I disagree with you. When people disable whispers, you can't whisper and if said in main chat, it'll more than likely get lost among all the other posts. I support this idea.

I'd like to see this even if just to satisfy my curiosity, but I'd probably ever use it the once. Also, I agree with Squeek's pointd above.

To be honest, this would create alot of suspision because random people would add you, and alot of other people would spam you saying stuff like, "OMG Y U NO ADD ME".
