Orkestrzhopa a dit : wow *.* thank you soo much, this actually helped me alot ,c: And to tell you the truth, i was 11 years old when i drew this (which was 2 years ago :P). This was the first anime drawing I have ever drawn. And i always wanted someone to critique it . I dont know if i've gotten any better since then. But that really helped me alot. You gave alot of tips , that is useful to future drawings of mine c: But again thanks for using your time to help me :D It is really awesome to finally have someone critique this drawing, especially as awesome as this, I will keep that all in mind when i draw ! :DDD PAGEGET >:3 |

Swirlfire a dit : that background is the worst thing. dark red should be sparingly used, especially when there is already red in the image (the hair). if your friend wanted an exciting pose, standing ones aren't the way to go. for something that isn't boring as fuck, you need to move the limbs around. the feet shouldn't be on the same plane, nothing should be at a right angle to anything else (the knife, the bent arm, the tail). diagonals imply movement. the asymmetry on the hair is a nice touch. unfortunately, i can't see it because it blends into the crappy dark red background. references are your good, good friends. knives don't all look the same. here are just kitchen knives. that's a shitload of variety. i am terrified of those raw sausage legs you've got going. just gonna link a redline from another drawing here, since that body does not resemble anything mouse-related: click the image for a larger, more readable version. |

Vivihi a dit : stop right there. i realize chibis are deformed little people, but throwing clothing on a glorified stick figure and calling it done does not a chibi make. you know what a chibi is, at its core? it's a toddler or an infant, with grown up features. that's it, that's the secret. babies have huge heads, chubby bodies and limbs, large eyes, small noses, and so on. switch babies to chibis and you've got it. |

Buggzie a dit : oh, honey, i am so sorry about those arms. let's take a trip to the er and a doctor will set them. i hear it'll only take a month or three for them to set properly and then you'll be good as new! i can't critique anatomy or anything of the sort from that. it's tilted, so things that look skewed might be just because of the camera angle. protip: photos need to be taken with good lighting AND from a head-on angle. the only thing i can comment on right now, other than the broken arms, is the iffy coloring. coloring an illustration means thinking about what the most important part of the drawing is. is it the marker? her face? the shirt? something else? whichever one of these things it is, it needs to have the most contrast. whether it's dark and the surroundings are light or vice versa, the viewer's attention needs to be drawn to one single point in the image. when the colors are the same intensity, we don't know where to look. here's a good way to test contrast: with traditional media, you can either squint at the image from a distance and see which areas are lighter/darker or saturated/muted. if the same tone/hue is used several times throughout the image (in this case, the hat, shirt stripes, and shorts), then you need to think about which ones to scale back and which ones to bring forth. alternately, you can turn your paper over and bring it to the light (a window, a lamp, etc) for the same effect. digital makes this easier. most programs have a function that converts the image to greyscale, or you can up the contrast manually and see which areas pop out. either way, if you use color you need to think about how it affects your drawing. |

Buggzie a dit : Ouch! That arm position looks PAINFUL! The overalls are a bit too low, if you ask me. One shoulder is a bit higher than the other. It looks a bit awkward. The hat looks like it has a ROCK in it! Maybe try fixing that? Other than those few kwirks, it looks amazing! |

Orkestrzhopa a dit : lol the beggining made me laugh .. yeah i know the arms are bad >.< it took like 30 minutes trying to fix them, and i just gave up. Oh and the only reason the colors are like that is because i edited the lighting... it would look different if i hadnt done that... also i use my ipod to take pictures , so yeah. thanks for the tip tho! |

Buggzie a dit : her hairline rode up and settled down on the top of her head. her arms are both paper-thin and far too long. the plush rabbit is entirely too two-dimensional. give it some stitches, some fuzz, and some squish. plush toys are soft and don't retain their shape when hugged. also that character design? it looks like every generic loli i've ever seen. what makes YOUR comic more interesting than the thousands of other comics with that same character in them? |

Buggzie a dit : if you don't mind spending money, there's a really good book series done by a professional animator on designing characters. to be honest, though, there's not much you can do in the way of gaining that knowledge other than looking at the artists you love, seeing what THEY do with their characters, then sitting down and thinking about WHY they appeal to you. i'd look at a variety of artists too, not just the ones you know right now. from your art style, you're probably most familiar with the japanese artists, and that's fine, but they aren't the only ones out there (and even in that one community there's a lot of variety). take, for example, koge donbo vs hiroaki samura. both have their own thing going, but the difference is ridiculous. don't be afraid to branch out into other styles. western comics, contrary to popular belief, aren't all hypermuscled superheroes. there are people like ben caldwell, cheeks (or sean galloway), juanjo guarnido, moebius, etc. the first two are a lot more cartoony than the other two. i started out drawing pretty much the same thing - generic animu doodles, but with time and (a shitload of) practice, i can do a bunch of different styles when i need to. |

It takes a lot of creativity. To design my characters I use sites like Polyvore and various little avatar makers. ork thanks for that book i might use it |

Buggzie a dit : Why are the arms and ears not colored? :o The way the eyes are crossed looks pretty weird... The body is slanted so it looks awkward. |
