouldn't be forgotten about that easily. the things peanut_butter mentioned in the thread still happen to this day, which is very unfortunate.

If this topic were created in any section on the Brazilian server, I am sure that the creator would be banned. On the Brazilian server, we went through similar things and we have no assistance from the administration.

This is the most special game i have ever touched, and loved since the day i first joined during Halloween Event 2010.
Game was so special and unique, and i longed to explore and get to know it more!
Do not give in to corruption, my heart will be crushed if Transformice sees its death soon or becomes abandoned..

Wow, they would ban the person for such a thing... Interesting BR Community have had multiple ups and downs from corrupted mods accounts to unjustifiable bans, and the second most obvious staff community with the mods being friends to each other/same tribe. which is lowkey similar to EN staff but yeah.. sadly that is the case we are dealing with.

How many more ex-staff members WHO ARE NOT FIRED. need to come out to explain how badly they were treated/how horrible the staff actions were. Like ediz stated this has been going on from 2011 since lawbot was part of the staff... it will continue going on and on and over and over just because the patterns keeps on repeating.. shooting down accusations with zero evidence/saying some of us didn't see what happens in the background of this whole voting system on applications/the process from arbiter to mod by sucking up and not actual work... is not a way to end this topic.

Transformice has not been a priority since 2013, and it never will become a priority ever again. It is the root of all problems we see today. These annually recurring walls of text coming from ex-staff members will not change anything as long as players continue to maintain the status quo by buying fraises. When you are buying fraises, you are not supporting the game Transformice. Instead, you are supporting the admins who choose to neglect it and who are unable to provide sustainable solutions to the most basic problems. Please keep this in mind the next time you are thinking about buying fraises to get that new fur.

facts, this was proven and shown by Melanie herself with her video exposing atelier801 earnings
during the years. God knows what they did with all of that money.

It wasn't directed at you. Because there are ex-staff who got fired and get super mad and stuff and say nonsense . I meant the ones who got a horrible treatment from specifically the EN/EN2 staff team and left. I am not saying that all of the EN staff are horrible. I am saying we can categorize them as some who are bad and some who are good. I don't want to point fingers because you can all see the way they respond to applications and deal with arbs so there is that even the arbs have terrible actions in the applications.

Yeah as it was more likely aimed at me I can tell you it's a laughable statement, and proves once more that all of you act based on a bias that is all in your mind. We don't get mad and say nonsense, we asked to be heard and got the door shout in our face and got treated like shit because we were considered outcasts.

As far as it may concern you, I'm a player that withnessed this game since its start. And what was still a thing 8 years ago remained unaltered.

Not directed at me? I'm an ex-staff member who wasn't fired, it's literally what you asked for? But I get that I don't suit your agenda so you're not interested in my point of view, sorry about that. I could try to tell you that there are more sides to every story that's been told here, but I know you don't want to listen anyway. Just like I know that other ex-staff members know that their stories can't be disputed in public, which is why they're bringing it up in public to begin with. I'll be the first to admit that being part of the staff team hasn't always been a bed of roses, but the difference between me and some is I would try to solve the issues privately. Says more about them than it does about the remaining staff in my opinion, but hey I know my opinion still won't matter because I'm not jumping on the bandwagon, so why should I even bother.
